I usually tend to go first for the broody/ quite/ grumpy/ bad boy/ morally gray type if they are available, they tend to be my favourite specially if written well. 
Then my second favourite is if there is a childhood friend/ old crush.

I can't pick just one route either, but if I absolutely had to choose, Majima's route from Chou no Doku: Hana no Kusari is my absolute favorite!

It's hard to pick, but I'll go with Suzu's route from Jack Jeanne. He is not even my favourite character from the game, but his route had just the right amount of sweetness, sadness, jokes, deep themes and character growth. It also was well written in terms of story and how it fits into the whole thing.

Characters can be young or old, humorous or cautious; their unpredictability and mystery are appealing.
I dislike characters with violent tendencies or those who self-harm, as they make the pursuit of them uncomfortable.

Shiraishi from collar x Malice when I first played I enjoyed all the route when I replayed again I got bored I only enjoyed Shiraishi route same with Minami from 9rip

Lucas from Mistonia, even though I think they could have given more love to his route, I definitely love him as a character and his route in general.

Claude's Dark route, because I liked the way I felt sick and disturbed reading it (feeling bad for the MC, but being very interested in how even worse it can get). It was a strange, but very memorable mix ":D

Shu's route from Diabolik Lovers: Dark Fate. I feel like I could praise him endlessly. Also, all the routes and the game Iroha Hana Awase.

My favourite route of all times(? might be DeeDum from Heart no Kuni no Alice, two murderous shota-like twins crazy in love with the MC? Yes, please. Recently I've been playing Code: Realize and Impey was sooo good, funny, loud, silly boys who are not taken seriously are the best!
