I'm looking for people to talk about the LuckyDog1 series (r18 bl)

aaah omg sorry i thought you were more advanced in bad egg! yeah you still have quite some way to go. Feel free to update me whenever youre progressing into the story, so we could talk about the different endings and interactions!
Ha good to know that I have lots more to look forward to! Such a long game XD. And yes im looking forward to reading more on the weekend so hopefully soon ill have some endings under my belt to chat about!

the new gian sprite looks too much like a different person to me, he also doesnt look like the gian in the cgs i think
I thought Gian was pretty in the og game ! he didnt seem to look too young compared to his canon age, like maybe a few years younger but not that much imo. I was happy everyone in the game was 22-31 because its my own age range haha. The new cgs are indeed gorgeous and bad egg Gian looks indeed beautiful and 25 for sure. What bothers me tho is that in some of the bad egg cgs he has a very muscular body with 6 packs but he is always described as "skinny" so it bothers me. Gian in the og game fitted the canon description better than in bad egg body-wise. Like, a mans body doesnt need to be bodybuilding-competition-like to be beautiful, yk? Luchino, Ivan, Giulio and Bakshi are canonly very muscular so it works, but Bernardo is supposed to be tall and skinny and Gian skinny too, so seeing them with 6 or 8 packs rubs me the wrong way. I like when theres cohesion so i dont like when it changes from one cg to another, or if the cg is different from the canon description. In the same way, i dont like how Ivan is sometimes made taller than Gian in some CGs whereas Ivan is supposed to be only 1cm taller than Gian so they are canonly basically the same height...
I liked the giulio and luchino ones facing forward sprites tho haha but yes the artstyle is improved, especially concerning the anatomy (in the og game some H cgs looked quite bad unfortunately)
Yeah thats completly fair, he has a softer face in bad egg but his body is less lanky so he certainly looks a bit different! I think they are both pretty in different ways but I also certainly agree that boy has no six pack, hes a lanky angile lad in my mind, all skin and angles XD. Im the same with character ages! when I first read lucky dog I was younger but now that im within their age range I should probably re read the original properly to see if i relate with any of them a bit more since I only skimed through the new english release of the game to remember enough to start bad egg late last year.

And yeah some hight discrepancies are there also, god did Luchino get big! like im not complaining but man did he get tall and wide! And I prefer small Ivan, it kinda adds to the small dog syndrome thing he has going on. Its interesting to see differences in how people like each sprite! I think my mind got so used to seeing them from one angle that whenever it changed I was like "who you?" but overall i apreciate the old style, there is a charm to earlier years yaoi art and I almost kinda miss it in newer games where everything is so polished and beautiful! I guess they both exist for a reason tho and my older versions with their older art isnt going anywhere XD. One H scene that sticks out in my mind is one where Gian is leaning against a tree (I think with Ivan??) and the tree trunk is legit JUST A TEXTURE! Like not a drawing an honest to god picture of some bark! Like that is so special to me XD. Bad, yes, beauiful anyway? still yes! And as someone who draws I totally understand the desire to just shove in a texture for the background and be done with it, I respect the lack of fucks given!
Its a well known VA in general yes! Ive heard from Paradise several times, is it good ? Also i remember seeing one random BL protag popularity poll in which the only character that was placed higher than Gian was the Paradise main character
Good is subjective with paradise XD. It is one of my guilty plesure games and and I think its amazing because Azuma the main character is probably the best protaganist ive ever had the plesure of reading in the perspective of. That being said the games story leaves something to be desired and i think the final fandisk of the game (paradise kiwame) trumps the first 2 games by a landside for the entire reason that it kinda just stops taking itself seriously? I think of paradise like a dubstep song with a silly drop, its entertaining for sure and I love it to pieces but I also feel like loving paradise takes some internal gaslighting and that Azuma does all the heavy lifting of that love XD. (In otherwords I totally recomened it in the same way I would recomend adopting an ugly dog, its jank and yet somehow still beautiful and most people learn to love it through its flaws XD) If you ever do play it tho keep in mind its trigger warnings, nothing thats unsual within the realm of BL visual novels but it has all the usual themes of abuse and non con as well as a few further horror themes that come with the entire premise of being trapped on an island with a bunch of people you dont know where one of which is definetly a murderer.
One thing im proud of is that the first Daivan ending i got was the "best one" haha so i managed to get all good choices apparently. But its not my personal fav end tho
I wont spoil any end since youre not here yet but def lmk once you reach any end !!
Omg best ending on the first go! You got the internal know how with Gians bullshit works! Interesting to hear that the "best" ending might not end up being the most satifying one! I enjoy when games have bad or neutral endings that are just as well written and thought out as whats considered "true".

