All I can find on this image is that is made by a Visual Novel graphics artist called "Makita Maki".He seems to have a lot of original drawings unrelated to any VN,anime,manga,etc...so this one could be one of those original drawings.

Good question...We humans tend to go out of our ways in order to make ourselves seem more interesting in front of others.However we are never satisfied with ourselves,thus we tend to wear masks. As for me...I'm a shy person but I can't deny that the fact from above is valid in my case either.
