Guyss recently I heard found out that those all who self insert have different styles like some project themselves, their oc or as mc. I wanna know how y'all self insert? Personally I do all and also end up detached coz I hv immersion issues I'm working on(• ▽ •;)

i project myself onto the heroine if there is a design, so i am her and she is me, but if there isnt a design (like in some otome indies), i just imagine my animefied idealized self next to the men LOL. although if you hide the heroine's portrait and mute her voice (if there is one) and imagine the lis speaking directly to you, this is pretty immersive too! so im happy that there are still options like that in games^^
so i guess that ultimately i combine projection and oc-ing? except the oc is me, but at the same time not a 1:1 copy.. or something(?????)

If the female protagonist has a small portrait or character art, I'll check her appearance and personality to see if she matches my preferred type; otherwise, I'll close it if I can.

I only feel a sense of identification with protagonists who share similar personalities, thoughts, and interests. For example, they might have the same hobbies (reading, shopping, working, etc.) or possess a strong sense of justice, not easily yielding, and having their own opinions.

I mostly feel involved when faced with game choices: I make decisions based on my own subjective perspective, rather than on the female protagonist's situation or personality. Even if the ending is unpleasant, I can accept it.

I think it helps to imagine that you're experiencing the situation yourself instead of trying to match your entire personality to the MC. Choosing the responses you'd actually give and using your name or a nickname can help too. You don't have to relate to every single thing she does to feel involved in the romance! And if you switch between feeling like the MC and watching her story unfold, that's completely fine. You don't have to stay immersed the whole time for it to count.

I go into every game with the mentality that I am the protagonist to begin with. I use my real name, turn off every little avatar and voiceover when there is one, and just play... I imagine my anime-style self instead of the default design, but when that default design appears I still think about it as me.

I think some players in the CN community say to think of the designs as clothes you put on and that's pretty much the case for me too, I just wear the clothes as soon as I get into the game and imagine everything as if I'm directly there... which is sort of the point of written stories, for the reader to imagine vividly the things that are happening.

I just think I'm trying to drive the plot forward when I only get choices I wouldn't do HAHA. And otherwise, I daydream about what the scene would go like if I could do what I'd exactly want to do in that situation, and what things or scenes would change if instead of being the default design, I looked the way I really do irl in the game too. With this, I also write and doodle yume daydreams and that's super fun too!

If Theres An Defined Protag Or A Default Look , I Will Project Through The Eyes Of Her . . . . . . . .
If There Isnt Or Character Customization I Will Create My Own OC That I Project Onto , For Fanart I Just Use The Default . . . . . .

Id Rather Not Self Insert As Myself , It Just Feels Easier And Better To Detach Myself From Reality To Relish In The Work Itself ; I Have High Admiration For Anyone Who Are Able To Self Insert Fully ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

I suppose it would depend on the game I'm playing. In some otomes, the heroine's actions are just too different compared to I would personally do. In others, I feel that I have more in common with her. So I guess in the end, it just depends on whether I vibe with her or not lol😋.

As for the shipping itself? I'm more of a self-shipper😙. Again, if the heroine's actions are too 'unorthodox' then I'm perfectly fine not projecting.

I think I project myself onto the protagonist, kind of like roleplaying as them. Even just giving themaname I've come up with myself makes me feel more attached to them.

But in games, when you use the default name, the characters actually call you by that name, solatelyI've been feeling a little sad about changing it.

I wish more games could do something like Tokimeki Memorial, or maybe with advances in technology, havecharacters be able to call you by whatever name you choose. That would be so nice!

I always play as the protagonist by projecting myself onto them.
When it comes to making choices, I prioritize my own way of thinking over the protagonist's personality.

If I really like a game and a LI, I tend to create an OC in line with the series lore, I have fun imagining a design that matches the aesthetics and how my OC's background and such would integrate with the story. Sometimes the OC will be more in line with my actual personality, sometimes it's more of an ideal self.

My self-inserting is like... I'm transported into the heroine's body and become one with her. I experience what she experiences. But I don't necessarily see everything she does as something I'd do myself. When she does something dumb, or when I'm forced to pick some weird choice that the game's romance setup requires, I'll complain at the screen: "Girl, that makes no sense at all!" "Girl, is that really your reaction?!"

And honestly, I enjoy it.