aaah yes def lmk your progress!
concerning the "best" end its actually indeed the most satisfying one/the one where the game leads to, but theres another end i prefer even if it doesnt make that much sense haha

For Luchino he was always tall and wide but actually for him i think its the opposite : sometimes in the cgs he seems smaller ans skinnier than his canon height and description haha
For Ivan i agree, and his "domination" play with Gian also comes from the fact that they are quite similar, both in ranking and in height. Theres several lines in the games that emphasize that so please dont make him taller and/or with a big D!! Also, part of Ivans charm as a character is that he is both very average/your average man in a lot of things but also very impressive in some fields.

For the tree i opened the game to see what you were talking about. I never paid attention to it but indeed now i see it haha. For this game what startled me at first were the... Powerpoint transitions. That shit really made me laugh haha (but at that time i didnt know it was a fanmade game so honestly yeah i respect that)

would you say the protagonist is even better than Gian? i didnt play that many BL games but gian is the best one ive seen so far
all you say makes me very curious to know more about it so ill be playing it for sure! i did download a few other games before that tho and i will maybe pause games for some time because LD1 was something i started just because i randomly found it in eng transaltion while i was looking for something else and i certainly didnt expect it to make me obsessed like it did. Thankfully not all games to that to me tho (it happening is both a blessing and a curse) but i think i need to fully digest the LD1 series before starting something else

tyy for the uploads ! cant wait for the drama cds!!
for mr.giancarlo i started it but i dont really understand, is it only very short stories divided in parts ? and without any cg ?
i clicked on a few stories but they didnt seem to bring much to the table, it doesnt seem like a sequel or anything. Is the "additional scenario" thing worth a read?
It's a fandisc have CG like this *i enjoy this scene..
img.jpg

But in two chapters (the most longest in the game) it shows some serious new story...
img1.jpg

img2.jpg

The others are just only ship with the Gian's harem and they even present new characters that apparently another game is coming that might be very bloody like a bad egg I expect it hehehe

:happytears:

The only thing I didn't like were some of the CGs that lacked a bit of polish, but the game had some very entertaining moments and the sprites of the subordinates, which were included from Badegg onwards, look great and sure the main characters also.

:swearveng:

aaah yes def lmk your progress!
concerning the "best" end its actually indeed the most satisfying one/the one where the game leads to, but theres another end i prefer even if it doesnt make that much sense haha
Yes that makes sense! I have multiple games where ill sometimes prefer even the bad endings just because I think further exploration of that scenario would be interesting! Once I start getting some endings ill see if i can guess which one is your favourite or see if I end up with a favourite of my own!

For Luchino he was always tall and wide but actually for him i think its the opposite : sometimes in the cgs he seems smaller ans skinnier than his canon height and description haha

Man is big and it suits him, cant have Gian going around calling someone a lion and then all the CGs show him as itty bitty XD. And yeah Ivan is the newest captian as well as the only non italian so he definitly thinks he has something to prove, with Gian hes on his high horse but also threatend by him since hes now a newer captian than him (therefore below) but also promised the captians seat (therefore higher). Its interesting to see how that self made pissing contest is reflected in both his own route and the others routes. But yeah I prefer them to be more similar body build wise at least, a hidden knife per say where Ivan seems like a dog thats all bark and no bite but hes also extrodinaraly clever and paranoid. It doest really add to that dynamic to make him look imposing since hes not meant to! hes meant to look like a young thug and if you start adding size to him the implied hidden threat becomes a real threat and thats less interesting XD.
For the tree i opened the game to see what you were talking about. I never paid attention to it but indeed now i see it haha. For this game what startled me at first were the... Powerpoint transitions. That shit really made me laugh haha (but at that time i didnt know it was a fanmade game so honestly yeah i respect that)
You are now blessed with the knowledge of that tree! You will now forever see that tree if you try and replay the game, and so the curse is passed on XD. AND YES THE POWERPOINT TRANSITIONS! (Legit me making any type of presentation in primary school spending more time ensuring I used the worst animation for each slide XD).

