I don't think it will make a difference.
the answer to all the question already there in the first post and if you search this thread with "how to use link" or something similar it will also tell them the answer.

yet people still asking the same question and need to get answered all the time.

ah no, this has nothing to do with that as new users rarely check the first post in the first place.

I merely wanted the information to be compact (like a pinned message) with resources to make browsing this forum thread easier.
Instead of bookmarking some website and then copy-pasting the "weird codes" back and forth, I guess I wanted to make people aware that they can just use a browser add-on that does it automatically with two simple clicks.

Of course, there could be an ongoing issue that a little bit of gatekeeping and requirement of effort is healthy and creates forum culture.
