Are you at a point where you keep downloading every new uploads that you don't even consume it?

I've been in this site for a while and downloaded quite a lot of cd's from here. But some of them I haven't even listened to completely or to begin with. I do listen to any new releases from the seiyuu's I like, but not much from the ones I'm not quite familiar with (especially with those covers that catched my attention). Which I think is kinda sad, since it'll only collect dust in my hard drive until it overflows.

But still I keep on downloading, it's almost an addiction since it's kinda like shopping but its all free!!! It might also be anxiety with the thought of it getting deleted or expired in the future. To the point that I even download something that I know I won't like, but still did it anyways cuz there might be a chance it could be good? Is it just me who experienced this or am I just crazy??

Maybe you just want to save it and listen to it on a whim or worry about the file disappearing one day, feeling uneasy and anxious.
You can ask yourself:
Is this what I "need urgently" now?
Or "I just want to leave the way first"
The need is different from what I want.

I can buy it myself now, and support creators within my ability. The main reason is that I don't have time to listen to it. The work comes out quickly.
Now I want to listen to it before I take action. Otherwise, I won't touch it for a few years.

I can definitely relate, lol. I only download the things I'm interested in, but even then, it still adds up to a huge amount. I have a lot of favorite voice actors, after all. Even putting voice works aside, I sometimes wonder if I'll ever be able to finish all the games in my lifetime

I've only been on this site for a short time, but honestly that's probably how it's gonna go XD. 'Cause before this I downloaded a bunch of games ( the ones I could actually get my hands on ,but I still haven't finished any of them ) My computer's already running out of space too.

I do the same - I really love collecting all kinds of resources.Especially with games, a lot of developers take their games down, and then the resources for those games disappear from the internet and can never be found again.You can't even get help from netizens when you can't communicate in the same language (and honestly, you should respect the creator's decision)This really bothers me, so I started downloading and collecting resources all the time.

Oh =)) My anxiety is rising with the thought of those getting deleted or becoming lost media. Also, I do enjoy making a game collection, without really needing to play them or anything. But honestly =))) my PC is dying because of all that storage.

This is pretty common with piracy anyway, right ? "Infinite games, but no games" - i want a site that has a whole fake storefront and you pretend to buy the cd/game/whatever it is, so that you feel a little more "pressured" to play it, since you "spent money"

That would trick me into thinking i was spending money and probably get me to stop procrastinating LOL

Somehow just having everything without actualy touching it feels satisfying enough. It doesn't even matter if I spend money or not, because with Steam and other shops it is the same story - I buy a lot, and it just sits there in a library, not even started at least once. It's a bad habit but what could be done about it

Yea it's valid, while I'm not interested in everything, the thought of it being lost media just makes me sad so I save it anyways… I just wish there was a place to store all those data somewhere cheaply

yes this happened to me too. Downloaded some things where the art was meh and the plot was uninteresting, I already knew back then I wouldn't even touch it years later.

...until I came to terms with the fact that I will not live forever. Unless humanity invents some magical drug for immortality, it will all be meaningless to collect so much.

There was a time period when I spent more time archiving all the things I downloaded, sorting them, backing them up multiple places - than enjoying the games and cds Past a certain point, it became too much of a hassle to organize my collection and I stopped caring. It feels backward to pay money for cloud storage and extra hard drives just to store pirated content. I've already made up my mind that if I really want something, and I can't wait for others to share or all links are dead and there is no reup, then I'll buy it.
But this mindset has made me realize I don't actually want that many things.
For rare works that can no longer be bought, they're nice to have, though if I can't get them, there isn't much I can do... My life is too stressful currently for me to worry about downloading every joseimuke media on Earth. I did try to backup drama cds and doujinshi before but damn there were like a dozen new works every day, it felt like I was taking on another unpaid side job so I gave up, lol.

I still have things on Steam and DLsite that I paid for yet they've been sitting there untouched for years. I've stopped the impulse buy habit because of that.

For stuff that's high risk in becoming lost media, yeah. It's not a bad thing to hoard media when websites are constantly taken down. Too bad storage is increasingly becoming more expensive, though.

I am in the middle, I do save stuff that I think I could be interested in and never delete it, but mostly so that I don't forget that it exists. Just recently, I started to go through my list, it's been fun.

However, lost media is real and I always suggest to have an external memory for storage.

yeah, i think most ppl do. stuff becomes lost media way too easily once the upload links expire.

Yeah, I fo the same thing. I would find CDs or artbooks of my favourite games anf would immediately download. Almost the same thing with audio dramas. I really like the variety of voices I could find by listening to it

Not always, there is not enough space to store so much, it's still difficult to delete the games that I have downloaded lol

Yeah same for me. I don't have enough time to listen to the ones I download every day, at maximum I listen to like 3 cds at most so the listening list keeps getting longer lmao

I have a lot of Switch otome games hoarded, along with some audio lol. Though, storage is finite and getting expensive + there's a lot of other things I want to download, so I'm more likely to make a lot of entries on the notes software that I'm using to pretend that I collected them lol.

Yes, it happens to me a lot. I have several drama CDs downloaded that I haven't listened to yet, but I keep them anyway in case the links disappear or they become hard to find. It's a mix of wanting to have them available when I have time and that little fear of thinking, "What if I can't find them later?" In the end, I end up accumulating a huge to-do list.

i do this with a lot of different things! it's a really bad habit. like others have kind of said, i think part of it comes of that the internet is not really forever, and things can get lost so easily when links die. it is super fun though when i finally open something i downloaded a while ago and end up really enjoying it

I can really relate to this. There's something about seeing a new interesthing thing and wanting to "collect" (download) it to save it for later. I feel like personally, the impulse to make sure I dont lose the chance to get an otome game or drama CD is high because they have a high chance of being lost to time. Like finding out the links were dead or losing the drama cd bc it got deleted

It reminded me of a term I saw when scrolling. There's a Japanese thing called tsundoku" thats all about the joy in collecting books and letting them pile up. So valid honestly.

Not everything I come across but I definitively archive as much as I can of things that do interest me (mainly doujin and games) out of fear that as soon as the links expire it might be gone forever, if you used to have access to it the frustration just compounds too. I have had the displeasure of going to check if I could re-scan some doujins I had read that were lost to time due to dead links and finding out they were now a whooping 8k yen a pop before shipping and taxes, so now I'd rather just hoard. (That and I have thrifted/dumpsterdivered a good deal of hdds, so I feel i have to put them to good use)

I have the same sentiment with free drama/audios particularly, i keep downloading and only when I have enough free time I listen to 1-3 tracks. I have to wake up on time in the morning so I end up not finishing or forgetting them. However it's different if I bought them with my own money, I would listen/read/play everything because having to buy would be a waste to not consume. And I buy because I really want it

I want all the audio works of my favorite voice actors with beautiful illustrations. I don't have enough time to listen, and there are always storage problems, but I can't erase it, so it only increases!

But there are still times when I want to listen to my favorite audio work that I bought 10 years ago, and I actually listen to it. When I think about it, even if I finish listening, I may want to listen to it again, and I have no choice but to cherish it

I'm totally this type. I have a collecting obsession, and while collecting, my anticipation for the game is even higher than when I actually start playing it.
