What’s your most unexpected favorite LI?

Kinji from Winter's Wish: Spirits of Edo was one for me. Upon first looking at the art, Kinji was least attractive to me, and then learning what his personality was like, he was second from the bottom in terms of how much I wanted to play his route. When I got to his route though I was surprised by how much I enjoyed him (and the game in general, I didn't have high hopes!)

yeah, I feel that. for me it's usually like I get interested in whoever looks the best at first, and then I end up completely switching to the one with the more interesting backstory

Yeah, there's that thing where you don't even want to play the route, but you find gold 😆
Noritsune from Birushana. I didn't expect anything from him, but damn, he was so impressive and I started to despise Shungen after this
Kuroyuki from Nightshade. I was in awe of his insanity and how unhinged he was. Best boi
And I agree about Linus; I expected nothing, but got a diamond

Zen from MysMe and Okita from Hakuoki were the ones who most caught me off guard and made me like them, since I had a terrible impression of Zen as a shallow narcissist before entering his route, and Okita always drove me crazy on the common route XD I love them both a lot nowadays
 
Morii from Over Requiemz.. really thought I was just gonna skim through his route, but dayuumm boi got some interesting storyline both in the fact and dark route ///w///
 
Tyril from Even if Tempest. He gave Sasuke vibes at first, but his route was the best written one in terms of pacing and characters feelings
 
Colar x Malice Enomoto. I don't like genki guys. But i loved his route. His and Sasazuka. I thought my fav will be Shiraishi but felt indiferent :(
 
I'm Ikki from AMNESIA. My first impression was absolutely terrible, lol.
Even though I was complaining the whole time I was playing, I gradually grew to love it, and I still can't forget it.
 
yukimaro from 9rip! i remember wanting to do his route as one of my firsts to get it done with since he didn't feel like my type of character, but the spirit common route endeared me so much to him that it kinda awakened my love for more comedic characters. special mentions to kuroba from olympia soiree too, i feel like i see people drag him and his route but i preferred him over tokisada and himuka easily
 
Conrad from EIT. I wasn't ready for his extra scene. Even though he's not technically a LI my red flag radar was screaming at me and I was smitten 😩

Oh yeah, I was totally expecting to not like him, but when he came out about his dad and stuff I instantly folded and he swiftly became my second favourite. He's just so chaotic.
 
I played blind and got Koharu's route first(rip9) and i got really bored in the middle of it because i wasn't interested in him so Iiswitched to another route But when I came back to his route again and it was really good!
 
My most unexpected favorite love interest was Harumi Makino from Lover Pretend. I was just going into his story thinking I wasn't gonna be as interested in him but I ended up really liking him!
 
Koyo from 9 RIP! Wasn't expecting to love his route this much! He was actually one of the characters that interested me the least, but oh what a surprise! He ended up being my favorite of the game 😚

sorry, late reply but this would be my pick as well. There was so much learn about him, it just really changed the way I saw the character
 
Tobari from Illusion of Itehari! I didn't notice him at first then I fell for him so bad 😭 He easily became one of my faves. Not a favorite but Sasazuka too surprised me. I was really annoyed at him till the second half of the route lol

Exactly the same for me! I adored Neji and really resonated with his character. He's honestly one of my favourite LI ever now.
 
Jiwoo from Dandelion comes to my mind, because he was the character I liked the least… until I read his route, and he ended up being my favourite lol.
 
I didn't expect to like Fujita from Chou no Doku Hana no Kusari as much as I did!
I thought he would be too uptight for my liking and more stoic in his route but it genuinely did surprise me how much I liked his route? He is in my top3 for sure from that game!
