Compulsively downloading BL Games?

Does anyone else here get really nervous at the thought of everything online suddenly bursting into flame? I personally download all the BLVNs I need and don't trust the idea of them remaining online forever, so I don't delete those games off my PC and keep them just in case someone might need it someday. I think it comes from the sheer amount of stuff online thats been getting lost lately with communities scrambling to recreate their old hubs, and incredibly old BL works not being given much grace or thought for preservation. (Embarrassingly one of my favorite bl OVAs is. Boku no Sexual Harassment which has a silly name and old reputation for being silly, and its not exactly widely distributed online anymore.) What do you do with a game after you're done with it? Do you keep it around and back it up somehow, or do you delete it and move on to the next one?

I am the same. I have saved an entire library of BL vns in case there is a purge, and I could help someone in the future to find that certain obscure BL vn that they are wholeheartedly searching for.

I feel the same way. Not being able to save games locally makes me a little anxious, especially after my cloud storage files were blocked a few times. That's why I'm more used to downloading games locally; even if I don't play them right away, I don't have to worry about my cloud storage failing. After finishing a game, I'm also reluctant to delete it from my computer, even when my memory is running low.

Yes!! I feel like I need to start moving them to my external hd though, so I can keep space open for other games on my PC. Also, sometimes I get really melancholic when I finish a game and it's time to uninstall it T_T It just makes it feel so.. final.

I'm a bit of a data hoarder myself! I'll download a bunch of games (BL and otherwise) and cram them in external drives for backup. I have a bunch of drives full of games that I tell myself is for archiving

Omg yeah the final step with deletion is so heart-wrenching... I often find myself unable to commit "just in case I need my completed save file again someday" but I really just let these games clog up my drives LOL. Making the jump from mostly buying physical to digital was seriously nerve-wracking since it feels like all the money I've spent can go up in smoke, and having the nintendo eshop shut down was sort of a final confirmation to me back in the day that my fears were not unfounded LOL.

my feelings exactly... im a little too excited over sharing things with my friends and i want to be THE piracy guy who will bukkake them with a flood of files they didnt think to ask for... but no one needs an obscure game from years ago yet????

I hoard Japanese media beyond common sense haha. I am not even a year on AS, but I have seen links going down without the OG uploaders there to reup. If it was not for us, the hoarders, same games would be lost.

I began to download almost everything from the joseimuke section, nearing 5tb of data. And I encourage the others to do the same. Reuploaders are almost as important as original uploaders. So yeah, keep going

Same here! But for me it's more about being too emotional to delete vns after finishing them, 'cause sometimes I like to go through all of the beautiful cgs that I unlocked after hours of reading ╥﹏╥

I also have many BL games backed up and BL anime + shonen anime that can also be shipped with BL couples (uff Trigun,Blue Lock,Jujutsu Kaisen,Etc xD) I usually burn them to Blu-ray and back up the content to another disc, a mirror of the first. Uhm, BL manga, BL drama CDs, BL light novels, and BL doujinshi—I have too many to watch my whole life without any problems. Especially since I know there are many religious and easily offended people who delete them, but I feel like a savior from the yaoi hellhole now. Damn, I hope there are other people who will help like me.

I used to have about 9tb of exclusively 18+ games (it had a whole BL section) but then I realized that like. If I play a game one time, I cannot will myself to do so again. Through that, I was gradually able to let go of my paranoia.

It was a very terrifying and slow process. A lot of them were games I didn't even want to play, I just wanted to have them, which is why they needed to go. Still have all my BL though none of that got removed LOL-

I don't have a BL equivalent of the Library of Alexandria on any hard drive (yet) but yes, nothing BL-adjacent ever ends up in the bin. The thought of losing something forever haunts me and I still have plenty of free space overall, so I simply refuse to part ways with my VNs. I don't believe that anything will be up online forever, so having backup gives me peace of mind.

I've been burned a few too many times thinking something will be online forever so I don't download it until I need it only to find it gone. So now if I have the mildest interest in something, I'll download it just to be safe. And if I don't ever get to it that's fine, I'm willing to spare the hard drive space. And sometimes I can pull something out that someone else is looking for. That's always a good feeling :)

I have a collection hobby. After downloading and playing games, I will back up my favorite games and store them in the cloud and on my external hard drive. Besides games, I also collect various comics, pictures, novels, and CDs.

Me too. I've saved 310GB of BL games, but I still feel it's not enough, even though I could never play all of them in my lifetime(´-﹏-`；)

God Y E S! I had to buy a new SSD because I was so anxious that if i don't have all of the games downloaded then when I finally want/have time to play them I won't be able to get them online!

I download a lot of different BL as I've already encountered a couple of times that I can't find what I'm looking for online. I even have a disc where I put everything, and when the time comes, I play it, or I just store it.

Glad I'm not the only one!!! That worry of things getting deleted on top and had to start moving the games over to a terabyte storage. It's enabling my inner data hoarder. Will I ever find the time to really sit down and play the huge backlog though?? Even the ones that seem interesting are half played and I feel bad about deleting the ones that didn't hold too much interest too.

Same here, but at least the BL community is more willing to share its content than the otome community, which tends to be more reluctant to upload its content. That's why there are more sites for sharing BL/yaoi.

I'm the same. I save the games, VNs, etc. that I like, and I've even saved some I haven't played yet because I haven't had the time. I guess it's because I'm an older fan, and I've seen a lot of sites and file-sharing pages disappear for different reasons. So I've become a little paranoid about it, lol. I'm glad to know there are more people like me, because it's really sad when a game or VN gets lost forever.
