Hi guys! When you listen to Otome CDs, do you prefer earphones or headphones?

I usually listen while falling asleep at night, so I tend to use earphones. But when I listen during the daytime, I use headphones instead.

What about you? Do you have a preference between earphones and headphones?

Also, if you have any earphones or headphones that you really recommend for listening to Otome CDs, I'd love to hear your suggestions! 😊🎧

I only have one pair of headphones at the moment, the Sony WH-1000XM6, so I basically use them for listening to everything. The sound quality is the best for me personally, and I've used several Sony headphones over the years, so I guess I've just become a Sony person at this point!

I even use my headphones when I'm listening to Otome CDs in bed. Honestly, though, they're NOT convenient for sleeping at all. My neck gets sore, my back gets sore, my head starts hurting... everything hurts. But I still keep using them because I really like the sound quality.

As for earphones, they just don't seem to stay in my ears very well. They always feel like they're about to fall out! Maybe I'm just wearing them wrong, though.

I know there are earphones specifically designed for ASMR listening, and I've been tempted to get a pair for a while. But somehow, I never actually end up buying them because all my money keeps disappearing on Situation Voice CDs instead.

So... maybe one day I'll finally buy some proper ASMR earphones. But knowing myself, I'll probably see another Situation Voice release and spend the money on that instead.

Earphones! That way, I can listen to the drama cd while lying down sideways lol. I'm not into headphones because my ears hate them and wearing them for too long hurts so much. Plus, I can hear the R18 scenes better with earphones lol

I'm currently using the Sony MDR-XB55AP Extra Bass and want to buy it again. However for some reason, official Sony Audio retailers in my country don't sell it anymore and I'm too afraid to buy it from a reseller.

Started out with headphones but because i loved lying on my side they would feel awkward. Also theyre such a drag taking them on and off and my hair gets stuck in it (ive lost many hair follicles thanks to that...). Im an earphone girlie for life now! They also help me with my immersion and ~imagining~ the scene better without uncomfortable, clunky headphones attached to my head, ifykyim

Earphones are better when you move around in bed, but I guess the quality is not as good as headphones.

If you sit then headphones would be better.

But for me, I mainly listen to it before bed so earphones all the way

Using headphones while lying in bed takes some serious dedication! 😂😂

I've heard that Sony headphones have really good sound quality, so maybe I'll give them a try if I find a good pair.

And I TOTALLY understand what you mean about spending your money on voice works instead of audio equipment!! 😂😂 I actually bought a pair of earphones specifically designed for ASMR before, but I couldn't lie down comfortably while wearing them, so I ended up going back to using regular, standard earphones. 😂

For me, I blast the otome game in the room where I share with my boyfriend. LoL I was flirting male lead in front him when he himself playing game too. Either way, I have switch it was great. I only put earbuds when he sleeping in the room and I could play quietly. The only problem is I want to play otome game that are a bit adults. I cannot blast the sounds. My ADHD give me a bit bothering from headphones sensative and my head is really small. My ear is also sensitive to vibrating or wavelengths from the sounds I don't like to wear it. Either way, my desktop is next to my boyfriend desktop so I kinda cannot play my favorite adult otome game. LoL

It depends how I listen to them.

My favourite way is to use my physical CDs on my Sony Discman + a headset. I love the nostalgic feeling of using real CDs, also I love headphones in general.

My digital library I play from my phone and either use my PS Pulse Elite (it has AMAZING quality) or if I'm tired and want to lay down, I might switch to earphones as it is more comfortable in some body positions.

An earphone that's specifically designed for listening while lying down AND has great sound quality would be the absolute best!! 😂

I looked into the MDR-XB55AP Extra Bass, and it seems that Sony has already discontinued manufacturing them. They're still available in Japan for around ¥5,000, but I have a feeling they'll probably become harder to find here too eventually.

I guess Sony has moved on to wireless earphones with the times, unfortunately. It's a shame, though! 😭

I couldn't help but laugh at the part about losing your hair follicles! 😂😂

I totally know what you mean!! I use earphones much more often too, and I don't use headphones nearly as much. But I guess earphones really do give you a better sense of immersion, huh? Maybe that's another reason why I prefer them! 😆🎧

I guess the way I'm using them now really is the best setup for me, then! 😂 My headphones are Razer gaming headphones, so I think the sound quality is pretty decent too.

