Secondary characters and "main" characters as romantic interests?

Has it ever happened to you that you developed a romantic interest in an NPC or a secondary character in a game otome who isn't playable but who has captured your heart? I've always been curious about this, and I wonder if other gamers have experienced it too. I fell in love with Louis XVI from Time Princess, a main but non-playable character from the Marie Antoinette novel. I found him endearing and charismatic, and I think I liked him more than the two romantic interests in the book: Lafayette and Fersen.

And also with Twisted Wonderland, which, despite not being considered an otome game, had many "husbands" for its player base. One of my favorites was Sam, who is inspired by Dr. Facilier from The Princess and the Frog. Perhaps I found him attractive.

But I'm curious to know if you've had similar experiences; I'd love for you to share your stories about non-playable characters.

For me the recent one is probably Tsuwabuki from Illusion Itehari. I remember being charmed by him and then realize he's an npc. Tsuwabuki's brother, Yori is the LI instead, still love Yori tho (even tho he's a trash lol).

But damn, this game has a lot of beautiful npc and I keep falling in love with them. Even Fukuyama Jun voiced an npc. WHY? Fukujun as npc!!?

But I guess, it's a win too because in Utakata no Uchronia -trail-, they add Tsuwabuki's route.

Yes! Sometimes when I play games, I am attracted by the supporting role. The supporting role can arouse my interest more than the leading role. I really like Fei in Piofiore Fated Memories. When these twins appeared, it caught my eye and made me feel that Fei was very mysterious and unknown. I was full of curiosity about Fei. He should be a person with a story. It's really a pity that I can't conquer Fei. There are some supporting role in other games. I think the setting, drawing and personality characteristics of the characters are very popular. I think it's a pity that the official didn't list them as the main characters.

I know right? He's the only one decent in that entire game!
How could the devs not give him a route?
It was as if they feared the other LIs would pale in comparison near him...

I wish KANAN from Olympia Soiree had a route!
Aside from Tsukuyomi he was the only one I enjoyed seeing...

KANAN- Many don't like him but I love him, in fact if he wasn't a side character but a LI I would said he's above the rest of them haha

I will not forgive that Karatachi is only a side character plus his seiyuu he's too perfect and that's why they didn't do him a LI /deluding myself

And by mention Fukujun I must say it's a shame Shiyu is a side character I want to believe in a FD and something related to him... pls...

And even in Yashiro's Route when Karatachi says something like "oh? is this the type of guys you like? what about me then? am I too old for you?" the devs just had to rub more salt into our wounds! T___T

"Has it ever happened to you?" No, it's more like "how many times has it happened to you?" And the answer is: almost every single time. I even say this that I have the second male lead syndrom. I also sometimes fall hard for npcs who are not even in the list of love interests.

Developing a romantic relationship with a supporting character and achieving a happy ending is something I've only experienced in the first few parts of the game (FD); it's quite rare in the main story: it usually happens with minor characters, villains, etc.

There are only a lot of friendship endings, and individual character routes aren't very long. It's really a shame.

yeah, way more times than i can count. i swear the devs always make the hottest NPCs and then be like "nah, no route for you." it's honestly so cruel. why do they do this to us?

I have several! The most recent one I think is Isaac and Knox from Crazy Chain; they were too appealing not to have a route or some kind of extra section.

The fact that Adam from Bustafellows doesn't have a route seems like an affront to the otome industry. I really expected him to have a route in the second game.

Saeki from Collar x Malice—I know she has a section in Unlimited, but I wanted a proper route.

The devs do this on purpose!!! They must!! All these attractive side characters are bait for people to ask for fandiscs and sequels!

And yes I get caught in the trap the same as the rest. Thank you for the Hiiragi route, Utakata no Uchronia devs.
