I usually check reviews before starting a game, but I try not to take them too seriously since everyone has different tastes. I like seeing what the reviewer liked or disliked, though, because it helps me figure out whether those things would bother me too. I also really appreciate spoiler-free...
I'm definitely more of a physical collector when possible. I just like having something tangible to show for the games I buy, especially with otome since it's such a niche genre. That said, digital is sooo much more convenient, and I can't deny that sales make it tempting lol. So I guess...
Usually just one. If I play multiple games at the same time, I end up forgetting what's happening in each story. So I prefer finishing one before starting another.
I prefer a set personality. I don't really self insert, so I like when the MC has their own character. I don't mind the quieter ones, but it's always nice to see a more assertive MC too.
I don't mind mini-games as long as they don't overstay their welcome. They can be a nice break from reading, but after the first route I usually just wish there was a skip option for repeat playthroughs.
I prefer unvoiced MCs since I like to self-insert, and a voice usually breaks the immersion for me. But as long as there's a mute toggle, I'm fine with either!
