The purpose of creating this threads, is that I think these character songs with great quality is worthy for people to know and listen to. No matter you guys knows already or do not know, happy to see if you will leave any comment:LOL:

I am a music lover since I was a child (even now, I can listen to songs non stop for ten hours). The reason that I got into otome game is becuase of kiniro no corda, and the reason I interested in it are those character songs. I remembered when I first listened to Tsukumori's「Aqua Blue」, really blown my mind. This song really changes my thought towards Tsukumori ( I did not know he has such gentle side).

I did not expect seiyuu can use the character voice to sing so well, and also the violin blend so well with melody, the arrangment is so fantanstic, and such quality ran though all the character songs, using different instrument that played by characters (for matching their character setting, even adding less common instrument like Trombone and Clarinet in the song), and the lyrics, match with the character totally (some of them even put some foreign language that the character used - Arata's 「BOM DIA!」「TE AMO! TE AMO!」,my favourite character - Myoga's 「疾風怒濤 -MEIN HERZ」.

Recently I have listened back to all those character songs in my mp3 folder as I bought a new headphone with aptx lossless (in the early past, I have to download them one by one in order to listen songs, but since years ago, I listen songs via Spotify so seldom listen to mp3 now), and I have some new discovery. Those character songs, no matter Kiniro no corda or Harukanaru toki no naka de, have a rock root in their character songs (more obivious in Corda 3, but in Corda 2 also have example: listen to Yunoki's 「Princess Jewel」「To be continued...」the middle part of 「Sweet Secret」Hihara's 「PRECIOUS」Tsukumori's 「LIGHT OF MY EYES」). At that time when I was young, I really did not realize that, I just thought they are great to listen to. But now I listened to that, the rock element in some songs to a extend that really surprised me (people said, what you listened in teenager will define what you love to listen in adulthood, it is the truth XD).

(Escpecially for Kiniro no corda or Harukanaru toki no naka de, they hold a lot of live event for seiyuu to sing their character songs in front of fans even now. The company even pay for professional to play full band (have electiric guitar and of course string/brass part) for live event, needless to say it takes seiyuu's effort/abllity to sing with live band as well. Koei company really put a lot of work on every aspects, not only game itself, because they knows how to create a full experience for fans, which I really really appreciate)

Back to the topic XD, what I like in kiniro no corda is it blends classical music and rock so well. Recently I listened to Tsuchiura'sAnother Revolution,it blends with a piece with Chopin. Myoga's 絶望の挽歌 and Dual Voltagefrom Jinnan also adapted some classical music piece. I am really surprised some of the songs is definitely hard rock - if listened to「Crazy Craze Crazy」XDD. They do it smartly to blend them without any feeling out of place.

For Haruka series, there is another thing that surprises me. The instrument/sound choosing definitely taken into account of which era are in. I don't know much in 1 & 2, but when comparing to 3 towards 6, will feel the difference. I love the rock vibe of 3 & 5 while having those called ancient(chinese?japanese?) style/sound, probably match with the turmoil feel and determination in character in Genpei War and Bakumatsu. But generally speaking, in 5 have a speedy/stronger vibe that 3 did not have (in 3 and sometimes 4, guitar as main dish suddenly appear in some parts is very usual, while in 5, the whole song is quite rock XD, but depends on character, japanese instrument is main dish), which is more modern and being pushed to change that kind of vibe. As for 4, the vibe is quite slow and dreamy (either add in electric/synth type of sound as base and simplify the arrangement), probably match with the times that based on myth. For 6, they add in electric type of sound, but can recognize they are those typical taisho era sound that people can think of (Accordion sound, or more foreign/western arrangment, but different with 5 which just a beginning of Westernization)

Here is some example that I like :

  • as for Corda series, will write a full list when I have times XD
  • maybe will do further update on other series character song from other company when I have times XDD

I have checked a few of kiniro corda songs in the past due to favourite voice actors and I like them! I really want to listen to the full discography but I need somebody to make a full Spotify playlist in chronological order cause I'm getting confuse creating one myself. 😅 Link me please.

On the topic of otome character songs I been listening to vitamin series songs again recently. I shed a tears watching brand new day performance by Kenn and Maeno. Made me realise I really like ballads.

But I think Spotify do not have these songs, or don't why know not being allowed to listen to (i.e. greyed) ... But I have mp3 downloaded, and I think Youtube/Bilibili have people to upload most of them. For example this uploader.

If you just want the full song list with title, there is two album that contains almost all of them for your reference.

