I wanted to ask for opinions because I don't want shell out money for a switch lite just because of my intrusive thoughts. I currently have one jailbroken switch and a normal one. But because of my friends getting a switch lite and seeing other people on xhs getting a lite for otome games I'm having second thoughts if I actually need one? This is a very random problem but do y'all think its worth it or should I just stick with my switch?

It's honestly more of a its cuter on a lite and my switch's joycons are acting up and it annoys me to bring a controller everytime i go out AHHAHA

I'm sorry this is kind of superficial but im getting jealous of my friends making their lites cute AHHAHAH

Even if it isnt a jail broken switch, a switch lite is really great. Being able to play your games on the train, bus, or on breaks is really nice.

There are constant sales on the e-shop too and so sometimes you can get games for like 30-70% off! English titles all had a 50% off sale the last few days. So $15 dollars for a otome game thats going to take you a week + to read? really good value for dollar.

i'd say it is! even though i also play on emus, i play otomeges on hours on end which is not... great for my body lol. playing on my switch in general is super convenient since you can take it anywhere! i guess if you're not planning on a jail broken switch and a physical collector, just keep in mind that the games are still pretty pricey but they have seasonal sales (if you're okay with an online copy) so it's still p worth it imo!

this is only if you're really willing to spend tho since you already have two! If possible maybe you can get your hands on a second hand one? they're usually only a little over $100, so if you really want it, it's really not a bad deal!

Not to be the debby downer but I don't think it's worth it to shell out the extra $300+ for a new device when new controllers would be cheaper! Would it be possible to deck out / bedazzle one of the Switches you already own?

The oled and original switch are quite heavy which could be a deterrent for taking it around.

But the lite is very compact.

I got a Switch Lite last month on a sale and I can confidently say, yes, it's very worth it 🙂↕️🙂↕️🙂↕️

Before, I usually play otome games and other Switch games I like through emulation on my laptop and phone... which is a hassle tbh. My phone specs isn't strong enough to run some games, so I often had to open my laptop only to play a few hrs 🫠 My laptop is bulky (its gaming laptop), so I need to find a comfortable spot to play lmao most of the time I just lost the drive to play tho so I ended up not booting my laptop and just. doomscroll instead 🧍

Getting Switch Lite feels like a Godsend bc finally I can play my Switch games with the proper system 🥹 All of them runs perfectly and it's lightweight! I can carry them around, and I can play during travels.

So if u ask, yes, it's very worth it to get Switch Lite in my opinion xD

They sell some really cute cases for the Switch Lite, don't they?
But if you're still on the fence, maybe you shouldn't buy one just yet.
You already have two of them, after all.
Even if your friend's model seems novel now, it might lose its appeal after a while, and you might find yourself wanting something else.
The price of the Switch Lite isn't likely to spike suddenly, so why not take a little more time to think it over?

Although emulation is very comfortable (sometimes), I have a Switch and I'm not the only one who uses a PC at home, so being able to play on the TV or lying on the couch is very comfortable. This also led me to buy a Vita; most of its games aren't well emulated, so instead of struggling with configuration, having the console is the best solution. I highly recommend a Switch.

Do you think it's better to put that money into just getting the Switch 2 asap or should I wait for the price to hopefully go down next year? It's a little hard to make shopping decisions since I'm from a third world country </3

Ooh! I also want to consider getting a vita since I used to borrow my ex's vita to play games before HAHAHA I already have 2 Switch(es) so I dunno if it's worth it for me to get a lite </3

I edited my post because I had written too many uncertain points.

In the U.S., the prices of the Switch Lite and OLED went up last year. With unusually high RAM prices and the global situation, it's hard to predict how prices will change… It feels like the Switch 2 might also get more expensive.

If it were me, I'd wait and see while saving money for a Switch 2. There will probably be more games made specifically for it as well.
If it's your first Switch, I'd recommend buying one—but if it's your third, I think you should think it over carefully.
Of course, if you plan to take it out and play a lot, you'll probably be happy with your purchase.
It would be great if you could find a good deal, like a sale or a used one.

It's compact and relatively easy to use so I'd say yeah! But probably only if you're planning to play multiple games on it bc it's expensive ❤️

Ignore the FOMO, I'd say it's better to be PC only for these games but that's just my opinion as a working adult who has limited time for gaming nowadays. The expense doesn't feel justifiable especially when I already have a normal switch and I don't plan on getting the switch 2.

I agree. Also if you have a good laptop or pc you can just emulate it.

I feel like switch lite is the perfect console for otome games tbh .. great size

So I play a ton of switch games but I own a steam deck, it's a lot bigger than the switch lite so bringing it with you outside is quite the work but the best thing about it is I can play tons of games outside Steam with emulators and such, so it gives me more freedom than my own switch (I have one). If you want portability go for the switch lite but if it's in your price range and available where you live (the deck has been sold out in some places), I'd buy the deck, you can make it cute just like the switch lite

I wouldn't say easy since you need to know a bit of solding (if your switch is patched) and I've seen a lot of jailbreaks gone wrong specially on switches, the best case scenario is paying a professional if you don't want to risk ruining yours.

In case your switch is unpatched there's a method using a mig switch cartridge but it's more expensive than paying someone to do the method I mentioned above. If you want to pay someone to do it please find a reliable professional, where I live there's a couple of guys that are known for doing bad jailbreaks!
