Does bad music ruin your immersion in Otome games?

I've never encountered such a situation before. Instead of the music, sometimes I get annoyed when I notice background noises repeating themselves; when that happens, I lower the volume or go to the options menu and mute it for a while, but as for the music situation itself, I've never been bothered or came across with any that annoyed me to the point to spoil the game atmosphere for me

yes it really annoys me and I can't focus, which is why I usually turn the music volume down, and if I find myself really enjoying the music in some games I turn it back up which is not that frequent tbh.

I'm actually not someone who pays much attention to BGM in games.

If it ever starts bothering me or feels distracting, I just go into the settings and turn the BGM off. It doesn't really affect my enjoyment of the game that much.

I don't think I can be immersed in music if it's not good. I think music is also one of the important elements of the game.

what's something even worse than a game having bad background music is having background music that does not even loop properly (at least to me, this doesn't even seem like an issue if the ost is nice enough. I guess it's not worse I take it back).

now imagine a game with bad background music that does not even loop properly, stuff of nightmares man....

No. But I think it's just because I'm a noob to music 😭

Like for example, my husband would say "oh wow, the music in the anime you're listening to is really high quality" but I can't really appreciate it? Like it's good, but I don't understand what he means about high quality.

Or I saw some people were saying how the music in Mistonia no Kibou (Mistonia's Hope?) was bad. This was after I finished it. I was so confused. Because it didn't occur to me at all…

Can't really say, it depends though. Sometimes I fixate on the non-matching atmosphere bgm and have to lower the volume (or completely turn it off and turn on my preferred bgm) but other times I just don't notice the bgms at all, so it doesn't ruin anything for me (◡ω◡)

Yes. As someone who really likes music and soundtracks, if I find the OST bad it turns a chore to play the game. But just like that, a game can win a lot of points with me if they have a good OST. Thanks good that most of cases otome games OST are good and delivery quality and nice melodies.

So far, I haven't encountered any music so bad that I had to turn it off. If there's voice acting, I'll focus more on the voice acting and turn the background music down.

I don't know if good music helps me focus better on the game, but even if it doesn't, I don't turn the volume down. When I'm really focused on the game, I often forget about the music altogether. Of course, I do recognize the importance of music. If I come across a really great track, I'll even look it up separately.

Bad music or poor timing can ruin the immersion. Sometimes the BGM is so distracting or repetitive that I have to turn it off entirely

Of course, good music is great, but I can play a game even with a mediocre OST

I'm fine with a mediocre OST but it kills me if the song is too repetitive or loops too early because I'm much slower at reading than a native so having to hear it for too long makes me go insane lol.

I haven't really come across particularly bad music, but good music definitely enhances my overall experience. It helps me immerse myself more deeply in the story and evokes stronger emotional responses. After finishing some games, I often still can't forget the music, while with others, I can't clearly remember the music at all. (Sorry, this was translated with the help of AI.

For me it's more bad sound effects than bad music lol. I'm fine with bad music because I can tune it out easily but bad sound effects are always jarring.
The lack of music also breaks immersion for me if the silence is during scenes that feel like they should have music (or if the bgm doesn't loop).

Yes, good music really helps me get immersed in the story. Bad music, on the other hand, just ruins my experience.😭But I can turn off the music or play games on mute.So generally speaking, the impact isn't that big.

Unfitting music to the scene, I'll most likely lose immersion. However, whether or not I like the song, I'm not going to bothered. As long as it's not bad as the Director's Cut version of Resident Evil's mansion basement theme, I'm fine lol.

I actually don't usually play with the sound on, so it doesn't happen to me really. I wouldn't say bad music has ever ruined my immersion, but I do have to say sometimes the voice acting can take me out of it, when the LI is breathing really loud I think it's supposed to be spicy-ish but instead I get creeped out lol Same with kissing sounds. Those break my immersion for sure.

I can't think of anything off the top of my head that had bad music but on the other side there are def games I've played with memorable music that I listen to the bgm ost even after I've completed it.

Yes, sometimes music affects my gaming experience, for example, a normal dialogue scene plays with upbeat fighting music.

Sometimes it bothers me but I dont think I've ever considered something as "bad" when it comes to the ost. I simply just think I'm not the target audience for it.

I can't really think of a specific example where bad music ruined my immersion in a game I have already played, but I definitely think it could happen. Music is so important for setting the atmosphere, so if a track felt cheap or didn't match the emotions of the scene, it would probably be pretty distracting and pull me right out of the moment.

I really think background music is important.

Even in a moving scene, if the music is off, it takes away half the impact.
