Do you like genderless LI and with a female voice actor behind them?

One example (not spoiler) can be Iochi from Charade Maniacs, their whole character is about not knowing their gender, and you can describe them as you want. In my case, I stick to calling him "him" from now on. His voice is performed by the renowned seiyuu, Megumi Ogata. I like her/their voice, but I would kind of like a male seiyuu, with the tone she used, I feel Aoi Shouta with a deep voice is kind of similar. Just giving a point of comparison.

Another current genderless character that I found is Isaac from Crazy Cha!n (not spoiler is their profile), though he/they is a side character, his/their voice is provided by a female seiyuu.

In a certain way I still prefer a male voice actor/seiyuu, but I think the decision goes for the ambiguity of the character? I am not sure how many of them there are, but would you like to see more? And do you prefer a male or female voice actor/actress for this type of character?

im cool with them! i enjoy genderless/androgynous things overall, since it makes them so much more mysterious^^
but i think i would be fine with these characters staying on the side, rather than among available love interests. so, something like issac, whom i also adore so far:D
i also have no issues with them being voiced by female seiyuu. its way easier to find a female seiyuu who sounds androgynous than the same male seiyuu after all. i only know that ayumu murase and aoi shouta are pretty good at imitating female voices, but nothing besides that.. i wonder if we are gonna get androgynous male voices among new seiyuu soon..^^

I think there are a lot. They just don't get the opportunity because there aren't many roles like that.

For example,

Hyuga Saku has a great androgynous voice in Yohaji with his role as Fuji Touya. He hasn't been in otome games yet, only joseimuke media, but he could definitely be an option. Plus, he has a great range.

Ukyo's voice actor, Koki Miyata, is another good example. Though he's a veteran now and doesn't get many current roles.

Horie Shun also has a great range. You can really hear the contrast between Himuka (Olympia Soirée) and Dorothy (Over Requiemz).

One of my picks, who isn't exactly a newbie but has appeared in otome games more recently, is Amasaki Kohei, the voice of Mathis *flashbacks*. He usually sounds kind of childish, but in I-Chu, with his role as Ruka, a crossdressing idol, he gives off a real "onee-san" vibe while speaking.

So, in summary, yeah, there are options, but they might be quite tricky to implement 🫪

Oh my god I love Isaac so much! I started playing the game recently (no spoilers please) and the whole time I was wishing they were romanceable! I loved everything about them Voice, Design, and Personality ahhhh. I think having a genderless Ll would be extremely interesting! We already have a ton of GNC Men as Lls so I hope more genderless Lls are made in the future. As for voice preference I honestly think female voice actors would generally be better for these types of characters but honestly either way could be amazing! It just depends on the character themselves.

It'd be amazing 😍 even though a lot of otome characters are beautiful, I feel androgyny isn't explored much! Also love cross dressing heroines 💜💓

I feel enrai's bad end was so interesting in this respect it was really memorable haha 🤭🫪

I kind of like androgynous characters, but if they are LIs in an otome game I'd prefer them having a male voice actor. There is something when a cute and beautiful character has surprisingly deep voice :giggle: High male voices also sounds well, but if it's a female voice actors, I see their characters only as girls and it feels wrong to play their routes, as I'm not much into yuri. The only exeption is Kobayashi Yuu, her characters are always welcome!

I'm okay without voice acting, but it'd be better if it's there, so I can just listen instead of reading.

I like genderless LI, plus if they have voice actress behind them, that is only big bonus. I really like Iochi. I did not meet a lot of genderless characters as LI, but as side characters. I enjoyed interacting with them

I think genderless/androgynous characters are pretty cool! I've always been a fan of gender non-conforming LIs, like pretty boys, crossdresser characters, and stylish, androgynous types. They can have cool stories that explore different ways to be yourself, and challenge stereotypical behavior in interesting ways ;)

I'm fine with non-binary LIs in otoge as well, my feelings about that are the same about female routes in the otoge (I enjoy it as long as its mostly male routes, with a maximum of one LI that is not male)

I'm totally fine with female seiyuu, as long as the character doesn't sound like a girl. I do prefer when they voice shota characters, or when they have a cool, boyish voice though!

As someone who is on the GNC spectrum, I'm really happy that these characters are a thing. I haven't finished all of Charade Maniacs yet but Iochi was absolutely the first route I did because of their gender ambiguity. As for them having female seiyuu, I'm not bothered by it, but I do hope that as we get more of these characters we can get more with male seiyuu as well. I think the representation is really important!

While not an otome game, the game Persona 4 has a gender ambiguous character with a female seiyuu (Naoto) that first introduced me to the fluidity of gender, and so these kinds of characters will always hold a special place in my heart.

Oh I love the androgynous li's a lot, they always have that mysterious air around them which makes them appealing to me haha. I don't think I mind a man or a woman voicing them as long as it fits the character.

I personally like it when female seiyuu express their range and voice male characters, it showcases their skill and talent, voice acting truly is an art in its own. Some of my all time favorite female va include Megumi Ogata(where are my Kurama fangirls) and Junko Minagawa. There's actually an otomege with a whole cast of male li's voiced by women called Goes!

Now something that's pretty uncommon and you don't see often is male seiyuu voicing female characters. I haven't seen it often(maybe Shoutan in Symphogear counts) but I'm really intrigued and I hope I can see more of that. Like my goat Momotose from Hana Awase. Please play the game so you can meet her!

I would also like that implemention, male seiyuu doing female characters. I haven't played it, but I'm interested in hana awase

I think bustafellow has male cast of seiyuu making women roles!

I think devs choose a female voice to keep players guessing.

Yes, that must be the biggest reason behind

if it's a female voice actors, I see their characters only as girls and it feels wrong to play their routes, as I'm not much into yuri.

I think something similar, even if it sounds masculine, at the back of my mind I'll keep remembering that it's a female seiyuu lol

I like them more when they play roles like shotas, although they don't fall into the LIs category for me haha

I haven't played Crazy Cha!n or Charade Maniacs yet, but I actually think that kind of concept is pretty interesting! I don't really mind whether the VA is male or female—as long as the voice fits the character, I'm happy with either.

I also don't mind seeing more genderless characters. That said, if they're an LI, I personally tend to think of them as male, even if they're voiced by a female VA. Haha. I guess it's just because I naturally see otome game LIs as male.

oh true I forgot about bustafellows LOL, yeah it was a surprise hearing Kakki's voice from Carmen hahaha. May we see more of that in the future 🤞

If they are a love interest i want them to sound like a male, they can be voiced by women i don't care as long as they don't sound too feminine. With the amount of anime i have watched i know there are lot women who voiced male characters and they did a amazing job.
