I haven't played that many otome games, but I would definitely avoid Laito from Diabolik Lovers hahaha even though I like the character, I would run away terrified in real life

It really depends on the work. For me, it doesn't work in otome games, but it does in drama CDs. It's mainly because in otome games, the protagonists have a design and backstory, so I see them as just another character in the cast, making self-insert impossible in that case! ^^

Definitely naughty, although I don't mind if they're innocent as long as it doesn't feel out of place (this also applies to the naughty character haha)

I lean more towards canon, especially when the protagonists are interesting! for example in DL (games) Yui interested me a lot as a character (let's ignore the anime please lol)

For me, it depends on the character, although I definitely prefer deeper voices ^^