would you say the protagonist is even better than Gian? i didnt play that many BL games but gian is the best one ive seen so far

Hm I love them in different ways perhaps! They both have very fun perspectives! I kinda take in protaganists in the context of the game that they are within and honestly I think a games protag can kinda embody the game as a whole as they are the one relaying whats seen and what is thought about in game events! Lucky dog wouldnt be lucky dog without Gian telling that story and same with Azuma in paradise so when I say I love a visual novel it usualy means I very much love the protaganist of that story! Azuma I think is a standout because hes the glue holding paradise together whereas Gian is a good protag from a good game XD.

My current all time favourite visual novels include shingakkou noli me tangere and ooe and both of those games have much more pessamistic protaganists whom I also love! I usualy lean towards happy go lucky characters because they have hidden depths and to prove that point in both of the games i meantiond above my favourite routes were with the characters with those traits! In paradise and Lucky dog it just so happens that the protag embodies the character traits I adore and so I would probably rate them as better protaganists even if they are from games I like slightly less than those top two!

I don't play/read blvns anymore, but when i did LD1 was one of my favourites (after omerta and paradise). I've read a fantl of the og game and then read bad egg using a translator and honestly i still don't know which one i like better. The og game has better character writing and plot, but the main character felt more like just a function to get to know other characters. In the bad egg game he felt like an actual MC wich is huge since i don't read VNs where i dgaf about the main character.
My most liked character in the og cast was Luchino, then i played bad egg and Bakshi became my actual favourite one. I just love characters who are assholes and also kinda unpredictable and funny.
But my main issue with bad egg is that there was barely any romance and Bakshi didn't have a rounded backstory or anything close to that like the og cast. (as far as i remember). If you play the bad egg main story and then go to the after story the difference in how more visible the romance is between the characters is CRAZY. But even then i like Bakshi more than any of the og cast lol.
Also the recasting of the seiyuus was diabolical, especially for Luchino, like damn Miki Shinichiro was just so perfect for him... (sorry, but i just don't like furukawa makoto's voice acting anywhere he is in).
Sorry if there are typos or misspellings in the text. English is not my first language and I'm too lazy to go through all that text to edit it lol.

Tyy for telling me which stories are from the new scenario! will def read these thoroughly

omg what theres a new LD1 game coming ? is this for real/confirmed ???

btw do you (or anyone else) know if the bad egg cgs exist in uncensored version?

Yes that makes sense! I have multiple games where ill sometimes prefer even the bad endings just because I think further exploration of that scenario would be interesting! yaaay can't wait!!

Shingakkou and ooe are def on top of my "to play" list ! ive heard so many good things about them, same for Slow Damage

Here is the list of the BL games i played except LD1 games : all of Nitro+Chiral main games (except Slow Damage because it didnt exist back in 2012-2014 when i played BL games) and i randomly played Pigeon Blood (but i wouldnt recommend this one)
My fav BL protagonist apart from Gian is Aoba

ALSO maybe you guys know some good yuri games ? Ive only played yaoi ones but id like to find some yuri ones, ideally r18 and which arent straight male oriented (or ig its fine as long as the VN itself is good)

Hey! indeed whats special about Bad egg is that is fully centered on Gian, even Bakshi is like, kind of a side character lol ? Which is great because Gian really is the backbone of LD1. Even in the og game, i personnaly really didnt see him as a function to know the other capos because he has a very strong personality ! But its also true that he shines less in the og game since we dont get the chance to see him being the actual boss (even if he has some badass/boss moments)
For me its the opposite, i think the writing of bad egg is better (even if i loved the writing of the og game)
In Bad egg Bakshi does have some romantic moments but we dont get to know his backstory, which doesnt bother me that much i think (we know he did sooo many terrible things tho). Did you play Secret Diary ? Because i remember one of the short stories in which we have some informations about his childhood.
I think bad egg Gian being this much of an avoidant tsundere kind of plays a role in the romance being less visible in the bad egg main route.
Why do you prefer Bakshi than the og cast btw ? Im always curious to hear!
and its funny, you say Luchino is an asshole but i like him specifically because imo he is very gentle but youre not the first one i see saying he is an asshole
and no worries, i guess the native english speakers can tell but im the same as you, English isnt my first language !

