I like switch MC! Preferably when it's reversible like in Shingakkou and Kichiku Megane where you can decide if you want to top or bottom, just to see which dynamic I like better with the LIs. But I'm not complaining if the MC is set to top or bottom either as long as it fits the character
For something less dark with good writing I totally recommend Taishou Mebiusline and Lkyt! Kintouka has a slow start but it's one of my fav BLs. I also second everyone who suggested Hashihime and Shingakkou. Tokyo 24-ku is politic-heavy and takes place in modern time but the writing is top tier...
I love slow burn! I want to see that the dynamic between the LI and MC works first before they get to the romance. Maybe because I really like fleshed out characters so I still want to see interactions even when it's still in platonic/friendship stage. I dislike when the romance feels so sudden...
Hard no. I never witness this but there's one BL game I played where one of the LIs is being actively pursued by a side character and implied that they're having a sexual relationship with each other DURING the story and I lose interest. I never get to his route because I don't want my MC to be...
Reading the discussion in the thread is eye opening because I didn't know about fujoshi going as far as trashing otome game and removing the MC just to ship the LIs. You can definitely ship whomever you want but agreed, just keep it to your circle.
Personally I don't mind BL if it's happening...
I really like the classic trope of enemies to lovers or rivals to lovers, even if it's one-sided as long as they start with a certain level of animosity between them and the relationship development isn't rushed. Off the top of my head, some of my fav examples from BL games are JJ x Kiryuu...
It kinda depends? Some choices can be made to affect the plot while others are merely acting as points or scores to get you to a character's route/certain ending. If they still bring you a different outcome although the game leads you to the same plotline then it's fine by me.
What lowkey...
I used AGTH years ago too. Then there was a long hiatus of me not playing any VNs and when I came back Textractor was a thing so I mainly used that. For a few games I used VNR too. Now I just use Luna
Whenever I get into a character's route, I always play blind first without any guide while aiming to get the good ending, and obviously I will accidentally pick the wrong choices here and there and get the bad ending instead
I recently play Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma and some of the characters' quests feel like they come straight out of otome games! I enjoy it so much
My taste has definitely changed throughout the years but I will always have a soft spot for Kazuaki's art style (Starry Sky, Ayakashi Gohan). I also love the art in TMGS, especially the 3rd one where the LIs are drawn masculine enough they might as well be characters out of a shonen sports manga
