Is Variable barricade worth playing?

Hi; I just picked this up and have gotten through Nayuta Yagami his good ending was certainly off turning to say the least. I was wondering if the other routes were any different from him or if I just just drop the game; thanks for any info you can share!!

would you mind telling me what specifically you found off-putting about nayuta's ending so that i can tell if the rest of the guys have something similar too?

in general though i would say all the other guys are all quite different from each other and in the case of ichiya and taiga their routes are also a bit on the heavier side. the overall theme of them not being very ideal / flawed partners is consistent though and does end up being the main climaxes of each of their routes.

i personally really really adore the game (and ichiya) so i would say try to go for another guy and see if you like it - but i do know it's a very hit or miss game so if you dont enjoy it so far you might not like the others too :(

I'd say it's worth it. Shion and Nayuta's routes are the weakest in the game. Taiga's route is really good, and I enjoyed Ichiya's as well!

oh then you should definitely try out the other guys !! nayuta's is the most non serious one in the game so i can understand if it all felt a bit too silly for you. the other guy's have a lot more emotionally serious things going on but the game does have tendency to never take itself too seriously - it doesn't end up souring the feelings or build-up for the other lis though.

I see such conflicting opinions on this game! I bought it years ago on sale because the art looked nice but I haven't gotten to playing it yet. It does make me curious though because opinions I see on it always seem to be very divided ^^;

To be honest, I think the male leads in this game are pretty problematic. For an MC who is as talented, beautiful, and wealthy as she is, it's totally fair that she didn't like them at first. Frankly, even after finishing the game, I still don't feel like any of them are worthy of her. The only one I found to be a great match for her was Kasuga, but since he isn't a love interest and the true ending completely shattered my expectations, I left with a pretty bad impression of the game.

That said, if you don't share my feelings for Kasuga, it's okay to just keep playing. I'd say Yagami's route is the most lighthearted, Ichiya's is quite heavy, and as for Shion - he's a 100% red flag (I can't stand him). Taiga is probably the most decent one?

i personally enjoyed the game very much and it became one of my faves!! it felt very light and comedic, so if you want something for laughs, i highly recommend finishing varibari

its also the funniest otome game i've played for far!
