that was happening to me too, I had open tksdl exe file and boot files few times back and forth for game to eventually start playing. not sure what actually triggered it to start properly.

After replacing boot.exe, run startup.exe for the first initial launch. Afterwards, you can start the game using boot.exe.

Place the boot.exe into the folder. Run the Startup.exe instead of boot.exe

yeah there is definitely issue starting the game. i didn't bother with the local emulator, if executing the exe file and boot files few times don't work, try gazzil said in the previous post. That might work for you.

I was having the same problem until i changed the Unicode to japanese. It seems using local emulator was not enough.

No need to change anything or use local emulator. Just follow below steps and you will find its work.
At least it works on my computer.
(1) Delete the original boot.exe in the "TKSDL" folder and Replaced by the Cracked boot.exe
(2) Double click the "startup.exe" at the FIRST RUN (NOT double click the boot.exe) and select PLAY [it will open the game successfully]
(3) Exit the game. Start from this moment, you can double click the boot.exe to open the game [No longer to run the game by using startup.exe]
