Happy vs. Bad Endings, which do you prefer to play first?

Happy endings and skip bad endings entirely. I understand they can help to understand characters better, but LIs sometimes go crazy in them, and I can't get their faces out of my mind in other normal routes, and it kind of ruins the atmosphere🌼I also don't care for what a character can do (in bad ending) as long as they are not doing it for real in the main story, so no point to read it.
I completely understand you, and I share your opinion. I've found myself skipping bad endings so I can hold onto the fond memory of the good ending. And I have no regrets.

I think it depends entirely on how excited I am and what the game mechanics are like; with *Over Requiemz*, it felt like sacrilege to go for the good endings and the "good route" first, but for the most recent one I played—*Le Mirage Mystique*—I chose to do the bad endings first because I was really curious to uncover the game's mysteries.

Definitely the happy ending first! I don't really like getting into a gloomy mood, so I usually skip bad endings or just fast-forward through them. I do understand why some people love bad endings, though—they can show a different side of the characters. I just can't stand that lingering feeling afterward 😭

Bad Endings ! ! Love Them ! !

If The Route Branching Is Easy To See Then I Head Straight To Best Ending First Then Go Through All Bad Endings ; Sometimes I Get To Excited Upon Seeing The " Bad " Choice That I Go Through With It Early , Sorry To Every Character I Put Through The Torment Nexus . . . . . . . . . .

When I play otomes for the first time, I go blindly without any guides and try to achieve best ending. Later I just look online for Bad Endings, CGs and to read synopsis. I can't bring myself to choose cruel/cold options and hurt LIs to get Bad Endings.

I always start with the worst one so that I can finish the game with the best ending.

Bad endings first, for me. I usually follow a walkthrough and save the happy/best ending for last. I'm a bit of a completionist, so I always aim for 100% completion. Since there are usually multiple bad endings—and many of them happen mid-route—going back for them after finishing everything else can feel a bit disjointed. Leaving the happy ending for the very end lets me fully savor the sweetness, especially once I already know the full story. That way, I can fully enjoy the happy ending without worrying about unexpected bad ends.

For otome games, I always go BAD ENDINGS FIRST 🌸

Why Bad First is better:
• You get the sad lore and angst
• The Happy Ending feels 10x more rewarding after
• You won't accidentally get spoiled for the sweet scenes

I normally go for the happy ends first and then check the gallery. If the bad ends doesn't have any cgs tied to it, i will usually skip it.

It depends.
Best endings are easier as experienced players so I tend to do best for characters I don't care, while limit to my own tastes and no roll back for characters I care more.
However, for characters I care, I might intentionally go for bad endings because those are more relatable to my real life experience - I want someone to suffer together as companions. There are rare cases when I care for the characters and I wish no more harm for them when they preserve the ideal part of myself.
Wow. I seem to see my patterns after writing these.

If I've looked at a walkthrough beforehand, I'll prioritize playing the happy ending first!
If I already know that an ending is going to be a bad one, I prefer to play it before a day off, if possible.
I don't dislike bad endings, since they can be very dramatic, but if one is particularly shocking, it can leave me feeling a little down afterward. So I'd rather play those when I have plenty of time to relax and recover afterward.
