I think I'm a pretty fast reader and I also don't play on auto mode or wait for the characters to finish speaking before I move on to the next line.
The key reason is probably because I dedicate most of my free time outside of work / exercise / other commitments to games and when I play, I can go on for hours (on weekends).![]()
Are you playing via screen mirroring or direct touch? My reading speed really gets dragged down by the auto mode — I can never quite get the rhythm right. But if I turn off the auto feature, constantly pressing the controller gets so tiring.
I mainly use controllers (unless I'm playing Steam games that don't support controllers, or when I'm playing PSV, I will just press the console buttons directly), but I never felt tired pressing buttons. That said, I do find my shoulders getting stiff from long hours of playing occasionally.
I'm fluent in Chinese / English too, but since I mostly play games in English, I've never knew that Chinese localization keeps a bunch of bonuses too!I'm fluent in Japanese / Chinese / English so I can play both the original and localisations.
I play in Japanese usually for indie titles and games I'm sure won't receive a localisation (stares at Takuyo's games).
I also play Chinese / English indie games (right now I'm playing 搜查一刻 for instance).
For non-indie commercial titles, I prefer playing the localisations if there's the choice (Chinese localisation in particular because the translation quality is better in my opinion and there isn't usually a case of audio bonus not being translated). It's easier for me to read and a major plus is that it also saves me some amount of play time when it comes to bonus contents. E.g. for the audio Q n A bonus, or those CG comment audio bonus, I can just read the translation text instead of listening to each voice line fully playing. Wand of Fortune 2 FD (iirc) had some bonus "bitter chocolate" part where the characters say harsh lines and I'm just glad I don't have to sit through the full audio experience because I'm not a suffering enjoyer(I'd just have skipped the bitter chocolate audio part otherwise, if I weren't playing the localisation)
Hmm, time is limited and my options are plenty so I won't replay a game just to see differences between different languages' translations. (Unless you mean playing to see the difference between source text (JP) and localisation, which is not something I'd do either.)I'm fluent in Chinese / English too, but since I mostly play games in English, I've never knew that Chinese localization keeps a bunch of bonuses too!
Do you ever replay games in different languages to see the difference between translations?
