Well, technically I don't play too often nowadays because of work but I have learned about the latest news for LaDS as some of my online friends are playing it. Gotta admit... their recent announcement ticks me off. Felt bad for those who are looking forward for the supposed new LI (Love Interest). What's your opinion about it.

It just goes to show that CN players have infold by their balls and know that if they complain enough, infold will do as they want since they make up over 50% of LADS fanbase. Granted I think the 731 numbering was definitely something that needed to be addressed... but not by DELETING VALKO FROM EXISTENCE

Players complain that before adding new character why old LI's story is not updated and gameplay is laggy and buggy → Company apologises and promises there will be no new LIs in the future. → Old LIs' story is still not updated. QoL are not added. Everyone is unhappy (we are here)

I'm honestly pretty sad about it.

People have been criticizing the lack of content and how uneven things have felt between the LIs, and Infold's first response being to remove Valko and seemingly shut down any chance of a future sixth LI just feels... weird.

It doesn't really address what people have been asking for. It comes across more like a punishment than an actual response to the criticism. I would've much rather seen them reassure everyone about future content and better balance instead.

I'm so mad!!! The other guys are fine and all but Valko was the only character I could say was my actual type and preference. Then they remove him!! We will NEVER get to have him, but the original issues people had with the game remain unaddressed. He was a scapegoat.

I mentioned this in another thread. I think that's just fearmongering and would take this with a grain of salt, especially when these rumors are spread by mostly non-CN players or people who don't live in China who are basing this off of previous bans and censorships. Which are a whole lot different can than this situation.

And if they banned the otome genre, they would be banning depictions of hetero relationships lmao. Gaming companies and indie developers could get over the ban by stating "this is a romance game for everyone and not an otome even though the MC is a woman." How on earth are they going to enforce a complete ban on that other than banning all depictions of romance or even implications of romance? I highly doubt banning depicting women as the main character in general would even work either.

I think that in the worst case scenario that the government even does something to genre (and I hope it doesn't come to that), they would enforce some censorship and regulations such as "MCs in otome games can't be self-inserts" and "you can't depict your love interests doing something problematic in any way and must portray them in this specific manner."

this new li came out of nowhere, while already existing ones still lack content. i heard calebs main story hasnt been updated for 500 days? which is outrageous. and they want to introduce yet another character, while they cant even bother with their older characters? besides, didnt valkos pv have a reference to a reallife femicide case, where a husband shoved his wifes head into a boiling pot? seems like an extremely disgusting detail to add in a female-oriented game not gonna lie. and, obviously, valko himself wasnt removed because of angry girls complaining, but because one of xaviers recent stories contained a reference to unit 731, which is.. yet another reference to a very nasty reallife incident. i mean, the chinese government wouldnt have gotten involved if there was nothing to trigger it, right?

so the only reason they deleted him is to cause fighting in the community (something theyve been notorious for for years now), and the "no new lis" stuff just seems like cheap manipulation to steer the pot even further. i dont blame chinese fanbase at all. infold are the ones who fail to communicate, and infold are the ones who are now trying to shift the blame to whoever and whatever. sucks for the new character's fans, but then again, it hasnt even been a week since he was announced, and there are already girlies who act nearly suicidal over him being removed? and attacking other love interests and fans of said love interests too? i just think everyone should go outside at this point..

Yeah, I've seen a lot of people needing to touch grass and actually learn how to do reading comprehension and actually research without spreading rumors lol. There's been people keeping on pointing to a few loud people from XHS and chinese Twitter as an excuse to generalize and attack all CN players. Even though both sides have problematic loud apples, people outside the fandom are blaming CN players as well.

It rubs me the wrong way that people don't have context and are calling them delusional femcels and Gacha Grail 2.0. While it's bad to send PG cow dung, they could've done a lot worse. I've seen many incidents such as Limbus's, the Scaramouche cat, Hoyo's bunny suit, etc. which have a lot more threat of physical violence.
And it really bothers me that some people are comparing the situations to the one that recently happened. The thing is, the cause of this situation is much more understandable than the other ones I mentioned. Those companies were completely innocent and their incidents are definitely done by people who need to go to jail. PaperGames are not completely innocent (well, the higher ups and management that is) so it's no suprise that their players are fed up with them.

