Hi everyone! 👋

Just wanted to see who else here enjoys listening to drama CDs.

For those unfamiliar, there's actually quite a wide variety and some examples are:

Otome game 特典 (tokuten, meaning bonus) CDs – bonus CDs you get when buying from specific stores. Different shops = different CDs, which can be both fun and painful for a completionist's wallet 😅

Otome game–related drama CDs / character CDs / character song CDs – official side stories, character-focused tracks, or extensions of the main game

Set purchase tokuten CDs – bonus content for buying all volumes of CDs in a series, often sold at a steep price secondhand (e.g. NORN9 Cantare Series Animate 連動購入特典「学園ノルン -文化祭編-」was 4k+ yen for me, not counting proxy + shipping 🥲)

Event-limited CDs – exclusives sold/distributed at events (AGF) or live events (think Neoromance's live events). They are at times hard to find later even if you go through secondhand markets (I went through Surugaya + Yahoo Auctions to track down all 9 Taisho x Alice AGF2017 situation CDs…)

Non-otome 女性向け (female-targeted) drama CDs – standalone works or series not tied to particular otome games but still aimed at a female audience. Some are available digitally via DLSite, Pokedora, etc.

Blu-ray/DVD tokuten CDs – bonus tracks / OST / songs bundled with anime releases

Magazine tokuten CDs – extras included with magazine issues

Manga-based / Novel-based drama CDs – adaptations or original stories based on manga or novel series

Personally, I love drama CDs. They've definitely drained a good chunk of my wallet over time 😅

I'm curious to hear from others:
Do you listen to drama CDs too? Any favorites or types you tend to collect? 👀

First proper Drama CD I listened was prequel for Handsome Laundering, so it was recently. Interesting experience, although it's hard to understand what is going on sometimes (without visuals or text). Didn't even know there were so many types of cds...

Character songs on the other hand, is a different story. Every anime in 2000-2010 had them, for some reason, even if anime was not about songs and actual characters didn't sing. It broke character's image sometimes, but was and still is funny. I guess it's the same for otome - weird to see some characters singing, but if song is good then why not

Beannie, drama CD collector, at your service! I agree with the wallet draining, haha. For the last year, I got into "archiving" Rejet OG's series (I uploaded some already) and have a goal to post them all here ><. As for listening, I have listened to a good chunk of Dialovers franchise and recently finished Crazy Cirkus (that one was amazing, highly recommend). I also love the Hanakare series, and "After Darling" were such a chef kiss :bepraised:.

As for tokus, I like to listen to them after finishing the game to get some listening practice while commuting.

To be said, I really wish some drama CDs were more like audiobooks, since the VAs are amazing :akazukin_puppyeyes:

Do you have any favourites? What kind of CDs do you collect? Any chance of sharing with us, hahah?

We definitely very much appreciate your archiving work :')

I collect mostly 女性向け works such as those shown in the screenshot (but there must be romance between female and male characters, as opposed to the drama CD series that are just focused on male characters bonding / doing music etc.)
I've listened to a lot of CDs so there are no favourites because it'd be very hard to pick from one.

I've listened to a good number of drama CDs, mostly original otome ones, and a couple of non-otome 女性向け titles.

YOOOO!!! I enjoy DRAMA CDs!!!! because im a voice lover LOL
Usually i hear more Non-otome 女性向け (female-targeted) drama CDs and if i find out a DRAMA CD from one of my fav mangas i will also hear it!!! since the experience is different~~

yes! i love love drama cds but i only listen to otome stuff. i have insomnia and listening to drama cds helps me sleeps at night :3 haven't tried novel/manga drama cds didnt know they existed but im very interested in it!

The first drama CD I ever listened to was Rejet's *Criminale* series. I was really surprised by how immersive it was.
I love the bonus CDs that come with games—the voice actors' performances are entertaining, and their banter is a lot of fun.

I love drama cds that belong to otome games! I just can't seem to find the time to listen to other stuff lol but the tokuten cds though... Peak comedy. Silly Diabolik Lovers and Piofiore casts my beloveds. I love how random the situations get!

