In many of these games or CDs, there might be a character who fits a specific "dere" archetype—you know, like tsundere, kuudere, yandere, etc.
So, what is your favorite "dere" type?
My personal favorites are Yandere and Deredere, though I love it when the two are combined. (I'm also interested in tsunderes and danderes.) I love yandere characters who are willing to do anything for the protagonist—and it's even better if they fall in love right from the start.
I've included definitions from VNDB below so that anyone who is interested—or isn't quite sure about the differences—can read them and decide.
Yandere: "Yandere is a Japanese term for a person who is initially very loving and gentle to someone before their devotion becomes destructive in nature, often through violence."
Tsundere: "Tsundere is a Japanese character development process which describes a person who is initially cold and even hostile towards another person before gradually showing their warm side over time."
Kuudere: "Kuuderes start as cold or impersonal towards the protagonist (and, possibly, everyone else) and then develop feelings for the protagonist as the story progresses."
Mayadere: "A deadly dangerous tsundere, a mayadere hero usually starts as an antagonist but switches sides after falling in love. This hero is unpredictable and dangerous for everyone including his romantic interest."
Dandere: "A dandere character is one who is usually antisocial and silent, that eventually changes to display their sweet, romantic, and loving soft side."
Deredere: "One of the heroes is deredere - he is utterly lovestruck with the protagonist essentially from the moment he meets him or her."
As I mentioned, these definitions came from VNDB.
That said, I know there are other "dere" types out there. Feel free to leave a comment if your favorite isn't in the poll, or if you not have a specific preference or just like a bit of everything.
Likewise, if you want to mention your favorite dere type—or a specific character—you can do so.
P.S. The poll allows you to select multiple options, since I know many of you have more than one—so feel free to choose whichever ones you like.
¡Me encantaría saber tu opinión!

I prefer tsundere characters. I love particularly spiky dudes who turn into total sweethearts. I just finished Otome Daoshi and I was very pleased with Yuhang's route.

You've taught me about danderes and mayaderes today! Never knew those existed. My profile picture is essentially a mayadere and I sure as hell really enjoyed his route in Nightshade. I'm normally not a big fan of the yanderes because they creep me out too much, but J appreciate their strong determination to keep their loved one all to themselves.

I like quite a few different types of dere. My choices are tsundere, yandere, kuudere, mayadere, and dandere. Of those, I like tsundere and yandere the most (because these two types of dere are often explored in games and otome dramas).

Besides that, I also quite like Hinedere (Hinedere: A character who is skeptical, sarcastic, cold, and harsh on the outside, but deep down still has a soft spot). My favorite Hinedere character is Mozart in Ikemen Vampire (he's a combination of Hinedere and Tsundere 😁).

Yandere, Kuudere, and Deredere lol. I love both Yandere and Kuudere, but sometimes Deredere catches my attention too.

In otome games, if there's no route order from a walkthrough, I always play the Deredere LI first and save the Yandere and Kuudere LI for last. Their routes are always fun as an opener!

While in drama CDs, I enjoy Yandere the most lol

I dislike the tsundere type in real life, but I'm not sure why I like them in the otome genre. 🤣
Of course, I also love megadere characters and other types of "dere" personalities.

I like yandere, and the type I like is Kuudere! I knew about yandere, but this is the first time I've heard of Kuudere😚
Maybe I'll like every dere😘😘

I really like yandere characters. I love it when they're so obsessed with me because they like me so much. That's why the Otome CDs I listen to are almost exclusively in the yandere genre.

WOW, I've been reading this forum for a long time, and I think this is the first time I've heard of a guy like that. Maybe I've played characters with that specific personality type. Thanks so much for that new info—it's interesting to learn. When I check out the Li characters' personalities, I'm going to take a closer look to see if I come across a Hinedere. :D
I'm not sure if Mozart from *Ikemen Vampire* officially falls into the Hinedere category, as there's no official confirmation; however, based on my experience with the storyline and his personality, I think he does exhibit Hinedere traits. 😁

I love tsunderes so much! (✷‿✷)
I also really like watching tsunderes (if you combine "tsundere" with "deredere," double the fun! 🤩) blush and act all clumsy while they stammer and try to justify themselves by saying that's not what they meant—even though, despite their behavior, I can always tell they're very protective and ultra-jealous. I love them.

Male yanderes are love, male yanderes are life, male yanderes are the reason for it all; I absolutely adore them. Among the "dere" archetypes, yanderes are my favorites—whenever I rank characters from a game, they almost always take the top spots (if not the very first one). That extreme jealousy and possessiveness—which he frames as "caring"—is the best part for me; he spices up the game and make it so much more lively and entertaining. Whenever I play—usually blindly, without a guide—and I know there's a yandere involved, I always hope the choice I make triggers an event with them. But what I love even more are the yanderes who, beyond just being possessive and jealous, are willing to destroy the world and sacrifice absolutely anyone or anything just to be with you. Uff, it's truly perfect; they're rare to find, but I have come across them. 😏🤭😌👌

OMG YES.... THE EXTENT OF WHICH THEY'RE WILLING TO GO TO BE WITH YOU IS SO DELICIOUS. THE ONE THING I DONT REALLY LIKE IS IF THE YANDERE ACTUALLY ACTIVELY HARMS YOU PHYSICALLY (BUT AHEM LOCKING UP IS TOTALLY FINE -WINKS-) BUT I LOVE IT, IF THEY HARM ANYONE ELSE THOUGH like 'LET THE WORLD BURN AS LONG AS WE'RE TOGETHER I'M THE HAPPIEST PERSON ALIVE'... AAAAA OR LIKE EVEN FOLLOWING YOU TO... TO DEATH LIKE ''THE WORLD IS NO LONGER WORTH LIVING IN IF YOU'RE NOT THERE'' -SOBS- (abit extreme but i love it) ... WHY ARE YANDERES SO TASTY ?!?!
