Have you ever shipped two guys in an otome game?

I'm pretty much in the same camp as most people here. I don't enjoy shipping the ros together in otome either. I play otome because I want the romance to focus on the heroine and the ros, not on the ros with each other. If a route leaves me feeling like the ro is more emotionally invested in someone else than in the protagonist, it just kills the romance for me.

The only thing I disagree with is the harassment aspect. If someone wants to make BL fanart or headcanons in their own space, I don't see the point in attacking them. Just block the tags, mute the accounts, and move on. Likewise, people who enjoy those ships shouldn't try to push them into otome-focused spaces or demand official content - respect goes both ways.

Which game was this? I follow the indie scene, but I don't remember playing this. This actually reminds me of another game I came across once, not exactly an otome/ amare, it was an interactive fiction novel but it was marketed as a romance and it had two male ros. One was hung up on his ex even on his supposed solo route, while another "solo" route wasn't really solo at all - you either join an existing poly relationship or continue dating him while he also remains romantically involved with another character. That game really was THE chair sim - never dropped a demo that fast.
The game was Touchstarved it was only explicitly bad with 2 specific Lls it was kind of implied with everyone else (I heard the devs made a relationship chart involving the Lls eughh) But honestly what you described is a LOT worse omg why would the writer think thats a good idea 😭

Ohhh I remember that one - I saw a lot of posts about it on tumblr when the kickstarter dropped, but never got around to play the demo and then just forgot about it. Hearing that I'm kinda glad I did, must've been fate 😂

I've never done that, and I'm not really into BL to be honest. But I really wish to see more otome games with original and unconventional storylines.Could it be some kind of rebellion? Because I think these are just hobbies and shouldn't be banned or anything like that.If two romance partners in an otome game like each other and the selling point of the game is the complicated relationship between the MC and them, I'd probably play it just for the novelty.

Honestly, I never thought about shipping two guys in an otome game. The way their relationship are in these games is kinda different so it never really came to my mind to ship them. If I didn't see this question I probably would've never think about it lol.

Nicola and Dante

Sorry for barging in but OMG YES. People see these two dudes who quite literally call each other brother in both games and go hm they can't possibly just be very close family members, there's no other way to love someone other than a romantic one so they must be SOOO into each other!!! <- and then they ignore that both of them are head over heels for the player/heroine in two routes (their own + finale)... JFORMSOTNTK THE DANTE&NICOLA BROSHIP IS SO IMPORTANT TO ME let the pair of only children be best bros it's adorable and they support each other's relationship so adorably granted Nicola almost killed us a handful of times in both their routes but that's just him showing he cares!!! /j

I'm so sorry I just think about Piofiore an unhealthy amount of time—

I didn't particularly ship two guys. Never really saw chemistry between any men in otome games. But I really like dynamics of Owen and Shelby (not in romantic way)

out of frustration? once (odd ik). I was pursuing Souji Okita's route and he just wont stop chasing after Kondou (their leader) and obviously MC is after Okita (basically form a triangle atp). The thing is it's just Okita's stubbornness that pisses me off--like i think he prefers Kondou's dihh rather than my mc's meow meow brahhh. OKITA'S OBNOXIOUS DIHH AINT WORTH IT

It's a personal nogo for me in otome games, all guys should devote their love to the heroine, that's the only reality I accept lmao (of course a healthy amount of interesting platonic dynamics is always welcomed). You can imagine my frustration when I see scenario writers try to be sneaky or extremely persistent with their underlying BL elements in certain otome games. I do like BL in a separate vacuum but I'm very strict about these two genres never crossing paths.

Was pretty tough trying to find people who didn't ship the guys in yumekuro, straight up belittling the heroine as well. Horrific times back then.

Haha dont apologise I enjoyed reading your gushing and I feel the same way about their dynamic, its really nice when LIs have a unique relationship in the story unrelated to the overall love development. Its usually obvious when a writer is pushing character interactions as a romantic ship and I never got that feeling during the story with those two, especially with how important the heroine is in both of their stories