I like CD dramas by Rejet. Recently I was feeling nostalgic about Dear Vocalist. I especially like Momochi, because every time he manages to shock me —
stubbing out cigarette butts on the heroine, pouring champagne on her, telling her we're breaking up, and so on.
I wonder if there's even a character similar to Momochi in terms of behavior in otome games — I feel like he's one of a kind, "special" in this world.

I first listened to CDs that came with manga magazines and moved into other voice dramas of all kinds (like in @icterine's list) over the years! Either I got lucky finding them by someone else's upload / niconico or managing to get a physical copy / buying them digitally 🥰

Truly love listening to all kinds of voice works :3

I love drama CDs too! Voice actors do such an amazing job. I especially enjoy listening to BLCDs and R18 situationCDs.

I love drama CDs! 😍
I listen to all kinds, including BL, otome games, and game-related ones.
Most BL works have a source novel or manga, so if I like the CD, I sometimes buy the original work.

I love drama CDs, especially ones related to anime, otome, and games.
I listen to them every day while falling asleep — honestly, I can't live without them lol.
Lately, I've been listening to Rejet drama CDs again for the first time in a while.
I love how crazy their characters are, and their stories are always really entertaining.

I'm a huge fan of Otome and R18 drama CDs.🥰🥰

Lately, I've been revisiting Rejet's drama CDs, and honestly, they're still as amazing as the first time I found them.😌😌

Whenever I'm in a CD slump and don't know what to listen to, I always find myself going back to Rejet.🫶

Resident DramaCD enjoyer here. (˵ ¬ᴗ¬˵)

I just love voices or voice-oriented content, honestly. Not a huge fan of ASMR as is (it has to be JUST the voice, no niche things like paper crumpling, etc etc), so Japanese dramaCDs are probably my favorite. For me, I think I adore authenticity in a voice the most and you can always hear it. I love both All Ages and R18 CDs so I don't really discriminate between the two. (Sorta with there were more AA CDs posted here LOL) ( · ❛ ֊ ❛)

I also like to support my favorite VA(s? Maybe? Potentially? I take my time with new creators...), so I do buy on DLsite if I can.ひらめ一条 is my favorite of all time. ( ˶˘ ³˘)♡
Honestly, a lot of the time, I just find it to be such a heart-wearming medium. Voice acting by itself is inherently more difficult as it requires the actor to convey the full range of emotion by only using their voice, so I also look up to everyone who does it skillfully. And, well, I'm a singer of over ten years myself at this point, so the fascination isn't entirely devoid of professional curiosity either. (⸝⸝ᵕᴗᵕ⸝⸝)

I enjoy listening to drama CDs based on otome games. Even after I've beaten the game, there are times when I want to hear a little more about the characters' stories. I love how it feels like the story is continuing, since I get to hear situations and conversations that weren't shown in the main game. Hearing my favorite character's voice again makes me happy, and it seems to keep my affection for the series alive for longer.

I agree! The Japanese voice acting industry is so amazing! You can really tell the amount of effort and work they put into the craft. I'm not particularly big on the "ASMR" aspects of it either (actually a lot of the licking scenes in R18 often bother me and I have to fast forward... LOL. ((which btw, if anyone has recommendations on specific circles or producers that *aren't* heavy on the ear licking stuff, let me knowXD)) Like hey, I'm more into it for for the vocal part of it and the breathing/moans/etc heh)

hirame is really good! Recently I have gotten more into Cherry because I was impressed with some of their acting bits in a CD I listened to.. I also love Ash because I *love* dialect. But other than acting, it's really interesting to tell how much tone control the actors have over their voices sometimes! It's interesting to listen to the cast talks too because they usually use their regular speaking voices and so it makes it really clear how much effort they're putting into their roles~ Or like with Emperor, I know some people who say he sounds the same in most roles *but* I've also listened closely and it's really clear how well articulated he is in controlling his tone and making his pronunciations super crisp and clear.