Ever since I started caring more about sound quality, I've found myself wondering more and more if there are even better earphones or headphones out there. But if I keep buying them every time I think that, my room is going to end up completely covered in earphones and headphones, so I'm trying to restrain myself. 😂

i lowkey have no choice but to use earphones bc headphones make my head hurt after a while 🤕

I totally know what you mean! 😂

I can wear earphones for hours, but if I wear headphones for too long, the area around my temples starts to hurt. I actually wish I could wear headphones more because I really like the sound quality, but not being able to wear them for long periods is definitely the downside. 😭

That sounds like a pretty difficult situation! 😂 I guess having some personal space would make it easier to play adult Otome games, but realistically, that's not exactly something you can just arrange overnight.

I haven't told my boyfriend about this hobby of mine either. 😂😂 I'm taking this secret to the grave! LOL

Ohh, now I'm really curious about what the Pulse Elite actually sounds like! 😆 Since it's a gaming headset, I imagine the sound quality must be pretty good! Apparently it uses planar magnetic drivers too, so it sounds like it has some pretty impressive audio tech. 👀🎧

For now, I think I'll stick with my current setup and keep using both earphones and headphones depending on the situation. It seems to work pretty well for me! 😊

Yes, it is really amazing! I had some headsets before (nowhere near this price range or tech btw XD), and I was really really reluctant to pay its price at first, but I did not regret it. It is especially amazing during PS5 games, but I love it so much that I use it with every Bluetooth device I have!

It is a shame that my Sony Discman cannot connect to it (but it is understandable, they are like... 20-25 years apart, haha). But if I could, I would listen all my drama CDs with it. :,D Sometimes I still do as I digitalised many of my CDs, but touching the CD itself and use my Discman is such a nostalgia blast... so I kind of feel bad either way, haha! If I use my Discman, I cannot use Pulse Elite with it, but if I use Pulse Elite, I lose the nostalgic vibe. ToT

Gaming audio gear from other manufacturers can be really impressive too! A lot of them have such great sound quality. Of course, the prices can be pretty impressive too, haha! 😂

I think having a life where you go back and forth between the modern and the old-school is actually pretty nice! 😆

I don't have the boombox I had when I was a kid anymore, so I've completely transitioned to digital. I still buy physical CDs sometimes, but once I've ripped them and have the digital files, I guess I mostly just keep the CDs as part of my collection. 😊

It's a real pity because these are such good earphones. I need to research which earphones are just as good, just in case mine break.

So far, Sony's other options either don't match the quality of the MDR-XB55AP or the price is too high. Like the Sony IER-M500, which is around ¥17,000. I don't need earphones for gaming, I just need it for drama CDs!

These kinds of audio accessories can vary so much in both price and quality, so it's honestly really difficult to find something that's a good fit for you.

The earphones I use are the Panasonic RP-HJE150. They're definitely not anything particularly high-end, but they only cost around ¥500, so they're incredibly cheap. 😂 One advantage is that even if I accidentally fall asleep while wearing them and end up damaging the cable, I can easily replace them without feeling too bad about it, haha.

They're also in-ear earphones, so I don't really have to worry about cable noise either. If they're available where you live, I'd definitely recommend giving them a try! 😊🎧

Wow, being able to fall asleep while wearing headphones is impressive! 😂 How do you do it?!

I'm the kind of person who tosses and turns a lot in my sleep, so I don't think I could ever manage it. 😂

I know that headphones offer superior sound quality, but I'm definitely an earphone person. I often listen to music while lounging or lying down, so the most important thing for me is that they don't get in the way when I turn my head to the side. Plus, I really don't like that sensation of pressure on my head that comes with headphones... Earphones just feel like the best fit for me when I want to relax and listen.

That makes a lot of sense! I use both too, but the reason I tend to use earphones more than headphones is pretty much exactly what you said. 😂

I guess the most important thing really is having a listening setup that feels comfortable and stress-free! 😊🎧
