Do you ever feel Otome fatigue or burnout?

Yep indeed it does happen to me a lot so i mostly switch anime/video games until i feel the urge to go back ° tho recently the burnout start after i finish 1 game , like i play one game and then have a 1 month break until i can play the second one in my backlog (unfortunately T.T)

Omgggg yes!! There was a time when I couldn't manage myself properly and ended up with a whole year of burnout. It was actually after I finished Café Enchanté even though I loved it, I felt completely exhausted and couldn't touch another otome game for a long time 💀

Oh god yes, I feel you OP. I've been playing a lot of BL to fill the hole for the last while and haven't been able to get to any otome games even though I really want to (╥_╥) at least the yaoi is good, and once I get out of my slump I will have a whole new log of games to look into!

i dont think so.. hmm
unlike bishoujoge or general games/vns aimed at male audience, otome is an extremely underrepresented genre, so i hold every game dear to my heart. its very easy to switch from an otome game/vn to a game/vn of any other genre, but the other way around might be somewhat complicated, so that circumstance kinda overwrites the "otome fatigue" i wouldve had. does that make sense.....?

i guess, to put it bluntly, otome is my comfort genre, so i cant imagine getting tired of it. sure, some games might be underwhelming, but i believe its case by case.. for me at least ww

Absolutely yes. Otome involves a lot of reading, it gets worse if there are tropes or cliché that appears across different games. At some point the novelty wears off and I find myself needing a break. Not every game that is released will be my taste, it's a good thing anyway I can wait for something that really interests me.

I'm not one to quit an otome halfway through, and I'm a completionist to boot. Must 100% each one that I start. So if I get on a route that feels like a slog, other games start looking much more appealing by comparison. Sometimes for months at a time.

A friend of mine made a new year's resolution to read at least one a month to get through the backlog, and I was on board the instant she mentioned it. So far I've done four in 2026. May the slog never strike. (That said, cramming all of Hana Awase in a month was a mistake lol)

It used to happen kinda often... I'd finish multiple games back to back in a short amount of time then take really long breaks. (• ▽ •;)
I figured that overindulging like that would dull my otome enjoyment so lately I've been taking my time to savour em more!

ABSOLUTELY!! i feel it a bit now,, i think it really does depend on the games you play and what's happening in life :,).. i especially think its affecting me because of how tired i am .. and i've only been trying to play the heavy games which makes it worse..

Yes. I played so many japanese otomes and recently lost interest. Last favorite was 9 r.i.p But became obsessed with western otomes :3 I found everything I wanted and couldn't find in Japanese ones. The only headache for me is grey bald aliens MC. But I got used a bit.

Of course! After I finish a game, I always fall into this empty feeling, and then I lose the motivation to play any games for a while

For me, it's a little harder to happen. Usually, when I choose an Otome game to finish the next one, I pick a genre opposite to what I was playing before. For example, if the theme is school, I'll probably pick one with a more historical vibe. I have a habit of reading a lot; reading calms me down, and I even feel very uncomfortable if I go too long without reading. If I could give one piece of advice, at least one that works for me, it's to take breaks between games so you can absorb the story of the games, so what you're feeling doesn't carry over to the next one.

Yes, I regularly feel fatigue from playing otome games. When I do, I usually try to read a book or watch a movie

Not really. I pace myself to make sure I don't get fatigued. I love the genre, so I want to make sure I can keep consuming it consistently.

I get so tired after finishing a character that I play the next one the following day.

For sure, if the game isn't engaging or interesting enough. I usually step away for a bit then and pick it up a few days after if I still feel like playing it.
