It really depends. If it's something simple, I can piece the story together, but literary works (for instance the drama CDs for Koshotengai no Hashihime which consist of characters reading classic Japanese literature works) or really technical language knock me out.
I think smoking is really gross. Imagine kissing such a person. I legit despise real-life smokers - they are on par with heroin junkies and toothless meth zombies to me.

It's a marketing ploy for them. They don't have any commitment to uncensored games, but want to expand their catalogue and lure in developers who would otherwise publish their games with JAST, DLsite, itch.io etc.

There is a big difference between 'unattractive' and 'ugly'. If the character had been made ugly on purpose, then I would only like him if his VA sounded hot. Simply not being attractive visually is not a detriment.
