Yes and no. It really depends on the narrative of the story for me. But for the most part, I've only played games where choices split into 2 or 3 choices, so I've gotten used to this kind of thing.
Because most games have the LIs mention the protag by name, I rarely change the protagonist's name. But during my first otome, which was Piofiore: Fated Memories, past me thought Lili was a typo and I typed Lily, and later I kind of regretted my decision and went back to Lili, after learning...
Chances are, that might be a title that was once on Love 365, or maybe one from Memories: My Story, My Choice. I know Voltage often publishes their Love365 mobile games as paid otomes on Nintendo Switch, so maybe you can have a look to see if one of them matches.
This might sound weird, but I once bought a book called Chineasy, and even though it's intended to be used to learn Mandarin, the pictures that the author put helped me associate a lot of the building blocks.
There was also an older book… I think it was called Kanji Pictographix? It also has...
Don't give up! Learning Japanese may be tough at first, but trust me...there's an endless source of Japanese learning. I personally like to use Wani Kani, and there are also many games that are intuitive to learn the language, like Shashingo. :)
Years and years ago, I might've been the person who liked gacha games the most. But the older I got, it felt like I appreciate paid and complete experiences that will give me everything than a stupid paywall just saying I can't continue or learn more about who I like BECAUSE their story is...
Sometimes, I start getting a little hungry when playing, so I dock my Switch, go grab a snack or something, and then just use Auto Play while I nibble on something. It's really good for the more laid-back scenes, but I am such a fast reader that sometimes it can be hard to find a nice auto play...
Absolutely against it. I am so glad the "AI Content Disclaimer" exists on Steam, because I just avoid anything that has it, ESPECIALLY if it's for art.
Perhaps due to my ADHD, but I need to stick to one and finish it unless I drop it midway due to a reason or another, because if I get focused and go to another one, I'll completely forget that previous one lmao
Ichiya from Variable Barricade. I won't spoil it, but I initally didn't like it, but then there was a very, very specific CG that broke me in HALF, and that kinda made him climb to the top, and it was INSANE to me just how my opinion of him changed.
If it's a historical otome (i.e. Hakuoki or the recently released Homura), then the dictionary has been my absolute best friend in understanding some of these terms, though I like games where the dictionary is a neat extra rather than a requirement for the experience.
