Which otome game did you leave at the prologue or halfway through and want to give a second chance?

I'm referring to otome games that I mainly want to give a second chance because everyone has good reviews, but they end up boring me when I actually play them.

In my case, they are:

  • Variable Barricade: I quit the game after finishing the prologue because I didn't like any of the LIs.
  • Radiant Tale: I just kept falling asleep while doing the prologue. The five chapters felt very monotonous, since they always had the same theme in every city. So, after finishing the common route, I quit.
  • Piofiore no Banshou: I quit after doing Dante and Yang's route. I just couldn't connect with the story or the protagonist.
  • Code Realize: I don't know, I just couldn't connect with the story and I never got off the common route.
I really feel guilty because I see that a lot of people like these games ;; but I just couldn't connect with them.

I felt the same about Radiant Tale. Everyone always has nothing but praise for it, but I didn't find any of the LIs particularly interesting and the sheer amount of dictionary entries at the start made me put it down lol;;

Hakuouki, Ozmafiaa, and Collar x Malice are all games I've tried over and over and over again to play for years, but at this point I'm so sick of their prologues + have already seen nearly all their cgs/been majorly spoiled by now OTL I always give them another shot though when someone new in my life is another major Shiraishi or Hakuouki fan T~T

I do have many games that I'd love to go back to and haven't simply becasue I've forgotten about the parts I've played, but don't want to replay them either. Psychedelica of the BB, Hatoful Boyfriend, Period Cube, Norn9, Brother's Conflict, the list goes onnnn

Same here — I've been putting off playing both of those games for the longest time. Variable Barricade and Code: Realize.
But maybe someday, when I can really settle down and focus, I'll pick them up again. Since I've already started them, I feel a bit of that "need to finish" pressure — I'm kind of OCD like that. If I drop a game, I always end up wanting to complete it eventually.

I've played about six hours of VB, but I'm just not that into its gameplay style.
As for CR, I've only played about half an hour — it didn't feel like it had much story impact at first. But it's got a lot of sequels, so I figure maybe I just haven't played enough yet. I might still discover what makes it special...

Code Realize. I tried to play 5-6 times and always droped in episode 2 when need choose go with Victor or Impey. I felt so boring and can't connect with story too. But forse myself play 6th time and loved it. Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly. I like this game and atmospher. But i always drop when need unlock and read first mini stories. I read 2-3 mini story and lose all interest to play...

I left Fuyuzono Sacrifice unfinished on my PC because the visuals seemed to have some problems, so I had to move to playing it on my phone instead
Right now, I'm continuing from where I left off, and honestly, I have quite a few other unfinished games too

Olympia Soirée
This otome game makes my ass burn with rage. Plus—personally—I find it really hard to read how absolutely obsessed everyone in it is with procreation.

Oh, that one's on my list too! I couldn't get past the prologue either, but I just concluded it wasn't my kind of plot.

Seconding Olympia Soiree! I actually played like 2 routes, and it did pick up a bit after that, but I ended up prioritizing other games, the prologue dragged a bit for me... I do plan to finish it soon, I'm too much of a completionist to leave it at that! Haha

Although I didn't give up on them, I also had a hard time with DiaLovers HDB, VariBari and Cafe Enchante at first. DiaLovers was the one that took me the longest to finish, some of the routes just didn't do it for me and I'm not too keen on the chapter selection in that game (sometimes it had many flashbacks that got repetitive). Same thing for VariBari, the short-chapter structure bored me (it's kinda ironic lol)

As for Cafe Enchante, the prologue was pretty long and took some time to win me over, but I pushed through and ended up liking it well enough!

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who couldn't get into Code: Realize. I really tried, but I kept getting distracted. The words just didn't stick with me, I was constantly reading the backlog to check what they were talking about. Comes a point when I just give up.

I dropped Piofiore halfway through because I found it a bit boring, but the art style is so gorgeous that I'll definitely pick it up again in the future.

Tengoku Struggle. I honestly found the plot kinda boring and I don't really like the MC. The concept seemed interesting to me but after starting the game, I got bored and had to struggle through the common route.

SAME! I couldn't finish Radiant Tale's prologue, I just don't know why all the good looking folk immediately looked goofy 😭

Reine des Fleurs. I really don't get along with the minigames in this game. I stop playing the game every time I play a minigame, so I can't make any progress at all. However, the art style is so beautiful that I will never give up on completing it.

I'm surprised to see ppl saying radient tale alot, but mine would probably be cafe enchantée, idk i don't stick to the story and genuinely get bored…i think it's specially because i played many lore-ish heavy otome games before buying it and playing it which make me automatically uninterested…but I'm trying to give it a chance..!