Vitamin I have heard about it long time ago, but due to visual is not my cup of tea, I did not start the game.

KENN is a great singer, I also have some of my favourite from him in other series.
Miracle train
- YELL from 42.3⭐
- Platform x Naturally
- montage

Tsukiuta
-ハルカゼとヒバリ

Tokyo Meiji Reika
-忘却イルミネヰト

Almost forget Kiniro no corda:ROFLMAO:
夜空のナイル
ホシユメメグリ ~星夢循環~

I feel quite surprised that watching Kiniro no corda event, Kenn and Maeno seems close, no wonder, they were in same series before (Vitamin), and later Kiniro no corda again :ROFLMAO:

I found brand new day on youtube, nice ballad, I like how the vocals gradually build in power and intensity as the song progresses.

Any recommended for song title in Vitamin series?

Spotify has the Neoroma franchise character songs and I think it's quite complete, for example they have the complete album of songs for the Haruka series from one to seven which is the most recent, they also have a fairly complete collection of Kiniro no Corda songs, only that is only exclusive to Spotify Japan

I used VPN to Japan seems can access to some of the songs by album, but not yet find the complete list on spotify.

Do you mind to share the direct link here?

(Although seems even have VPN, have limitation outside Japan, for me, maybe only can fully access to them when I physically in Japan and using local wifi:smile:)

Ahahaha, unfortunately, I dont have an account nor i can read chinese. Gotta go another method. 😅 I do have a 2nd spotify account which I VPN to access Japanese region-locked songs but I did see your other comment, it's not the complete list. OTL . I'll take my time. Im slowly going through the 2000s otome games I never got around, cause I was still beginner at Japanese then, so now I trying to catch up. I like to listen to character songs after playing the game.

Tsukiuta

KENN is an amazing singer. Oh man, you linked a Tsukiuta song. Im a huge Tsukipro series fan.

I agree, Vitamin series art is not best, but I like comedy so I enjoyed it. I wish I could easily link some songs cause it is so incomplete on spotify, and very hard to find those songs over the web. Bilibili have all the live events where they performed live.

These are just a few favourites.
Vitaminx
Shooting Star, Prohibited Romance, Ai no Wonderer, Arabian Night, Dance With Beast, Manyo Rondo, Junketsu Decadance, Houkago German Suplex

VitaminZ
Devil, TENKAMUTEKI, Bijitsukan he youkoso.
Every single Kenn/Maeno (Ten & Chi) OP/ED songs cause they so good. Made In Love, Romancing Destiny

Edit: I want to play kiniro eventually, can you play on any one of the series? Do you recommended a specific order of play?

Oh, nice! I did found in the past different company made beautiful character songs. But now, maybe it is due to shrink market? Even koei company, the recent song seems not as loopable as in the past (For Kiniro no corda, I did catch up to most recent one - Starlight Orchestra, but none of the character catch my attention:frown: For Haruka 7, I did not start as in haruka 6 I seems already sense kind of downfall? and I have no interest in that specific era? I cannot find someone I sincerely like (maybe some of the reason is that I grew older hahaha) But I am playing on Ryugu no Miko - the latest game on mobille, the writing and the characters seems nice, quite looking forward to their character songs if have.

Thank you !!!! Will listen to them soon!:LOL::LOL:Comedy seems interesting, let me find some review to see if I am interested enough to start. Which particular work you have played in Vitamin? and who is your favourite?

I recommended Corda 3 then, if you like comedy, personally I like 3 the most. The character personlity is stronger and the teamwork/chemistry between characters is fun (there are different school invloved so there are 10+ characters, different from Corda 1 & 2 just one school). Corda 1 character setting seems too serious/regular/ancient to me, Corda 2 is just adding some new characters based on 1. But the Corda 1 manga is quite fun to read for a younger meXDD

I think no problem to skip 1 & 2, although they shared the same world, 3 is ten years after 1 & 2 world. and 4 is just the aftertalk of 3

This! I dont see much otome character songs this decade. It is the streaming era - cant make much money off streaming nor on CD sales. I have to be honest, I only buy physical cds for drama cds now.

I've only played VitaminX fully. The story is fun but the gameplay is exhausting so needed a break, cause there is like 12 characters routes. I've only seen bits and pieces of VitaminZ from seiyuu events, but I plan to play that one too eventually....(after other backlog games) 😅
For VitaminX, my favourite is Hajime, but I really like them all, and the fan event is wild.
Let me know if you want some mp3 songs from Vitamin Series, I do have the XZR best album.