(Sorry, had to delete the reply and rewrite it with minimum spoilers cause idk how to hide them.)
Regarding the better writing in the og vn, i meant the prologue of the bad egg and how the first part of it was so repetitive it almost made me quit despite being so excited about playing the vn. Thankfully i gave it a chance (which i usually don't do and just quit), and the end of the prologue was so good it finally made me curious again to see the story unfold. It was actually my favourite part of the story when we got that Bakshi reveal and the plot finally started moving.

I haven't read anything except the og vn and bad egg, but i kinda hoped for that info to not be in a side game yknow(? And about the tsundere part, i remember thinking they overdid it this time. It definitely wasn't like that in the og game, but maybe I'm wrong cause it's been awhile since I've played it.

Actually when i said asshole i didn't mean Luchino ahahah. I was talking about Bakshi specifically. It's just quite hard to find an unpredictable and crazy character that isn't cringe, which is why i find him endearing. But my favourite scene of him was the one !SPOILER! where he cried when Gian finally woke up after almost dying, and it turned out that the whole time Gian was unconscious Bakshi was taking care of him (even whe Gian had to go to the toilet??)
Idk it was just such an emotional scene. I think it did an amazing job at showing that other side of Bakshi's character and it lowkey made me cry. I still think Bakshi is a fucking asshole for what he did to Gian prior, but it's a yaoi vn so not really surprised lol.

for spoilers i just learned how to do that ! you first type this (without the *) [SPOILE*R] and once youre done you type [/SP*OILER] if im correct

I see! i personally loooved the prison part a lot ! i liked the reveal at the end too, but the arc i like the least is the rockwell one, even though theres Gian scenes i love (i will put them under spoiler to see if it works, but in case it doesnt work i wont detail them too much)

the ones in the ?casino hotel?
and i just love that CG where its just Gian holding a gun, he looks so incredible in it ??
+ the H scene on the sofa

I haven't read anything except the og vn and bad egg, but i kinda hoped for that info to not be in a side game yknow
secret diary is considered one of the main games i think, but its harder to get into it than for the 2 main games + its actually skippeable indeed, so id say its a little in between a main and a side game ? i mean, i did bad egg first and then i did secret diary and it didnt feel as if something was missing in between LD1 and LD1bad egg

And about the tsundere part, i remember thinking they overdid it this time
I agree. He was too much of a tsundere, i actually prefer the og Gian for that. But also i think it can make sense considering all he has been through in bad egg

For Bakshi : i agree because i first wasnt hyped about him being the bad egg love interest since i found him soooo cringe in the og game. But in bad egg he is actually way better, and i love the voice acting.
The scene youre talking about is indeed a beautiful one ! its one of his best scenes
But for yaoi yeah to fully enjoy it i often had to gaslight myself into thinking a specific thing didnt happen... thats sad that the bar is low. Sometimes the gaslighting didnt work tho or i didnt want to gaslight myself

It's not R18, but how about Iwakura Aria?

Shingakkou is amazing and I definitely recommend! Despite its length it absolutely never was boring to me and I spent probably a good 70 hours getting every ending and playing the fan disk. Same with slow damage! It starts off on the slower side but the ending of the final route more than made up for any luls in story and the art is probably the best artistically out of any bl game I've played! (You can tell they spent so many years making it)

Unfortunately I don't know any Yuri games 😭 I've also been meaning to branch out but since I'm such a big fan of darker stories more bl titles naturally fall under my radar (none of them have any chill whatsoever). I've probably played a good 40 or so bl titles so if you ever play something new and want to chat about it I've probably read it! (surprisingly tho I haven't read pigeon blood, I started reading it and my sister was laughing at me for yelling at the main character for not kicking these dudes out of his house! I just could not put up with him XD, maybe one day I'll finish it, when I'm in the mood to be annoyed at a screen!)

