Enemies to lovers tropes

i rarely ever enjoy the trope but i think thats less of me not liking the concept and more so the fact that i dont enjoy the way it's written for most romances since it usually leads to one person compromising themselves for the sake of the other which kind of takes away from the entire relationship since the main crux of their tension and banter is gone now ;;

when it's done well tho i am a big fan !! especially since i did really really enjoy linus from mistonia and miyabi from unlogical and i think both of those couples fall under enemies to lovers ^^

MY FAVOURITE TROPE even if i rarely (imo) see it in otome games, throughout all the otome games i played i may have seen like 4-5..WE NEED MORE OF THIS TROPE

I'm a fan of the enemies-to-lovers trope. Although I know it's a silly trope from a realistic perspective and usually doesn't reflect well on the characters' mental health ;).
I think it's a bit easier to portray this in books or TV shows; in games, it seems pretty difficult to me. I mean, you have to somehow show the characters' development and give them choices that make the player really want to, well, choose them.
I can't recall ever coming across a really well-executed theme like this in any game (not just otome games). It's a shame, because it's kind of my little guilty pleasure.
I second this!!! it's always being towards imbalanced relationship and i hate to see them got mistreated ಠ﹏ಠ

It is such a good trope but it seems like more often than not it loses its edge, which isn't a bad thing but they can let them be at each other's throats a little longer before becoming lovebirds.

Yes!!! For some reason, they move way too quickly to the fluffy romance part, when I'm actually here for the absolute chaos and conflict :(( Truthfully, I love it when they still tear each other apart even after falling in love xDddd

The best dynamic but so rare!。:゚(;´∩`;)゚:。 They have some nerve to forget their history smh.

My favorite and probably the only one (I don't know why), but it's Diabolik Lovers.
I wanted to say that I'm not really interested in that kind of trope. But in fact, it's kind of like that.
It's just that she's in danger and they're her "enemies" but there's nothing particularly personal about it - she's just a human, like food to vampires. If MC of the story were also an exorcist, they would be shooting at each other - but that would make sense for both of them, since they belong to two "hostile sides" - demons and humans.
I'd be very interested in a story like that. But if the hostility was too personal between the two of them - probably not my thing

Enemies to lovers is only really good when they are both on equal footing, and no one has done something extremely unforgivable to the other.

Not a game, but a chinese drama 東宮 Goodbye, My Princess has the male lead kill the female lead's entire family and tribe. She forgives him in the end, which frustrated me so much. :miku_mad:

I really love it and I think it can be used to create great stories but it's sad it's pretty rare.. I wish there were more of those!

but it was never a romantic story!! it was specifically a psychological thriller, and the way the male lead was obsessed with the female lead was like being obsessed with an object. thats the whole point>< he was shown as a genuine psycho since childhood, and he never understood human emotions or feelings that well, so no way he would actually fall in love with a person!

the ending was pretty mediocre all things considered, but i feel like if it turned into romance outright, that would be even worse LOL. good thing it never went into that direction though^^
i'm so glad it isn't romance because i empathize with and care about mc too much to let him get his way and for them to end up together! he's meddled into her life so much and turned it upside so much, i really wouldn't want to see her forgive him or fall in love with him.

YES!!! :) There's a huge difference between 'rivals with heavy banter' and someone who literally ruined the other person's life. If they cross that unforgivable line, forcing them into a romance just feels forced and leaving a bad taste.

yea! no matter how you look at the story, even his "love me" and "i like you" and him forcing a kiss on her do not read as anything romantic, and while the ending was meh in some ways, those who were rooting for it to turn into pure romance and got disappointed were, i dunno, delulu? and not a funny kind!!;-;
