Did you have high expectations for a game that disappointed you when you saw it, and you decided not to finish it?

I always have a habit of collecting the CGs no matter how difficult, bad, or boring the route is, but there was only one specific case where I couldn't even complete the first route because I had high expectations for it due to its good premise, characters, and plot. It was Black Wolves Saga -Bloody Nightmare-,

Cupid Parasite :D its good, the common route is really fun but once I entered the Li route, it became a bit boring. The ending was kind of convenient too because the MC, Lynette whom I adore so much in the common route, just ended up doing whatever the Li was doing: Ohhhhh your love is a star actor??? Then become an actor too!!
╮(╯ ∀ ╰)╭ I will definitely come back and try to finish it cause the art is just too good though :Dddd

Over Requiemz. I expected good yandere and dark romance. Instead got a grown man behaving like a teenager, middle school level of degrading and what japanese call "chuunibyou" (it's when you call yourself the dark lord and dress in black, for example) included. T_T

Didn't finish his route, but I will come back and try other people someday

The art style of VARIABLE BARRICADE is nice, but the story just doesn't really hook me. I've tried getting into it four or five times now, and I sti ll haven't managed to finish it.:akazukin_dead:

for me it's code:realize 💔

i think the game's art is very beautiful, the mc is very unique but nothing else attracted me after that and i didn't connect with any of the lis...

Yes, it happened sometimes but sometimes i got forced to come back to it because otome fans speak so highly of the game so i be like " maybe i judged it so early and need to give it another chance"

I've tried getting into Dairoku: Agents of Sakuratani a few times because I love the artist, but the writing is just so flat. I couldn't even finish a single route.

Variable barricade, i read a review praising Hibari, but i ended up disliking her. I did finish the game though because of the beautiful art.

I never really drop games (unless it's gacha or live service), but I had a hard time getting through some titles at times. VariBari took me way longer to complete than it should have, I thought the common route was kinda boring. I also tried to get into JackJeanne twice now and ended up switching to another game lol (I will get there eventually)

I remember how Tokyo Debunker was supposed to look like before it became all of THAT... I will forever mourn on the game it could have been.

There is sympathy kiss (eyeless mc) and battlefield waltz (how the battle pose character kinda same 😆) but rather than that I am enjoy the story.also for radiant tale mc personality development on ion kinda messed me up 😞.she supposed to be stand up and protect him not just saying I am useless, can't do anything,I want to live, I don't want to die and yadayadayada.from my perspective I think the real mc is villio since he on every character route contribute lot of development and helping them even.for cafe enchante I thought the mc kinda have similar personality to radiant tale but is 60/70% different.especially at Ignis route

Cafe enchante....I'm trying to crawl back into it but I am *so* not interested in it.

The character designs looked great when I saw the announcement years ago and was so excited to play it to have all the energy sucked out of me during the common route.

Basically Mistonia... But I still didn't give up and want to finish it yet... One day for sure...

I rarely drop games but I lost interest in The Red Bell's Lament, which is a shame because I was really looking forward to it. To me, it felt like the plot was all over the place and wasn't executed well. I also felt like there wasn't much growth to the MC as the game went on. I was really excited and had high hopes for this game because the premise seemed interesting, another vampire otome game yay, and great success from even IF TEMPEST. I will probably go back to finish it one day because I feel like I'm near the end and I can finally go after the character I was most interested in, but for now I don't have any motivation to do that yet lol xD

Piofiore: Fated Memories,I fell in love with its art style at first sight, but I just can't get myself interested in the story.
This is it for me, too. The art was so pretty, and the plot sounded so interesting, but I just found it to be boring? I only played 3 routes, but for the most part I felt like you were just sitting around in routes.

Honestly I was incredibly let down by paradigm paradox. The story premise was interesting, boys turning into magical girls?! Sign me up. But the writing was abysmal, there were too many characters with lackluster stories and no romantic spark, routes were short and stupid, sad moments were grazed over too quickly and everyone just seemed like they didn't want to be there. A complete let down of a game despite the pretty artwork and music.

I realised that I've never actually completely dropped an otome—not counting all those live-service ones—only skipped through the routes that genuinely bothered or bored me. I'm in the same boat as you, OP, with collecting all CGs and endings even if I don't care for a route.

There are so many otome I rated 5 or less on VNDB, but at least I got to commiserate with friends who played the same games and had similar negative experiences.