As for straight games I've played a few but not nearly as many that are r18! In fact the only one I can think of at the top of my head is little miss lonesome which when playing it feels spiritually like a BL game plus it's pretty funny. If I think of any more I've played I'll post them here but I can't remember their Japanese titles currently, head is full of BL😂

Well, in the end it's just fiction, but yeah, Suganuma (the writer of the vns) loves his ra/pe scenes for some reason.
There were even some questionable moments in the bad egg CDs as far as i remember, decpite Gian and Bakshi already being a couple.
I see! i personally loooved the prison part a lot ! i liked the reveal at the end too, but the arc i like the least is the rockwell one, even though theres Gian scenes i love (i will put them under spoiler to see if it works, but in case it doesnt work i wont detail them too much)
The H-scenes were just like romance in this game (they were scarce) but i loved every one of them (except the first one) decpite their shortness. Especially the sumata and the bathroom scene. Suganuma can write nice things when he tries.
But yeah, i just wish some of them were a bit longer.

I'm wondering if we should have a thread for general BL games discussion...
I would be all over that! I play way to many of them and it would be fun to talk about some of the lesser known, newer or untranslated titles! (And honestly I would be down to talk about even the known titles, I always have way to many thoughts about these games with a lack of people in the know to talk about them with!) It's hard to talk about some of the themes in these games with people unaware of the lack of chill BL games have since they end up being like "wtf are you reading" and the answer is always "weird shit wanna talk about it?👀"😂

for BL games my to play list is in this order : Galtia (because i started it at the same time as LD1 but i got so obsessed with LD1 that i completely left it, i didnt even do half of a route), then Slow Damage (and its other games if there is), then Paradise, then probably ooe and shingakkou
so ill def keep you updated

for pigeon blood i never finished it, and i only remember that the whole crew was just horrible... i only remember bad stuff happening. I also remember feeling so sad for that poor protagonist because he was very lonely and first he was so happy to have a bunch of people in his house. Like, even for yaoi standards all the "love" interests were terrible people, especially that blonde guy (he actually gave me real IRL chills...)

would you recommend little miss lonesome then? One straight r18 VN i wanted to play was persona phantom of the opera, but idk if its good or not

I know that the LD1 series is written by Yura and by 2 men. Im wondering how they decide for the scenario/who decides what in general
Also, since its queer media im wondering if some people who write LD1 are actually queer or not (especially wondering if theres queer men). I know that BL is a big debate within queer spaces. I Know that yura and one of the men writers are actually in a straight relationship, but they could still be queer. Also, i do think that they dont have to out their sexuality, but its always something im wondering when im engaging with queer media. So in case theres instances of some of the staff deciding to talk about it pls let me know.

Im sad to know about abuse in the drama cds because in the bad egg game bakshi acted good with gian (after that first H scene). He takes care of him and respects him, so abusing gian after all that feels out of character. I know its fiction but its like, so unnecessary...
In the same vein, one thing i didnt like about the side game Gians Lucky Happy Life is that there was some kind of alternative universes stories where Gian was being abused and violented, even by Luchino... i dont play a game named LUCKY HAPPY LIFE to see Gian being treated like sht by characters who never did that kind of thing to him in the main games !!!

The sofa H scene in the main bad egg route is actually quite long i think! Its imo one of the best H scenes of the entire game. Thats a little disappointing indeed to know that its written by the same person who apparently wants ton include noncon stuff

It's hard to talk about some of the themes in these games with people unaware of the lack of chill BL games have since they end up being like "wtf are you reading" and the answer is always "weird shit wanna talk about it?👀"😂
i created this topic to talk about LD1 but im also totally fine with talking about other games here ! the conversations can cross paths several times anyway
but you can also create another topic if you guys want!
Yeah, one of the reasons im creating topics online to talk about these kind of games is because they are hard to recommend to others, even if some are good games. Theres also so many triggers to take into consideration

Yura (a woman) is the one directing the games. The writer is a man (Suganuma), who used to write hentai for men. Idk about the second man, but i know that Suganuma has an assistant - Jinnai, and it's a woman. Also idk and idc about their sexualities, and i definitely wouldn't call any type of bl a "queer media" since it's made mostly by straight women for straight women, but i assume all of them are straight since nothing points otherwise. There are actually quite a few straight men writing for BLvns out there, most of them aren't writing the H-scenes ofc, but the plot and the characters (like in No, Thank you!! VN for example), so nothing new here.

for BL games my to play list is in this order : Galtia (because i started it at the same time as LD1 but i got so obsessed with LD1 that i completely left it, i didnt even do half of a route), then Slow Damage (and its other games if there is), then Paradise, then probably ooe and shingakkou
so ill def keep you updated

for pigeon blood i never finished it, and i only remember that the whole crew was just horrible... i only remember bad stuff happening.