Cool. I keep that in mind. I do remember reading those manga a long time ago but never really invest heavily reading them (i think I library borrowed it).

(I just came across your reply on favourite seiyuu in otome) forgot to say, there is 3 sperate fandisk for 3, called another sky, each school for one, Kenn & Maeno's character came up as LI in another sky featuring Amane. Hosoya's character is in another sky featuring Jinnan. For Hino Satoshi, he is the one to play my favourite character - Myoga in 3. But I think you will be quite surprise on this character, both look and voice XDDDD. Corda 1-4 shared same seiyuu, but the characters/personality they played in 1-2 vs 3-4 can be totally opposite (I think it is exactly the company intentionXDD so fun to see the characters they played change so rapidly) Etou in 2 vs Myoga in 3 - 4 is so different, the only similarity is they are both tsundere in different wayXDDD The voice is so different while comparing to Toma in Amnesia as well

The playing sequence can be 3 -->another sky -->4. I think. You can read manga for 1-2.

I played all of the haruka series (neoroma same like konami was my first otome game franchise way before I played otomate and rejet games) and I think haruka 6 is one of the best (especially in term of romance portion), at least much better than haruka 5 and 7 (well haruka 5 wasn't that great since the beginning even the manga stopped halfway lol, and for haruka 7 I don't think it's the best but it's not that bad either? Just so-so to be exact but their op song fuuun no toki is still banger, i still loop it several times), and about the character music I think I agree although I think one of the biggest reasons for the decline in otome character song releases is because of the massive presence of joseimuke series that are related to music, let's say like enstars, Bpro, or ainana where releasing character songs for an otome game becomes less relevant to the context unlike certain joseimuke content that does have a focus on music development, also I think this decline is largely driven by financial constraints, changes in player preferences, and how times have changed.

Oh, same here! My first otome game is kiniro no corda 2 in psp version, and then otomate's Moujuutsukai to Ouji-sama.

Personally I like haruka 5 the best, regarding the background/vibe maybe? The design of each LI is quite unique, it makes the conflict between each of them is somehow unavoidable especially in that era but they actually help each other out right? It is very interesting to me. I can hardly remember who is my favourite LI in 5 though, in romance point of view XDDD (I did not read the manga though, in neoromance world in later work, I think manga is just a tool for promotion (I hope I can see Corda 3 becomes a long series like 1-2, but :frown: Earlier like for corda 1-2, Angelique is a long long series, like the author did view it as a individual piece), and in story writing and character charisma, I think haruka 3 is the best and do it in a very reasonable way. For haruka 6, maybe because at that time my interest towards otome game was fading, I remembered I did it very slowly and did not play its fandisk. But recently I am playing Ryugu no Miko, and I read the event story of Haruka 6's Darius (the storyline presented in a brief way via Ryugu no Miko). Although I did play this route before yearsssssss ago, now looking back the same storyline, I feel like it becomes a different story to meXDDDD seems much better, maybe I should consider to play again nowXDDD I think the experience towards any work/piece is really depends on personal factor.

I know there are still some otome work invloved character songs quite oftenly even now, the reason why I did not get interested in them, is just because my taste is different from youngsters maybeXDDDD

Hmm for me is angelique, I played the game I think around early 2000, a few months after that I just played haruka and kiniro no corda in rotation even though in the end I was more biased towards the haruka and corda franchise (corda itself depends on which game it was because in some of the games I was neutral)... I personally got to know otomate around 2008 when I played hiiro no kakera even though in the end for the hiiro no kakera franchise I preferred the prequel game shirahana no ori and watched otomate party for the first time because of Hirakawa Daisuke at that time. In contrast to you, Haruka 5 is the second lowest Haruka game on my favorite Haruka list besides Haruka 7 which is the last on my favorite Haruka series list, indeed the game is different in premise from the other Haruka series, but I didn't really feel moved when playing it at that time (you could say the game wasn't as memorable for me as Haruka 7), I played Haruka 6 when the game was released and I admit I still prefer Haruka 6 over Haruka 5 even though the Gentei Rondo sequel Haruka 6 was quite disappointing for me personally. I personally read Haruka manga series even though I have played the game, the manga itself is more intended to promote the game lol, I played Ryumiko but I stopped because I hated otome games with gacha systems from the start so I couldn't continue it seriously.

Yes indeed, Neoroma still has character songs and several other otome games even though they have been drastically reduced, and well who knows, it's basically just a matter of preference no matter if you're old or young
