Would you skip an otome game just because of a character or a plot point you really dislike?

Absolutely. I dropped Variable Barricade cause of nayuta's route. I thought for the longest time I could just get through stuff even if its not my favorite trope/route but that showed me; I in fact can not. ▔\▁((.′◔_′◔.))▁/▔
oh, I have that game in my backlog and wanted to play it next... I'm curious to check it out now

if it's the characters, I tend to just skim through their route and still play for the plot, but if it's the plot than I must say skipped the game, even thought sometime the arts are so pretty, it broke my heart to skip them :(

Tbh I'm the same, more or less. If I really dislike an important plot point, I might skip a VN entirely. With characters it's different. As long as other nice characters make up for the bad ones, I'm willing to let the bad one slide XD

A character, no i just skip their route.
but if it's a plot i don't like/doesn't make sense/triggers me in some way then yes that can cause me to skip a whole game

I usually check other people's reviews before playing a game, and if I encounter a setting I don't like, I won't play it for the time being. However, sometimes it stirs up my rebellious side, and I have to try and see how badly the story is written (just for me).

i wouldn't skip just for a character i don't like if there's other things i like in the game. i recently played omega vampire and really loved aoi but everything else in that game was so boring and lame to me that i just would skip dialogue in the other routes and only read whenever aoi was mentioned or there

Probably not unless it's something really extreme. I can usually push through things I don't like if the rest of the game is good enough 😼

i usually don't read novels unless the plot catch my interest, but sometimes i also feel like i'm missing something good ahaha

It all depends on what that plot point does to the rest of the story. As for characters, i'm a bit of completionist so I end up playing even routes for characters I dislike

I feel like there are no real deal-breakers for me when it comes to games? Well, otome specifically since the chances of encountering something TRULY disturbing (for me) is quite rare... And we all know that yandere/dubcon stuff is pretty much 'normalized' in this genre. (๑﹏๑//)

So I'd say that, for me, I'd be willing to give anything a chance. That being said however, if I spent a reasonable amount of time on it and it's just really really not clicking, I'll just drop it guilt-free. Life's too short to spend huge chunks of it suffering through unpleasant experiences. (⸝⸝ᵕᴗᵕ⸝⸝)

No, I wouldn't skip an otome game just because of a character or a plot point I really dislike.
Of course, there might be moments that annoy me or characters I don't vibe with. But if the game has already hooked me with enough good points, I'd rather push through the less enjoyable parts and see the whole story. Sometimes, even a disliked character can surprise you later, or the plot point ends up making sense in context.

i don't think that i've seen otomes where a character i dislike would make me skip the game, the route though? easily.
plot points, though, can make me completely turn away from games or even developers if they overuse tropes that make me uncomfortable (looking at succulent's games for example). but i just leave those behind and don't dwell on it too much, there are so many games! no need to push through something unpleasant when there are tons of stuff in the backlog waiting huhu

I might skip an entire game, but I wouldn't stop playing just because of a specific character. The whole story is still really important and just skip the not interesting route~~~

yup! if i already started the game, i probably wont drop it no matter what, because the completionist mindset and all that lol, but if its a game i never started, im just gonna skip it outright
recently i learned that some otome in my backlog have bl elements, which is good to know but im still a little sad about having to delete them from my "to be read" list..;-;

I'm kind of an omnivore. There are not a lot of things that can shake me, tbh. Buut I had a lot of problems with Taisho x Alice. It was painful to finish, but I finished nevertheless...

Not anymore, I've done that before and regretted deeply because inside my head I felt like I was cheating and most games I did that I had bought so feeling of cheating + feeling of losing plot + "I'm wasting my money doing that" are the reasons I don't do it anymore, I may take longer to finish the game but at least I sleep better

I just ignore what I don't like. There's no need to skip an entire game when I can just focus on the routes and characters that actually interest me.

It depends...If the plot was really boring maybe I'm considering putting it up back into my backlog or If there was a character I really dislike maybe I'm considering skimming through the route 🤔

Yes, definitely. The plot has a huge impact on my overall experience. If the story isn't well-written, I'll get bored and skip the game.😕😕

Oh he is a fan favorite for some reason I can't comprehend. I found his route dull and annoying, and couldn't empathize with him in the slightest. But the popular opinion is that he's so devoted!! His story is so moving!!! But I couldn't see it lmaoooo. I enjoyed Ryuki and Shelby most in the game. Raul and Gil were okay too.
Thanks for this heads up, honestly I have been a bit conflicted on playing this game but I'll see if I can get over it. I do enjoy playing a lot of otomes in general, but yeah sadly I am not deep into the "I can fix him" kind of trope, haha.

Nope, I don't skip. Even if there's a character or plot point I dislike, I'll still finish the game.