I don't think people realize how society and politics are a lot different in China and are very drastic to the point where it affects their media. They do not take kindly to any references to unit 731 and they banned BNHA for that (even if it was unintentional in that case). I wonder how the hell did they get unnoticed from April until now over this because even if the recent controversy didn't happen someone would eventually find it and bring it up lmao

And, yeah, I would feel bad for his fans, but I've looked at social media and, yeah, I really wish that muting words and accounts worked lmao. Funny how they're acting in the exact manner that they claim CN players are acting.

yep, i knew it was gonna happen the moment the news broke, which is why im so mad at those who STILL think that valko was removed just because girlies complained. this is not how game production works, and if complaining worked like they expect it to, the kod stuff wouldve never happened and caleb and sylus wouldve never been added, since, you know, both of them were hated at release? and kod had a literal lawsuit attached to him? but nothing happened. its almost like theres something much more sinister going on!

This situation has been pretty weird all around, and fueled more fighting among CHN and global fandom. I think Infold messed up pretty badly, but canceling the LI just made their case worse imo

The accusations got a bit out of hand with the "new LI treats criminal acts as romantic" thought (as if Sylus and Caleb aren't there lol), but I think that's not on the CHN fandom and more on random news sites taking the chance to dunk on the game ;b

It's not even the first time Infold gets flak for adding LIs out of nowhere while neglecting the main story. Love x Producer had all that drama around Shaw, and again among Cyril years ago lol they didn't learn their lesson then. At least in the LxP case Shaw got some random scenes and Cyril got turned into a villain or something (if I remember right), Valko was just booted lmao. They messed up thinking the fandom would let it slide for so long just because it's LaDS

I will however give them the benefit of the doubt with the reference to a femicide case thing, but just because they would have to be absolutely insane to purposefully include a line like that. Any company including something like that would be crazy, but if a female-targeted game did it on purpose it would be the stupidest decision they could come up with. I can't fathom a single scenario were they do that, unless everyone at Infold lost their minds. But you never know with those companies

I think it's fine to be passionate and heated about this, I get you. The sinophobia and misogyny is real bad rn. And as someone who like to learn and research and unironically write informative essays, misinformation is one of the things I hate the most.

Yeah, it's sad that people like to rib on women and things they like because of misogny and that they think it's easy to pick on someone they think won't fight back. Even outside of fandoms, I've seen people go "This woman is a crazy Karen!!" and then it turns out that they gave the wrong context and she has valid reasons to act like that.

And the drama is getting real bad rn to the point where I just do my hobbies and curate feeds of artists to follow and won't speak up about it lol. Had to unfollow an Project Moon artist because she compared the situation to what happened there and making assumptions based off of misinformation (much like what people did back then ironically enough). Man, I should watch the art courses I downloaded but too lazy to watch since they're like weeks long so it would keep my mind off what's happening lol. Someday, I'll create my own joseimuke content for myself...

maybe it is a little harsh to call them tourists because for lots of them lads is the first otome game ever, but to act out like this as if a debut of a new kpop idol in your group got cancelled is pretty much tourist behaviour.. and they hate on other lis SO MUCH right now, really makes you think why they even picked up this game in the first place if they seemingly hated everything about it? theyre saying like "well maybe it would be for the best if global just went eos since the game treasures its chinese audience sooo much", but kinda.. not to sound like an anime elitist or a gachagrailer (ew) but this genuinely sounds like the best course of action right now. these people dont respect the genre, dont respect the story (oniichan is still being hit with accusations as we speak), dont respect the politics, dont respect the original version (theyre STILL arguing about lis nationalities when its clear as day all of them are chinese), dont respect literally anything about the game. sounds like they just,, shouldnt play it in the first place then? and theyre talking now about switching to light&night.. genuinely a nightmare coming true LOL (i doubt theyre gonna stay for long though since its 2d and 2d is ugly and worthless in their eyes)
