Crashes for me under Win7/8.1 as well. I've only been able to get it to work under XP. There's an updated version of the game (part of the "Blackrainbow Box") that works on Win7, but I don't have it.

Textractor works. Both games are worth playing if you enjoy netorase from the husband's POV.

No need to change the system language. Sorry for the lack of clarity. Instead, install Locale Emulator, then right-click the game exe (or a shortcut to the exe) > Locale Emulator > Run in Japanese. Voila!

Run in Japanese mode with Locale Emulator. To translate, I use Textractor to hook, TA Helper to clean up the text (seems to be necessary for this game), and Translation Aggregator to translate.

Lately I've been using Textractor. It calls itself an "Update of ITHVNR." It hasn't let me down yet. It'll even hook unpatched RPG Maker MV games and TyranoBuilder games.
