What's a game that everyone seems to love but you hate?

I guess Piofiore? I only liked Orlok as a love interest, and while Yang was interesting, I didn't like the direction they took with his character in 1926.

Cheritz games. Because of their online protection, they were among some of the first games I bought with my own money.
I can't describe my disappointment with their writing. If I have to summarize my opinion, they're good at writing light-hearted moments, but when it comes to handling serious issues it feels ridiculous.
Mystic Messenger is the biggest offender. Once it began delving into religion and illness, the story fell apart because I had to wonder why characters acted the way they did or why certain things were possible in the game's world.

Hate is a strong word, more like I don't think their stories match all the praise.

Taisho x Alice... ;w;
I don't hate it that much but the localization makes it difficult to get through lol
Do you mean the official translation by Primula? It's bad?

They actually had an older "localization" from a different company, and that one was HORRENDOUS lmao. I played a bit of the game in Japanese so I don't know if their current localization is good or not

cheritz fell off hard. not only they use and support ai generations (that infamous 707 generation incident a couple of years ago, plus many suspect their birthday artworks are actually ai as well), they apparently try hard to bait fujoshi into playing their games? the ssum has a ton of bxb "jokes", and you as heroine cant even reject them or get mad at them. obviously the playerbase is pissed too lol

Oh I've heard of that too. iirc they denied it at first but then after 'investigation' they said the artist admitted using AI.
To be honest their art during MysMe's peak days were already bad compared to Dandelion/Nameless. People were just more forgiving because the game was basically free and the phone screen wasn't big enough to scrutinize the art.

I dropped The ssum after a few days because I couldn't endure the "ads in your face everytime you swipe to a different screen", the bad translation, and the typing speed... instead of being enjoyable the entire game felt like it was designed to waste your time. So I'm not aware of the BL jokes. It felt like a poor copy of MysMe. Their BL jokes already existed in MysMe anyway, I was tired of seeing Jumin gay comments in the fandom 10000 times. Like it was supposed to be an otome game, hello? But the devs themselves started that joke. If it's worse in the Ssum then I'm glad I dropped it.

People say their failure needs to be studied, but I don't think it's that deep. Their greed just got the better of them and they wanted to recreate their one hit wonder with no plans ahead. Looks like people are still playing and paying for stuff in The Ssum though. So Cheritz keep can themselves afloat. No wonder companies chase after the mobile market so much, I swear many people just pay for in-app purchases like money grow on trees.

Personally I don't think it's that bad, just very "of its time". It's like being blasted back to around 2015, which I think is kinda charming, but I could only handle it in small doses. (• ▽ •;)
(and yes it's the official translation the switch port uses)

not really hate but i have a hard time liking virche evermore and illusion itehari altho i looked forward to those to

Omg, same. That game is awful, all over the place, mc boring, and the love interests are mostly red flags and not even interesting ones hahaha
I agree with you, I never found that game appealing. The protagonist had no personality other than to be the naive one 🙄😒 and sometimes I felt embarrassed for what she did or how she acted (0% self-respect), and the routes had a lot of red flags or nonsensical story.

I can't really hate a game, i can hate a character but a game that would be so rare for me , if i a day would come where i hate a game it would be for their storyline, but for now all games i played had good story

i saw everyone talking about how seiya's route was the best in 9rip but it was so boring and the pacing was awful i dropped the whole game. i wouldn't say i hate it but i'm also not a big fan of the older otomes that are basically just click guy you like for little event/scenes with him and no overall story(diabolik lovers, brothers conflict)

Hakuouki.

Played through multiple routes and just...not my vibe at all. I have *no* good feelings regarding any of my playthroughs.

It felt drawn out in a berating way and if I'm playing a game, I want to enjoy it rather than feel dread. ಠ﹏ಠ

Piofore... I think ... No matter what I do I just can't focus on it :akazukin_cant:

didn't really feel particularly fond of piofiore, varibari, and olympia soiree. the story for these three are quite taxing to get through, not so hot on the love interests either and i was reaaallly hoping i would at least enjoy them.

I am adding to the list of people who were disappointed by Diabolik Lovers ahaha. I didn't expect to find so many like-minded people in this thread considering how much people love the game. I actually liked the anime.
You enjoyed the anime but not the game? Why? Does it have something to do with the extent of how far they go with things in the visual novel?

It's been a long time since I watched the anime and only a few months since I tried out the visual novel so there might be some bias, but I thought the anime was a sort of funny "so bad it's good" anime where this girl just gets treated badly and I didn't try to view it as any sort of romantic story at the time. After years of hearing people hype up Diabolik Lovers as this dark and edgy otome game, I just thought it was boring and I didn't like the format of bite-sized scenes the vn has. Makes me wonder if I'd enjoy it more as a drama CD than a visual novel.

Code Realize, I'm sorry, I tried. I just couldn't get into the plot and characters at all. But the MC is very pretty, I will give it that! <3

Olympia Soiree seems to be a polarizing title that more people seem to love than hate, but I def fall in the hater camp. I had to push myself to finish bc everyone I knew said Akaza was worth it (spoiler alert: nope). At least I know I won't touch Tengoku Struggle unless I was compensated for the time I'd be wasting on it

Another title I didn't get the hype for was Taisho x Alice. It wasn't bad but I didn't think it was good either. In the epilogue I think, when it was revealed that the Yurika we're playing as is actually one of Alice's personalities, doesn't that mean we're technically playing as a man? lol. I don't think I'm wording it right, but like, a woman "written" by a man written by a woman. It made me curious in what ways Yurika is different from the real one. Like is she crazy bc that's just Alice's perception of Yurika or is that just how she is irl? But I don't think I'd play the FD to find out, if they even show/address it

Not into the whole saintly female lead who sacrifices everything for the male characters. I like heroines who have their own backbone and their own personality

Code realize I heard a lot of good things about it; but for some reason the story just never clicked with me. (>﹏<)

Diabolik loversnot bothered to play the sequel bcs I was not satisfied with the 1st game, also Clock zero I lost my enthusiasm bcs I always got a bad end even though I followed the walkthrough so idk if i want to go back to playing it again

『Shuuen no Virche』 I don't get why it's so popular. In my eyes, it's just deliberately torturing the characters to wring tears out of the players.

Ozmafia - I saw many good comments and titles like "the best game ever" but... I was very disappointed to say the least. I didn't like the plot, didn't like the MC, didn't like art style etc etc etc...
Piofiore - the same case. Many amazing reviews, but a weak plot and strange character development. I love you Dante, but I had to delete your game
