How do you keep track of your audio / book / misc. purchases?

I felt like I asked something similar before but based on a search, it was related to the tracking of games.

Anyhow, I've decided to retire my personal Google Sheet tracker and move on to a HTML tracker instead to track my audio / text / book collections, so it got me wondering how everyone else manages to keep track. 🤣

I assume most people here use Excel or some library apps?

Screenshot of my personal tracker for those curious:

I am still in big disarray when it comes to my collection.

For (Art)Books/Manga/Magazines/LightNovels, etc I am using Calibre and slowly sorting out the entire collection (idk how, but I got over 7k e-pubs T-T).

For the Games spreadsheet + vndb seems to be enough for now

Audio is a black hole for now. I have one very cool app to try; however, most of my audio collection is not well kept (missing metadata, incorrect names), so any sorting will require manual labour (esp for only physical rips).

Love your new tracker!:akazukin_love:

7k epub is incredible 🤣 Lots of choices to feast on for sure!

Recently, I'm slowy sorting all collecting by using Notion as my personal drama CD collection tracker or anything I purchased from DLsite/lovecul (previously, I used Notion for my database or to translate the stories of the games I play.) Ofc I still have to fill it in manually, but at least I can sort by year and create a layout that allows me to easily identify the files I have based on the folders in my collection. Sometimes, when I have time, I also write reviews (with my mother language) after listening to drama CDs and exchange them privately with my friends.

But I wish there was a website that made tracking them easier like koilog (and wish I can make my own tracker with HTML)

screenshoot of my tracker and sorry with mozaic filter bc grab it from old screenshot lol

For books, I use Goodreads (or Booklog but it's really limited to just books :x unlike Goodreads) but don't track the rest (oops) as I was in and out of enjoying otome-related content.
Doesn't help that hard drives keep dying on me over the years and I don't really recover from that ;;;
I'm trying to put together a list of games that I have (physical, digital that I still have) though it's just a simple list at this time 😅

I still use spreadsheet for audio ,I haven't decorated very nicely yet, but if it's for the sake of tidiness, then it's okay😂.

I used to use Goodreads to keep track of books, but at this point I just have a spreadsheet that I use as a book log and change yearly because I grew frustrated with the website and how using it was stressing me out more than anything else.

That being said, I don't exactly keep track of my entire collection, to be honest. I have Calibre for books, but I only use it when I have stuff I want to de-DRM or stuff I want to add to my Kobo for reading. For CDs, games and just about everything else, I pretty much just rawdog it and hope I can find what I was looking for again. I do keep written notes of what I'd like to get, though, because I find it much more intuitive to just write things down in a notebook than to use a spreadsheet for that.

The only thing I'm serious about is music because for that I gotta have the exact metadata or else I explode.

I'm really impressed by all the effort you've put into this!
I don't think I could ever make such a massive database myself. 😂
I mainly organize my manga and audio collection in Google Sheets.
Honestly, there are still plenty of missing entries because I get lazy sometimes... lol.
I consume a lot of BL manga and audio dramas, so I keep track of them on Chil-Chil and leave ratings there. I also use Booklog to log what I've read.

Haha, I was inspired to do so because I realised some series I had marked with 全特典 were missing 特典 for some reason, so I wanted to list everything out clearly to get rid of that mis-documentation.
It's definitely very time-consuming though, I'm still at the `B` alphabet... 😂

When I'm done with the HTML (maybe one month later ☠️), I'd like to go and organise my manhwa read list too, but that one will be to sort out which series I'm interested in happen to have free official localisation across the languages I can read, so that I can prioritise the series to purchase instead.

Wow, yeah, that sounds like a painful mistake. I can totally see why it motivated you to start organizing everything properly.
So far, the worst that's happened to me is accidentally buying the same manga twice, so the damage has been fairly minor. 😂
Still, hearing about your project is making me want to get my own collection organized a bit better too!
I'd love to be able to keep things as neatly organized as you do someday.
If you ever have any progress updates or discover any useful tips and tricks along the way, I'd love it if you could share them with me!

Saaaame! I saw on xitter recently someone working on a situbo tracker but it seems to just be in closed beta right now. I hope the project proceeds though! it looks to be sort of social network situbo tracker so can share recommendations and reviews too

Wow, didn't know there's an ongoing project! That sounds promising.
Do you mind sharing the xitter page so I can follow it too? 🤣

For my media files, I like to manage them using programs such as using Jellyfin with videos, Playnite with games, etc.

For tracking, I use Obsidian. I use either its web clipper browser extension or community plugins to nab information from sites so I don't have to manually make entries lol
