What's a game that everyone seems to love but you hate?

I recently bought The rose of segunda and I feel bad that I completely hated it because it's an Indie Game and all and apparently there's not a single soul out there who hates it (from the reviews I've seen at least 😅). So I was wondering if you guys have had similar experiences with popular games or if I am just a hater.

Not really 'hate' but I heard really good things about Collar x Malice and my friends seem to enjoy it as well so I have pretty high expectation when starting it, only to end up being disappointed throughout the game :') None of the routes impress me and both the MC and LIs are too bland. I was hoping they'd go darker considering the theme and premise but they played it safe instead.

I don't remember the story nor the endings. That's how boring it was to me

I wouldn't say I hate it, but I really just don't have the motivation to keep playing. The game is VARIABLE BARRICADE — I've had it for three years now and still haven't finished it... Even though most of the players I know seem to love it. I don't think I'll ever pick it up again.

Like everyone else, I wouldn't say I hate it, but I never got into Piofiore. I did 3 routes, and it just never clicked with me. It was just so boring to me.

I really tried to play Virche Evermore Error Salvation! I haven't played too many games that take an angsty route/darker themes, but I wanted to see if I would like it. I've heard so many good reviews on the game itself, but for some reason, I could barely get through it... It felt long and a bit repetitive.. might be too much angst for me.. (◡﹏◡✿)

Diabolical lovers, there's a anime for this so it must be popular somewhere. I despise every single character in that game including that mc.
Yeahh.. when you try to get into the plot of Diabolical lovers.. it sort of becomes very weird. None of the characters really appealed to me, nor did the MC make anything better for the plot.. ┐('~`;)┌

For me, it would be a 9 R.I.P.The game is well-regarded despite I saw that some people were upset because the game wasn't really horror, but in my case, that wasn't what bothered me, but rather the fact that the story has an inconclusive ending for the protagonist. It starts with her having trouble figuring out what career to pursue, among other intertwined problems, and I found this a very interesting subject to address and thought the game would lean more towards self-discovery with a mix of fantasy/suspense (I really wasn't expecting much horror since otome games rarely have that category xD), but unfortunately the game leaves this problem aside and the endings don't provide a conclusion to the presented problem, which left me quite dissatisfied. I still intend to go back to finish the routes I didn't complete and I might even play Fandisk because of Koharu since I liked him a lot, but this game really disappointed me and it's not for me if there's no resolution for the protagonist.

Get called "bitch chan" by your LI is a once in a lifetime experience, it's amazing how unappealing these characters are and our MC just taking it like an insentient doormat surely doesn't help it.

I wouldn't say hate, but I don't get the hype of Bustafellows.
I didn't find the plot that engaging so it was a drag for me to get through, and the romance was also quite underwhelming.

even if TEMPEST.
Not much of a romantic feel, the Werewolf plot isn't written very well either, and some of the CGs are drawn poorly.

for me, it's sweet pool and dmmd. i was so disappointed when i finally got to play them both. even with 18+ patch I tried to like it but it was disappointing

Too many. Hakuouki, Clock Zero, Code Realize, even if TEMPEST. And please NO Hatoful boyfriend.

I feel like I'm going to get stoned, but JACK JEANNE. Don't get me wrong! I loved the characters, I loved the music (which is what I find particularly the most positive part), the game is full of good voice actors, but the story... I played all the routes and I couldn't like it the way I should have, so the term wouldn't be hate, but I really didn't like it. The game seems more like a story about friendship and dreams than a real romance; more than half of the game is basically a common route.

JJ is more a theater simulation in their official promotional statement. However it gets famous as a cross over between otome and shounen.

So many that I've unfortunately 100% completed due to sunk-cost fallacy—a few of which were mentioned already.…

Off the top of my head, I'll have to say Tengoku Struggle. Every LI except one pissed me off, and the MC being deemed "strong" while many of the MC's actions actively contradict that was painful as a self-inserter.
