easy for me, if there's no changing the default name, that's not an otome game lol
(also i feel very uneasy when heroines have official birthdays.. unless its for lore purposes, i dont see any reason for this other than trying to attract the opposite audiences, which i hate. and pushing heroines merch is not always a good thing, as rejet already demonstrated lolol)
I still feel that the MC is the character created by the development team.I usually don't change names and just use the default ones. Many MC' names carry special meanings intended by the production team, and pronouncing their names triggers voice lines. I think including a birthday for the heroine is fine—it's nice to have an artist's celebratory illustration on her birthday. I've always believed that well-developed character settings help the story progress better, allowing for richer emotional storytelling.
the issue with rejet is that they also decided to use yui's name in some promotion material instead of anata like they did before, which didnt sit right with players. combine it with them pushing yui merch like crazy instead of spending these resources on merch with lis and you have an audience thats gotten exhausted with execsI hadn't considered that look. I think that mostly the problem with rejet is that the origin of diabolik lovers is with the CDs, where there was no MC, only the listener, with the games they created the image and background of the character, and from there the different fights stars lol
