What do you guys think about the Villains Are Destined to Die anime adaptation news?

Honestly, I'm kinda nervous about this 😭 I know an anime adaptation is exciting news, but at the same time, I can't really feel that excited about it.
Penelope's story is so dependent on the atmosphere, tension, character expressions, and inner monologue. I really hope they don't rush through her survival struggles or simplify the relationships with the LIs too much.

Also... I really hope they don't mess up the art style because the manhwa is gorgeous ❤

Andd PLEASE give the characters good voice acting because I already have voices in my head for them 😭

I'll obviously give it a chance when it comes out, but right now I'm more cautiously worried than excited. What about you guys? Are you excited for it?

I don't have high hopes that the adaptation will be as gorgeous as the manhwa. The art is too intense for an anime, it will be a pain to animate it (especially Penelope's hair! :ROFLMAO:). I mean, looking at the Raeliana and Elise anime adaptations, it probably similar?

As for the voice acting, I hope they hire a good cast! I was startled when I heard that Tomoaki Maeno voiced Callisto for the manhwa promotion. Penelope was even voiced by Saori Hayami! lol

I will definitely watch it if the anime style piques my interest.

Omg they got tomoaki maeno as callisto?!! As in the guy who voiced zhongli?!! 😂 I can totally imagine him playing as callisto though, thats a great cast

YEAH! HIM!

Here's the link if you're interested: youtube. There's a low chance of keeping the same seiyuu from the promotional video for the actual anime (the budget would have to be huge to get Maeno and Hayami as the main cast lol). So I don't have high hopes for Maeno voicing Callisto in the anime.

Nooo, Maenos deep voice would go so well with callistos confident personality 😢 but Maeno and Hayami are such popular mainstream VAs that it would probably be tough to get them on a smaller project like a manwha adaptation (and its joseimuke so even smaller chance)... I guess we just gotta wait and see 😣

I'm mostly nervous right now. A lot of what I love about the story comes from Penelope's thoughts and the overall atmosphere, so I really hope they don't rush it. I'll definitely give it a chance though

I'm grateful that they've started making these fantasy/villainess/nobility/isekai anime in the last few years. Even though I don't like isekai, I can stomach it when it's combined with these other elements. These anime are never perfect, but I don't mind. I'd much rather watch a generic isekai villainess anime than all those school-themed romances with their student councils, school festivals, Valentine's Days, and White Days that make up the majority of romance anime today. And give me more Maeno!!!

Im both excited and nervous. On one hand I'm always happy to see more adaptations of women-oriented manhwa/manga bcs it helps boost popularity and helps to keep the fandom alive (yipee more ppl to fangirl with). It also encourages more adaptations of them which are always welcome in my book (also gives potential merchandise releases).

But ngl, the manhwa designs are so beautiful and complex im scared they might butcher their designs (remember Honey Lemon Soda ?). I dont really mind slightly janky animations bcs I'm here for the vibes alone but yea I want them to at least be aesthetically pleasing to look at xdd.

But who knows, Solo Leveling was somehow done by A-1 studios so lets wait till they announce the animation studio. Voice acting wise there are low chances for it to be Maeno and Hayami but I have faith that they'll definitely find vas that are suited for the roles (I have nvr come across voice acting that I dislike in most adaptations).

Another thing to note is that 1 episode would usually last 23ish minutes and realistically it'll be very hard for them to shoehorn everything into one season (around 12 episodes) unless they plan on either cutting alot of content out, making the scenes very fast paced or making a new season afterwards. Nonetheless, I hope we can get a true adaptation so everyone gets to enjoy and understand the story regardless if theyve read the original source or not.

This might be a sign for me to finally read the manhwa
You definitely shouldd!! It's so good, like for me I'm addicted to the emotional rollercoaster i get from it lol. Don't know how to explain it, but even the story isn't too mainstream (in how it deliver the story) and isn't predictable either

I mean, honestly, for me, they don't even need to change much. Just keep the pacing slow and don't cut too many parts, and I think that would already be enough for me and probably a lot of manhwa readers.

But I can also see how that could be a problem from a non-manhwa reader's perspective. For almost half of the story, Penelope is basically just trying to survive hell 😭 She spends so much time being pushed around and struggling before she finally gets to a point where she can stand up for herself and actually start taking action against the true villainess.

So if the anime adapts that part faithfully without rushing it, I personally would love it, but someone coming in completely blind might find the first half too slow or frustrating, especially if they're expecting a more straightforward revenge story. That's what makes me worried about the adaptation they might feel pressured to speed things up or cut certain parts just to make the pacing more appealing to anime-only viewers.
