Which games do you think deserve a remake?

I'm currently playing Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and honestly, I'm loving how Square Enix worked on the character development, especially Cloud. When I played the original FFVII, I thought Cloud was very bland and shallow as a protagonist. Sure, there's the incident with Shinra and all that, but I still felt something was missing for him to be likeable, and thankfully, this remake added charisma to him. He's still apathetic and distant, but there are moments when you look at him and compare him to the original and think about how much he's evolved (like that scene where he's all awkward giving Aerith a high five, or the scene where he gives a speech to the SOLDIERS when he was infiltrated with Aerith and Tifa, or even him petting chocobos!). I'm really happy to see these details! As for gameplay, I have no complaints. I loved that the materia system remains the same as the old one, and I also liked the addition of weapons where you can retain the abilities you learn by using them (it reminded me of FF IX!). When I think about it, I realize how cool it would be if other older games could receive the same treatment that FFVII received. One of the games I'd love to see remade is Parasite Eve! That's a good horror game that could rival RE (at least in my opinion!). Another one I think would be incredible to see is the Castlevania franchise, specifically the Nintendo DS ones. If they got a remake and it was something similar to Bloodstained, I would love it! And last but not least, Onimusha! Capcom needs to look at and pay more attention to this franchise; a remake would be great!

Avalon Code, I really liked its very innovative mechanics regarding its plot device (a magic book). I hate the sliding puzzles tho lmao.

I'm also waiting for Ys V to get a remake since the previous games in the series already had a remake or ported to modern devices.

I think the Mother/Earthbound series deserves a remake as well. Or at least for Mother 3 to be officially localized even though that's very unlikely.

I would say Live a Live, but it recently got a remake lol

Wow, I had totally forgotten about that Avalon Code game. The system with the book is really cool, I always used it on anything I could find on my way, lol I miss that game so much! And hey, the puzzles were fun! (I reread your comment and saw that you were referring to the ones with ice... lol, those were really annoying, I always fell off the map when there were narrow spaces or pushed the blocks wrong when I had to solve the puzzles (ノ`Д´)ノ彡┻━┻)

I was thinking of the slider puzzles that lock some book entries unless you solve it, but yeah the ice maps are annoying as well lol

I'm big Drakengard fan, so I'd love to see the three games get a proper modern remaster (to play Drakengard 3, you need either a PS3 or a PC that can emulate it!), especially since Nier Automata is so popular and Replicant got a modern remake (I'm not big on full on remakes since I take a more purist approach to games though lol I don't really like gameplay/control changes)

One of the games I'd actually like to see a remake for would be Ico! It's my favorite Ueda game, but it's stuck on PS2 and PS3 :( Rule of Rose too, since the controls are quite buggy

Aside from that, I wish the .hack franchise would be ported to newer systems!

Onimusha really deserves some love, Capcom (and Sony lmao) leaves some of their best franchises to rot in older systems

I don't get the whole game remake thing, to be honest.
Some games fall into oblivion and remain stuck on older platforms. With remakes, in addition to bringing them to current platforms, you could also see new mechanics/improvements to existing mechanics in a given game, as well as its full potential with today's gaming technology.

The Langrisser series, particularly the first two games. Technically had remakes but they're just so low effort and mobile game-like, it doesn't much matter in my opinion.

Aside from fixing bugs, I think it's pointless, if not detrimental. Many people play old games for nostalgia reasons, which includes less-than-stellar graphics, memes/classic funny moments related to imperfections within the game. Why put a new coat of paint on a classic old game when you could be developing something else entirely?

Same here. First got into Final Fantasy VII because of Cloud Strife too, and back time I didn't pay that much attention to the story. I just jumped straight into the movie —it was basically the ending of the game lol.

Then I gave it another shot because I suddenly got really interested in Rufus Shinra. I mean, who even liking a villain character who's basically a nepo baby and a heir of greedy company? But I'm really thankful to Square Enix for the remake because they really improved Rufus characterization there.
I liked him even more after seeing his backstory, because his character isn't portrayed as entirely good or evil, and it makes you wonder what he really want. Ends up he actually just antagonist character, not a villain. Hope SE release the trailer of P3 for this June. I really curious whats the next story after the Rebirth like war of wutai??? Rufus, you really gonna do that? What about Northern Cave and fight Sapphire Weapon?

Anyway, aside that, i kinda hope Capcom can remake Devil May Cry. Kinda irritated how Capcom always milking Resident Evil and DMC fans got bad Netflix adaptation 🤦(Dante and Lady kiss? What are you smoking Adi?).
Though at the same time, it also feels funny because this is probably how Kingdom Hearts fans feel toward Final Fantasy VII fans.

It wouldn't be about giving the game a new coat of paint, but rather an improvement in the characters, story, and combat so that the game stands out more and has more life. As I gave as an example, I first played the original Final Fantasy VII and at the time I found Cloud quite shallow and didn't feel a strong connection between him and the other characters in the game, but now having played the Remake and playing Rebirth, I see how much Square has improved this for the better, and Cloud seems to have more depth than the original allowed players to appreciate. The graphics, the expansion of the world, the bonds with the characters, and the side quests that bring the universe to life now make the game more complete in this remake. I personally would like to see these transformations and improvements in other old games that have room to make these improvements.

I'm completely staying away from this Netflix adaptation. That Adi Shankar is a clown. Not only did he ruin Castlevania, he also had to ruin DMC, turning the game's story into a political issue ಠ,_」ಠ I'd also like a remake of DMC, the first game to be specific. But if I had to choose between all Capcom games, I'd really want a remake of the Onimusha games.

How does it compare to the anime by Madhouse?

In my opinion, the Madhouse version is far superior to the Netflix one, both visually and in terms of plot. The characters there are closer to the original material in terms of personality, and the dark color palette is very reminiscent of that gothic and gloomy atmosphere of the first game; it even gives a nostalgic feeling XD. The only thing I have to praise about this Netflix adaptation is the animation; otherwise, I didn't like it at all.

Oh, good to know! I liked the Madhouse anime, but still found it lacking in the end - it was too episodic. Lady in this new cartoon looks like a totally different person. Supposedly she also curses a lot for some reason (like the creators wanting to appeal to edgy teens)?

I don't know if she stopped doing that in the second season since I haven't watched it (and I won't), but in the first season Lady really swore a lot XD It got pretty lame and doesn't resemble Lady from DmC 3 at all. I still can't say which character deconstruction was worse, hers or Maria's from Castlevania. But even though I hated it, it's best if you draw your own conclusions and watch it; who knows, maybe you'll end up liking it?

Honestly Valkyrie Profile 2.
Silmeria/Alicia is still one of my favorite female protagonists ever, and I'd love to see the game remade with modern graphics someday. The atmosphere and character designs already felt so beautiful back then, so imagining some scenes in current-gen quality kinda drives me insane 😭
The combat was also really unique compared to a lot of RPGs now.

Red Dead Redemption 1 ... Any dark souls, 1 / 2 for graphics... Heavy Rain, Beyond two souls, but they need a remake on the level of Demon souls, like from scratch and visibly better (check out on yt demon souls remake, it's wild)
