Can't get the crack to work. It crashes the game when I try to run it. Is it because of the version 1.01 update patch? Also why do I need local emulator to run the game? My computer's Unicode settings are set to Japanese.

As for all CLOCKUP games, the DL version has slightly different file than the Package version.
This render the DL version crack incompatible with Pkg version (unless you replace that file and effectively make it a DL version). Go to the Package version thread for crack for Package version.

Japanese locale =/= Japanese windows.
There are also games that detect your timezone, input language setting, datetime format, etc.
