Yes, this is how I feel! I want choices that matter and can have long-lasting effects on the plot (which might be why I loved Fable when I was younger). I don't mind if some of the choices don't matter, that's fine, but I don't like the situation where every time you select a choice, if it's the 'wrong' choice, the game corrects you in some way and goes on as if you selected the 'right' choice. Honestly it brings to mind the newer Pokemon games, where you get two choices, and it's the exact same outcome anyway. Why give the choice? (aside from putting you on track for a bad end, I guess).I love when I get to explore routes and make choices that actually matter and affect the plot. When I do my first playthrough, it becomes a route that I chose, without any guides or tutorials, and that makes the experience feel much more interesting and personal.
When there are choices that don't affect the plot at all, it's pretty disappointing and makes me go like just don't put any choices atp
