What do you think of 3D Otome games

I am a pureblood 2D appreciator. Yes, 3D characters are modeled in engines that make it much easier (and cheaper) to animate their movements, but to me they're missing the human touch. While I would love to see more animated characters, I'm not willing to sacrifice the 2D aesthetic. The whole 2D design seems as an expression of the character, it's more vivid to me, even when it's still. 3D feels too robotic—it's like it's trying to make fantasy real but stops somewhere halfway, leaving the result unsatisfying.

I used to prefer 2D, but 3D has improved so much in recent years that I've really come to enjoy it too.
I've played both Toraware no Palm and Love and Deepspace.
It felt a little weird at first, but I got used to it pretty quickly.

I'm a fan of 2D otome games, but having installed Love & Deepspace —and with my eye on Silent Whispers—I can say for me there's really no debate to be had about whether 2D or 3D is better; the main thing is that the game is fun to play and you enjoy spending time with the love interests.

Bit of an untapped market, though I get why it's a lot more expensive and difficult to crate a scene entirely in 3d vs making a simpler (in comparison) drawing in 2d. I wish already existing otome game companies could try their own versions sometimes, since they'll have an easier time creating a high quality product.

Both are fine for me. For 3D, it Will be better if the artist can set the art to balance between realistic and animated, to be just good but not creepy. The advantage of 3D is we can observe LI's subtle expressions when interacting.

I'm a big fan of the 3D style in otome games, especially in Love and Deepspace. My only problem is that it's locked behind a gacha mechanic; I'd love to see this quality in a non-gacha title (T⌓T)

I've played many RPGs with great romances so I'd be okay with a 3D otome game! All that matters to me is the writing quality. I enjoy playing LADS, but I'd love to see a 3D otome that isn't a gacha or mobile-only release tbh.

I only know of 3d gatcha games, which I avoid like the plague, but from what I've seen on Lads, I find it pretty but limiting. Perhaps in the future we'll have some proper otomes with 3d style and, hopefully, they'll try some

I like both; I think that as long as they have good characters and a good story, it makes no difference to me whether they're 2D or 3D.

2d is pretty THE practical. 3d used to frighten me off though (they look uncanny), not until LaDs came

I enjoy 2d much more. 3d otome is fine if it doesn't try to look too realistic.. The uncanny valley just ruins it for me.

I think 3D is a fantastic technology, but if asked to choose between 3D and 2D for an *otome* game played on a screen, I would currently opt for 2D. If we were talking about a full VR experience, I'd have high hopes for 3D, but that isn't feasible right now due to cost and technical limitations—though I certainly look forward to the future.

i'm not against them at all. as someone that loves final fantasy charas, the visual aspect never bothered me. but it's also complicated because the only game i've been exposed to is love and deepspace and every other potential "competitor" is just an unoriginal AI slop rip off lol. not to mention the recent mess with love and deepspace + it always being an incredibly greedy gacha game so. in theory, i would love to play more 3d otome games. i definitely gotta check toraware no palm out

I don't mind 3D otome games. They can make the characters feel more alive and immersive, especially with facial expressions and animations. However, I still think the art style and character design are very important, because a bad 3D model can ruin the experience.

I don't mind 3D, but I don't want it to become the standard for otome games. I think 2D has a certain charm that's really hard to recreate in 3D, especially when it comes to emotional scenes and CGs. At the same time, I can see why people enjoy games like Love and Deepspace—it feels more immersive when it's done well. For me though, a great story and memorable characters will always matter more than whether the game is 2D or 3D. I wouldn't mind seeing more 3D otome games in the future, but only if they don't sacrifice the writing to make the graphics more impressive

It's my personal opinion, but I'm still not into it at all. I might like it later if the overall quality and other aspects change or develope though since they are still pretty new.

I for some reason prefer 2d.. coz I love fictional men while 3d makes me feel like they're real🥀 of course there are exceptions like I love lads

If it's for example a proper 3D JRPG with otome elements? Yes please! I want more of this! Even if it's just a game that includes both male and female protagonist options and romance options for both.
But for the more standard otome games that are mostly or completely story focused, VNs, etc then 3D is ambitious but not necessarily something I look for. I'm satisfied with 2D portraits + voice acting.

I think different people might have different taste, but for me it doesn't matter if it's 2D or 3D. For me the most important part of otome games is what the story can you get and the character building, i like it if the character can resonate with me. If you love character that make you think you have a real bf maybe you'll love 3D otome games, but if you play otome game to escape reality maybe 2D otome game is better. Well in the end 3D or 2D doesn't matter as long as you enjoy playing that.
