What are some visual features that you would like to see more often on LIs or MCs?

We don't get enough LIs with glasses anymore!!! But I'd personally love to see more heavily scarred LIs that arent, like, violent outcast tropes. I have no issue with it being part of their backstory, but I'd like to see scarred LIs with different stories every once in a while...


I would love to see more "miserable-looking" LIs/MCs as well. Isn't a man beautiful when there's no will to live left in his soul?

I am so tired of seeing the same small-ish perfect nose, use more shapes and sizes! I think that that would help on the occasions in which the LIs feel too visually similar, truly, the nose can change the face so much and give a unique feeling for the characters.

I know most of you are interested in "hot guys" with well-built bodies, but I think it would be nice to have different body types. A little chubby, something not so standard. And I think a design like that for an LI could be tied to his character, maybe feeling unworthy because of his physique.

When it comes to love interests, I'm drawn to two completely different styles: characters with a rebellious or playful vibe, with piercings, accessories, or small details that reflect their personality; and, on the other hand, characters with a more intellectual appearance, like those who wear glasses or give off a smart, studious vibe. I find both types appealing for different reasons.

As for heroines, I'd like to see more natural-looking designs. I don't need them to be portrayed as unbelievably beautiful or have everyone fall in love with them at first sight. I'd rather see heroines with a more ordinary appearance, so that their personality and the way the story develops are what truly make others fall for them.

I'd like MCs with darker/black hair and more mature features. Sorry but im getting tired of the light brown/blonde haired, doe eyed MC with pale skin who has a face in every CG lmao. The prevalence of light haired MCs in otome is getting tiring and distastefully reminds me of how obsessed east asian media is with Eurocentric features

Give us more variance in MCs! The more different the personalities and appearance, the better!

i'd love more colorful hair for both the mcs and lis! i think something like split dyed , dip dyes or even dyed undercuts can be so cool since a character's main color / representative color reflects their personality in some way so having that be displayed in their hair as well can look super nice ^^

also +1 on the need for more masked characters ... it adds to the mystery (or danger) so well even if you know what they look like and imo it's even better if the mask is hiding scars or burns <3 that threat of only having someone's voice to rely on since you cant tell just from their eyes or expression if they really mean what theyre saying can be so exciting lol in the same way i'd loveee more tattoos and piercings even if theyre hidden ^^

ive lowkey given up on expecting too much from this but i would also love more melanin in my designs please or atleast some actual blood flow lol !!! cronoll's design in CC is such a treat to me (i love that they went with a dark blue tone for his hair it's too good) and i reallyyy hope future releases have designs like this too (i would really love if this came true for a mc's design)

I love colorful hair for the exact same reason! It also just looks so beautiful!

It is so exiting to think about what a character is hiding under the mask and what secrets he holds! Only having the subtile hints in his voice really ads to the mystery and you are constantly asking yourself what he could be hiding under the mask.

I also agree with the last part 100%. Cronolls design had me swooning over him the second I saw him!

I love characters with hidden eyes as well, but I'm particularly biased towards ridiculously long bangs lol (like Masaya from Club Suicide, or Mr. Crawling from Homicipher! I'm looking forward to Mekakare ;b) though I love masks too! Clear was my favorite in DMMD, and I really wanted the Gas Mask to be a LI in Bad Apple Wars, haha

Other traits I like both in LIs and MCs is droopy eyes/tareme (especially paired with dark circles), and sanpaku eyes! I think they look very cute :)
I'm big on piercings too, all kinds! But a decked out ear is particularly cool. I'd love to see some MCs with a bunch of piercings <3

I just imagined all the things you mentioned on one single LI and I think they go really well together! You could only see the eyes if his hair is liftet up in a CG thou...

Glasses and every possible variation of them! It seems like the number of LIs with glasses has dropped a bit lately, so I'd like to see at least two per game. And more white-haired characters with glasses (like Ryuken from Bleach: a serious, older man who appears cold on the outside, keeping everything to himself and suffering in silence).

Heterochromia is interesting too, though whenever it comes up, I can only think of Lysander from "My Candy Love"; it's not very common in otome games, so he's the only one who comes to mind. I find it really beautiful, just like the lilac or purple eyes some people with albinism have! Oh, albinism would also be cool to see and explore in otome games.

More "snake/serpentine LIs": the kind with closed eyes and that mischievous smile that used to be so common back in the day. I miss LIs who rarely open their eyes but have that signature smile that makes you go weak at the knees (like Gin from Bleach, and Snake from Kuroshitsuji! Sorry, I can only think of manga characters as examples right now.). Or perhaps blind LIs who, when fighting, can see "the transparent world" – where people appear only as outlines revealing their silhouettes, while the rest of the world is pitch black, and only the contours of bodies and the environment are "visible".

Yes! I also want more LIs with glasses and I never seen a LI with glasses and white hair, but now I really want one!

I really like Heterochromia for some reason. Ibuki from Paradigm Paradox looked so good! It is such a shame, that the game was so underbaked and the Villain-routes really got the short end of the stick when it comes to the romance. Albinism would also be so interesting to see!

LIs with closed eyes and a mischievous smile really are rare. It is also always a treat when they open their eyes fore the first time. It makes them look so different! Blind LIs could also be so fun! There are a lot of things you can do plotwise with them!

I'll definitely echo wanting more heterochromia and pink hair!! Honestly any kind of eye that's not just two normal eyes - eye trauma, scars over one eye that's just closed forever, blown out pupils, slits for pupils, PARTIAL heterochromia, those really pretty ethereal white eyes!! I LOVE EYES. And of course on the complete opposite end of the spectrum I love masks too, Clear from DMMD was also my favorite like others here... More of both sides!

We really dont get LIs with glasses enough. It is especially frustrating if he loses his glasses for a big portion of his route (I am looking at you Akasa from Olympia Soiree).

More variety in noses really isn't that common. Indie games are often way better at giving their characters more variety, but the noses are often still not that much different from each other...

A little bit chubby characters can be atractive in their own way. It would really be nice to see a chubby LI here and there...

The more character designs differ from each other, the more fun it is to explore them and their world. It feels more organic and interesting that way!

I also like it more if the LIs dont imediatly fall for the MC just because of her looks. I want the LIs to fall for the MC because of her personality and the thing they experience together first and foremost. I really like pretty looking MC too thou, so I think it always depends on the story and if the MCs appereance matches the setting. It can be really irritating if the LIs say the MC is unusually pretty, but she looks very ordinary.

Split-colored hair looks really good! Maybe we dont get it more often, because it is more difficult do design from a color theory standpoint? Maybe it also has something to do with a cultural perspective thou...
