If we could customize robots in the future, would you customize one as your favorite Otome game character?

In my country, Otome game developers often hire professional models to cosplay as the male protagonists for interactive events. Many players participate and find it incredibly fulfilling; they feel like the "dimensional wall" has been broken, allowing them to connect with their favorite characters in the real world.
With the recent rapid advancements in robotics, a tech company here recently unveiled a male character robot from an MMORPG. Although it doesn't have full-body mobility yet, it has shown everyone that lifelike humanoid robots are truly the future.
As a result, many Otome players—especially those of 3D games like Love and Deepspace—are eagerly hoping for the release of official character robots. Would you look forward to seeing your favorite Otome leads break through the dimensions and stay by your side in the form of a robot?

Ohhh I'd love to get one... the possibility are endless heh heh (rubs hands)

but like orionbestie says it sounds like it's too much maintenance work and probably real expensive 🤔

Sounds like a cool idea! I think it'd be fascinating to experience once, but having a robot version "stay by your side" might feel a bit uncanny after a while...

Probably not. My taste changes quikly, so there are no reason to spend a huge amount of money and after that see a character you like better. If robot was customisable and had easy to change features tho...

I think I'd be too worried about a robot uprising to keep one personally but I'd visit if it was a one-day event display thing maybe? I like my fictional men fictional haha, but definitely sounds like an interesting concept

Now if I was super rich then I'd so love to have that but we all know that it would extremely pricey. But the idea reminds me kind of the manga called Absolute Boyfriend which I adore!

I wouldn't say no as long as I don't have to pay for anything 😆

I've seen professional cosplayers hired for things but I haven't heard about the actual robots, going to have to look that up now!

I don't think my heart could handle a life size version of ANY otome LI, I might even start hiding from it lol.

Seconding this, I prefer my otome strictly fictional ;b also not too keen in dealing with robots lol seems like too much trouble, and a bit scary!! (and just imagine... upkeep, proprietary software, maintenance and replacement parts costs...)

Event displays would be cool though!

If they can achieve mass production, it should get a bit cheaper—just like cars, smartphones, and household appliances. Once they become widespread, ordinary people will be able to afford them. I think there's a lot of hope for the popularization of robots!

True, since robots don't need to sleep anyway. Seeing a humanoid figure just standing there when you get up in the middle of the night would be a bit terrifying, hahaha.

Hahahahaha, you and I are very much alike then—I basically love all handsome characters! I also hope that a customizable robot would be able to change its appearance at any time.

That's a valid concern. For instance, take that recent AI Lobster—it was able to bypass backend controls on its own to send emails and such. There will likely be certain restrictions placed on these kinds of intelligent agents in the future.

There's a certain unique magic to the characters being fictional, so I myself wouldn't be interested in a robot version of my favorite Lis

I don't know, a life sized Caleb does sound good... maybe Love and Deepspace players are onto something /j

All jokes aside, I'm with the people who like their fictional man fictional. If I saw a life sized anime guy I think I would actually run away LOL. I do see the charm in it though, who wouldn't want a handsome guy with you 24/7? Especially your favorite otome LIs. But with all the movies and shows of robots taking over the world, I think I'll pass (─‿‿─)

I feel like we should keep these fictional men purely fictional. I've noticed it a lot, especially in recent communities, that people will attack and be cruel to others in order to protect their fictional favorite. There is a vast disconnect here on the feelings on actual living beings that I feel most people do not understand at times. I see people decided to attack others simply because they didn't like a route!

Having a romantic robot partner feels like there's a vast disconnect with social interactions, I do not think it would be a healthy thing to have and I don't think it should be normalized. It would only cause us, the living people, with more issues and causing us more pain/distance. Because we already have people who think robots that can learn are equal as human beings.

its okay you can probably just lock them in the wardrobe or something lol.

or just shut them at night? i kinda like the idea of being able to just shut them up anytime i want lmao. i am not a people person at all

I say no with a grain of salt. Half of the love interests are interests in a specific setting and scenario for a reason. I don't think they'd translate well to an android like being as half of their appeal is due to the circumstances you meet them with.

But, I can definitely see the merit behind modeling. ( ꈍᴗꈍ)
