It's been such a long time. All they've been doing is making new merch... OV was first released a decade ago.

Their pivot to bromance mean R18 became to restrictive due to credit card shenanigans and things like that. It's probably the safest option as of now. If restrictions won't get lifted, they have no reason to go back.
There aren't many active BLVN nowadays. Older devs will, at best, make a rerelease of their older titles(like Bara no Ki ni Bara no Hanasaku). Otherwise they'll just make more merch and post celebratory art for anniversaries. This is the reality we live in.

I already forgot about the payment processor antics... But making BL (especially 18+) is also probably just not very profitable, especially since visual novels in general are rather niche. I was hoping to see more content coming from China in particular (not adult visual novels obviously but just danmei and watered-down adaptations), but that stagnated too due to tightening government censorship. It's tough being a BL fan
At least my backlog is so huge that I may as well die without ever going through it.

Partly, yes, all the blame lies with winnie the pooh (china president) with their policies and the conservatives who say BL porn corrupts children, but those same people give their kids cell phones... 
Personally, I don't play bromance games. If I'm going to waste my time on my keyboard, I want to see them disrespect each other. I also don't want to play something tame; at my age, I'm already too rotten. At least we have a huge catalog of R18 BL visual novels to watch, and let's not forget the BL gacha games, which are amazing also! Sensultra premiered today; I'm going to play it now.

The only thing I've really played was Nu the rest are the otome found in the appstore but had to quit those too cz too much reading XD