One straight r18 VN i wanted to play was persona phantom of the opera, but idk if its good or not
Galtia is another I haven't played! I had it wish listed on a Japanese website but wasn't yet ready to fork over the $80 to buy it so it got put on the backburner until I actively finish what I own😂 (I'm a filthy game hoarder who buys shit while actively playing something else 😭) If you end up playing it tho let me know if it's worth it! I've heard it's a long game so at the very least there will be lots to discuss! And yeah sometimes another game just scratches that itch and drags attention away from other games or you're just in the mood for a particular genre! Slow damage has a spin off game available for play on a internet browser (or at least it was when I played it) called slow damage clean dishes but it's more so a story to do with the overall world of slow damage rather than the characters in the main game! (Aka it's not a fan disk or anything just a little playable teaser showing off how 2 other characters survive in the game world)

Yeah I never got far enough in pigeon blood to learn anything about the guys available or the main dude, I think I got to like the first h scene (WHICH WAS REALLY EARLY IN THE GAME) and was like omg dude if you don't even try to kick these guys out after this all hope is lost. Of course he didn't kick them out because yaoi and I decided I didn't have the mental capacity to deal with bullishit that day and haven't looked back since 😂. Like I don't normally care about any of those themes in games but the rational at least has to be there narratively for it to be interesting! For pigeon blood because everything happened so fast I just couldn't understand the main character and grew frustrated with him.

I would recommend little miss lonesome as a breather game perhaps! Like it's not literary gold of course but it's a fun little quick game that has some funny moments and was entertaining enough to keep me occupied for a few days at least! It kinda reminded me of some of the older comedy animes I used to watch so perhaps for me there was a bit of a nostalgia factor also, like it's just silly! I've never heard of the game you mentioned but it looks interesting so I've added it my list😂 I remember the name of one other straight r18 game I played called yoshiwara higanbana which was also good! My only issues with it is I was for some reason not particularly fond of some of the characters so some routes dragged a bit for me, I don't even know why I didn't like them! Probably just general taste in character personality traits or even some dodgy translations on my part since it's been a hot minute since I've played it.

It's a special type of niche that's for sure! Even among visual novel players once you start going down genre rabbit holes there are people who have played hundreds who have never even touched or looked at what you're talking about! Like I've played a majority of "mainstream" visual novels so it gives me a starting point in the conversation but when the most well known BL visual novel is dramatical murder and that one is seen as tame within the genre… yeah definitely gets a bit hard to bring up something like slow damage or room no 9😂 it would be like starting a straight visual novel conversation talking about euphoria!

Thank you for that input!
You said you dont play blvns anymore, but do you still play some vns in general? Or did you stop with vns as a whole?

I started playing galtia because i remember reading a synopsis back in 2014 and finding it interesting, and also i liked the sprites of the characters. The game wasnt even out yet, it was like, just being annonced and with a few previews or something? And fun fact, a few months ago i randomly remembered wanting to play this game more than a decade ago so i started looking for it online, and thats when i found LuckyDog1 lol. So its the game that made me discover LD1 kinda.
I started Galtia without knowing much about it but then i heard mixed reviews about this game, and theres apparently some routes that are just stockholm syndrome stuff so it doesnt hype me. I still want to do at least a few routes, for the sake of having waited more than 10 years to play it, yk? Im at the... beginning? middle? (i honeslty have no clue) of the childhood friend route, for now nothing really major happened, it still felt like i was on the "preview" part of the game

Well yeah, i remember that scene in pigeon blood. I stopped the game after that too... but i calmed down and started the game again a few days later i think after deciding ill do at least one route, but honestly i wouldve been better not continuing

"the most well known BL visual novel is dramatical murder and that one is seen as tame within the genre…"
wait is dramatical murder actually considered tamed ??? I remember some very unsettling bad endings so if THIS is tame then damn

Dramatical Murder is probably the second tamest game in Nitro+Chiral's ouverve imo.

You want to see N+C going hard, try Sweet Pool.

(Funny thing about that game: the main artist at the time of her being recruited was in the Sentou Yousei Yukikaze fandom and drawing doujins for it, so the art of the game looks a lot like the character designs of that anime, with a few characters who are dead ringers for that anime's characters. And now I can't ever rewatch Yukikaze with a straight face.)
