It crashes after the intro. You can't enter the CG/scene gallery either
 
rip, guess we'll just have to wait for a proper patch. there's one out on a chinese site but I don't have an account there.

Found a solution that works, you can download the binary from https://github.com/YeLikesss/SdWrapless and use it to unwrap the start.exe, you'll get a file in sdwrap_extract folder, and you can use it to play.
Remember to run it with locale emulator or it won't work.

-First you need to head to https://github.com/YeLikesss/SdWrapless/releases/tag/20241212 and then download sdWrapplessGUI.exe from there.
-After you do, you can open the file and then select the 3 dots on the top right to select start.exe from the main game and click the button with chinese written on the bottom right on it.
-Then, you'll have a sdwrap_extract folder in the game folder, you can cut and paste the exe from it to the main folder and replace the main exe or keep them both by renaming the extracted exe.
-Now, you can use it to play the game.
 
By the way these アトリエかぐや games with this engine (Start.exe) are a little weird, you have to have your locale AND region set to Japan and Japanese or it simply won't start. I thought my PC was kaput but I just needed to change my region too
