  1. Which utsuge has left the biggest impression on you?

Same here, but I don't think there's many utsuge otome to pick from to begin with... maybe there's more in the indie scene. I think it's between Suicide Club and Monochrome Heaven (I glaze this game so much...) for me. I love utsuge's in general since they tend to involve a lot of psychological...
  2. Any game you wish you could forget?

    The Genius Inc. games LOL
  3. Do you like otome routes that end with the MC and LI having children?

Personally, I don't really care either way since I don't self-insert. But it does sometimes feel pretty random like it's simply there to fulfill a trope. So usually I just kind of roll my eyes and continue reading lol I think the only time I liked it was in (Mystic Messenger) since it felt...
  4. What would you think of otome games without the option to change the MC's name?

I used to use the renaming option even though I don't self-insert, so on occasion when that did happen it was a bit surprising but not really a big deal. Generally it means that the MCs are going to have a well-developed backstory and character, which is more enjoyable for me, so I don't have an...
  5. Did an otome game ever change/influence your life in any way?

Fellow Ushio Ayane enjoyer!! NORN9 was one of my first introductions to the genre, and Senri's route was very inspiring. Now I'm playing Sins of Kaleido and getting hit by life lesson after life lesson all over again lol
  6. Did an otome game ever change/influence your life in any way?

Honestly, otome as a whole was a huge influence on my life. I grew up in a very misogynistic and closed-off country, so otome was the first thing that allowed me to somewhat embrace feminine hobbies which, up until then, I was very ashamed of. Shikishima's route from Bad Apple Wars was very...
  7. What's your favorite otome game title screen?

Bad Apple Wars ftw. It's pretty simple, the full picture looks like this. And when you enter the game it scrolls down to the "bad side". Really creates the feeling of going to the underworld (bad side lol) But also the rest of the LIs are almost trapped in White Mask's cloak, who represents...
  8. Otome Recommendation megathread

Unfortunately if you're looking into the English localized stuff, there's not a lot... The R18+ otomes that get localized tend to end up censored (see: The Crimson Flower that Divides + Chou no Doku). What  is nice is that both of the works that I mentioned have R18+ translations on Tumblr (here...
  9. Recommend with a Gothic theme and dark atmosphere

You can try out Monochrome Heaven. It's Gothic, dystopian and fits the dark romance tag Also if you'll like Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly, you'll probably also enjoy Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk. It's less Gothic but I think it has more of a Victorianesque vibe?
  10. Otomes/routes/plots after which you wanted to take a break

Seconding Piofiore except it was Nicola's BE... I didn't even realize I was playing the bad end since I wasn't used to console otome and the concept of long bad ends was foreign to me. When he started I was genuinely panicking thinking I had completely misunderstood his character. His route is...
  11. Which functions do you wish were more present in games?

I totally forgot about save file labels! You're so right. Sometimes when there's tabs in the save section it makes organizing them a bit easier, but it's still difficult to traverse through when you're looking for something specific... I think save labels are usually only present in OELVNs, big...
  12. Which otome game was your first impression of the otome game genre?

I technically found out about otome through Yandere Sim 😭 Back when Michaela Laws was still voicing for the game, she also created "Seduce Me", which I tried out. Honestly when I tried replaying the game a couple years ago, I can't imagine giving it above 2/5 score lol, but fortunately I was...
  13. Which functions do you wish were more present in games?

Probably UI features, but also feel free to mention extras like soundtrack galleries or more. The feature I miss the most is "Skip to Next Choice". Makes replaying routes much easier (especially if there's a lot of endings,  cough, Kaguya's route in TxA). Also love when games let you adjust...
  14. What's your favourite indie game(s)?

Yi Sang pfp and yet no mention of Project Moon... tsk, tsk
  15. any yuri vn reccs??

Love Curse is pretty cheap and good imo, I think it got a lot of traction on tiktok as well at some point. Love Ribbon is also slice-of-life and pretty chill. Not really a VN but any yuri fan should try out Signalis, imo (even though, it doesn't exactly have a "good" ending). Also seconding...
  16. Bad ending or good ending, which one do you prefer?

I mean, there's nothing better than having the LI scream over MC's death, no? I think bad endings, if done well, can leave a deeper emotional impact. There's something enjoyable about seeing what "breaks" a character, it can reveal a lot about them. That said, I still prefer comfort... So I...
  17. Otome/BL on the go - What's your opinion about playing games on handheld devices?

Bold of you to assume I have many handhelds to choose from... But I think if it's between picking among PC, handheld, or phone the handheld wins. VN-form otomes feel too "long" to be played on mobile, though I'm not really sure why this is? I think it's easier to immerse yourself into the story...
  18. Which otome left a lasting impression on you?

Probably Mystic Messenger? (very unoriginal considering my pfp, I know). It was genre-breaking for mobile otome, and AFAIK, the first otome of many lol But from a personal standpoint, I think it just does a great job of creating a fun cast that somehow manages to relate to me in at least some...
  19. Somethinger

    i enjoy otomes

OVER REQUIEMZ supposedly will have a lot of yanderish LIs, but my personal favorite yandere in otome is probably Nohl from The Crimson Flower That Divides. I'm not a big fan of them so my tastes are picky, lol
