What kind of plotlines or general story themes would you like to see in an otome game?

For plotlines I think a deathgame would be really cool, I know sweet fuse has been around but the game seems a tad too lighthearted at times to me from what I've played of it. Something more tonally like YTTD would be really cool. As for themes I'd really like to see an otome with a philosophical theme although now that I'm typing it out it sounds kinda silly. But idk I think such a game would be pretty groundbreaking in a genre where just decent writing with not so deep themes is the norm.

it's more about VR and not really like dangaronpa but unlogical kinda has similar vibes i think! i feel horror (idk if it counts as such) isnt common in otome games especially commercial games but i think there'd be a huge demand for it considering how popular games like silent hill and resident evil are among girls!

a game that's super interesting to me is ayakashi gohan because the heroine has two different paths, one where she's depressed and introverted and one where she's more extroverted and it's itneresting how she interacts with her different love interests depending on what her personality is!

I'd love to see an otome where the MC is the actual villain.

And I don't mean "misunderstood" or "morally grey." I mean genuinely awful. Let her lie, manipulate, cheat, gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss her way into the LIs' lives. I just think it would be such a fun perspective to play. We're so used to the LIs falling for the MC because she's kind, determined, or selfless. I want to see them fall for her because she's charismatic, horrible, and somehow manages to wrap everyone around her finger.

Bonus points if they eventually figure out exactly what she's been doing... and still can't bring themselves to stop loving her.

Well, I would like to read more stories where you're involved with the world, like making political changes and stuff, especially in fantasy settings. I'm not sure if I made myself clear. That way, they could keep making sequels to the same games and continue expanding the world.

I would really like an otome game where the MC is a very bad, sadistic, and selfish villain and person! A detestable and cruel person who acts in the shadows while behaving sweetly towards the LIs, manipulating them and (perhaps) even causing them to have a mental breakdown and become dependent on her, unable to break the relationship with her even though she has done many bad and harmful things to everyone around them.

Usually, in the bad endings, it's always the LI who ends up imprisoning, manipulating, and mentally breaking the MC so that she depends on him... So it would be interesting to see the MC doing this to LIs and being a mentally unstable and unpredictable villain in her decisions and actions!

We need more dark, mature, sadistic, and cruel MCs, after all, most MCs are always sweet, innocent, and kind I think a lot about stories where the protagonist reincarnates as a villain and really acts like one, or where she is very dark or something like that.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who liked the idea of an evil mc lol! I was thinking something more along the lines of a redemption arc (I feel like in most games the mc doesnt develop nearly as much as the love interest) but honestly an mc who stays evil sounds mad interesting as well! We need more media in general wherein the protagonist is evil

PLEASE I'm a big fan of such things but I hardly ever see this in otome games which is a shame

I'd love to see an otome where the MC is the actual villain.

There is one I know about, it's called "ムラヤキヴィラン" and MC is a Demon Lord, so she kills people in mass and manipulates her LIs and kind of forces them to be with her. Well, manipulates is a stretch, as she is not very smart, but she uses her strenght for evil and she is an actual villain in it. It's also honest to god otome game, I don't know how they managed to combine it. Genre for it says "for girls who like to set villages on fire"

And I'd like to see more paranormal and horror-oriented stories. Bonus if they are happening in a countryside

Some very general ideas I would like to see are: cosmic horror, analog horror, found footage, something that plays with the meta/fourth wall, etc. Basically horror and some mystery I guess.

Outside of horror and mystery, maybe some adapations or at least something loosely inspired by classic novels that aren't just Sherlock Holmes or popular fairy tales lol. Also, I think an otome game inspired by Twink Peaks would be pretty cool.

Speaking of evil MCs, I wanna see a kaiju MC lmao. Either fully monstrous or partial, as long as the monster features are noticeable.

I'm completely in the same boat of wanting more horror romances. (╥﹏╥) I want eerie settings, creepy vibes the whole way through. I often bring up zombies or apocalyptic themes to fill that want.

I also would enjoy an otome that has minor stat checks for survival in such games where game over are deaths either MC or a party member (which the story can continue). (˶˃ᆺ˂˶)
