I'd love to say it doesn't matter, but 3D feels a bit uncanny and too self-insert for my tastes, at least for otome games where these characters modeled to be handsome ikemens for fans to fall in love with. I don't have a problem with 3D in regular video games.
Not usually, but if I really like a route, I might be a bit inclined to take a short break before starting the next one. Similar to the feeling of not being able to start a new visual novel after finishing a really good one, I'd stall a bit.
I used to go with the very default of "light mode unless the application is dark by default" (for example, I wouldn't switch Discord to light mode, I just accept any theme/mode I get) but over time I grew to prefer dark mode. Easier on the eyes for me nowadays.
I do find all the light mode hate...
I love using the canon name, especially since it's voiced by default in most games with voice acting. Plus, I feel a bit awkward about using a self-insert name that doesn't fit in with all the usually Japanese names in the story
Around when Amnesia was new on Steam, I believe. That was how I started. I already knew what visual novels were at the time, and I liked the idea of female protagonist. Felt almost like a "genderbend" of galge to me, as I wasn't familiar with "otome" as a genre.
I liked Cinderella Phenomenon, though I'm biased because it was one of the first otome games I tried out. Blooming Panic was also decent (but I don't like chatrooms). I'll definitely be throwing some stuff from this thread to my backlog, so thank you all for contributions~
I do love her explanation posts, like the otome vs joseimuke one or the ones about the old tracing scandal.
4shiki's a legend, and I still enjoy breadmasterlee hinano yurika's posts even if she moved away from otome games.
For me, it depends on the reason they crossdress and their character design/voice. Essentially: Is the character a cute boy in feminine clothing, or are they straight up indistinguishable from a woman. If it's the latter, is there a good reason for it? A recent example I liked was Kagetora from...
I set it a long time ago and have put off removing it because I couldn't find the "Signature" editing area only to now realize that I can't do it by myself anyway. I've been posting a bit but I suppose it isn't enough for signature perms, so can a staff member please remove it?
(Not sure...
Definitely with a sprite! Plus voice acting if possible, but I realize that's pretty rare. I like having the heroine be a character with just as much attention as everyone else.
I understand why poster boys exist from a marketing perspective, but it's not something I really think about while playing or choosing my routes. I think most poster boys come off as kinda boring, but that's also just my preference.
Hii, this is kind of a general question but I was wondering what kind of otome games people here prefer? By that, I mean whether you generally prefer more light-hearted stories or more life-or-death stories. I personally get a bit bored when I read stories based on light-hearted comedy, but I...
