hello,
i'm not very active here but i check for some games from time to time.
today though i cant open any threads in the Otome Games, Artbooks & CDs section. i don't know if this means i did something and was blocked from that area or if there is an issue with the site? i didn't get any emails and all my alerts here are gone

Solution
Why do we even need this forum if the game's access is now attributed to 'contributions'? If you need me to make 200 posts with game assistance, it can last for years. And I don't want to work for free when users who registered earlier than me with the same number of messages have special access. It's really easier to just buy a game

You do need to stop making up numbers. I never specify any numbers. To begin with, where did you get that number 200 posts from? If it's coming from me saying to attain a certain rank, then surely for the rank. I never say to access Otome Group, requires 200 posts.

Thanks For The Info. I Am Experiencing This Myself Too. A Punishment For Lurkers Perhaps? HaHa ;-;

Not really no, I cannot...
But what about creating torrent distributions? This entire system seems very unreliable if files can be disposed of so easily. What if the focus shifted from creating new restrictive rules to figuring out a different way to share files?
Again. The new regulations are not up for debate.

This is the new system. I have spent nearly 500 USD on games this year to share and do not want my personal identity or safety at risk for sharing content to others who cannot fund, I also run a successful co-purchase group and we exchange things. We dont just take.

This is your first warning, please do not disrespect the work we are putting in to keep our members safe.

If you don't want to socialize, what's the point of complaining here? Isn't it more logical to ... just go elsewhere that doesn't require you to socialize?

I don't understand your point anymore.

Figure it out yourself

Of course, you're welcome to create a thread, upload a torrent, start seeding, and I assure you will earn the ticket to this "elite club". LFG, YGMI.

But we both know you don't want to do it. You just want to tell everyone else to do it, and you will be happily on taketh side, giveth is too much trouble.

Of course, you are free to include a torrent. It's not mandatory, but you're welcome to do it. There were few members had done it in the past. We welcome all contributions... didn't we?
Doing something for a community whose admin can't stop replying to me with passive aggression and assumes what I can or can't do? No, thanks. I'll really go somewhere else.

Not really no, I cannot disclose the true reason, but if you're like 1-2-3 lurker, then yes. Everyone else who had a genuine interest in this community will have a fair chance.

Let me put it this way: while the Trusted and Elite member rank is an assured way to have access, it's not the only condition.

That said, I think I didn't stress this enough: if you do not have access now, wait for a few more days?

Did I make that clear enough? Hell I never even say the cutoff date but if you have an account before you read this message, you're pretty much well ahead.

I understand everyone frustration but it's not that as bad as it looks.

Edit: Let me put in a small FAQ:

1. Do you need the badge Trusted/Elite Member?
A. While having the badge is an assurance to get access, it's not the only condition.

2. What do I do to get access?
A. Do nothing, Wait. Don't Spam. Or just enjoy some doujinshi, some voice drama. You are free to complain here, I do read everyone's complaint, it is encouraging.

3. I'm shy, I'm introverted, I'm a lurker, are you punishing me for being one?
A. No, while we cannot disclose the true reason behind. Also if you really don't have anything other than a profile, then sadly you are unlikely to qualify.

4. I'm belong to the number 3. and I absolutely didn't do anything, what do I do to get access?
A. You probably belong to the group we want to get rid of by accident. Either way, there's nothing you can do but to wait until everyone else get vetted.

5. I heard from someone else that I need X amount of posts to have access.
A. You need X amount of post to attain a rank, but those X amount of post doesn't mean you go in forum game and get that number, it would punish you instead.
It also had nothing to do with having access to Otome Game, read Question 1.

6. I see that I'm "New Member", am I qualified?
A. Most likely, if you are within registration date cut-off and as long as you're not agent zero (0).
Greetings. I have a few questions about using the forum and hope you might kindly enlighten me.
My English is limited, so I first compose my thoughts in my mother tongue and then translate them; I trust this will still convey my meaning.

Because of the language barrier, I have, since registering, seldom posted or replied. When I recently found myself unable to enter the Otome Games section, I sought help from a friend who is active there. She told me that, should further questions arise, I might turn to you for guidance, and it is thanks to her kindness that I was able to locate this very thread.

Browser translations are often awkward or misleading, yet with their aid I have roughly read the explanation given in post #69, which I appreciate.

I fully understand the principle involved: in the forums I usually frequent, greater privileges are earned through contribution and goodwill, and only then may one share in the bounty others provide. At present, however, I remain rather at sea. Is simply waiting sufficient for my access to be restored, or are there specific steps I ought to take? And, once restored, what should I do to keep my account in good standing? I beg you to point me in the right direction. Though language remains an obstacle, I am determined to overcome it and to cherish this account.

Hello,

It works like this:

1. We will look at your history activity: if you unhide so many links but doesn't have any post at all, you will be classified as scraping bot, and it's much harder for you to unlock access.

2. In your case, you are not classified as such, but still because you didn't have any interaction, you wasn't qualified for access. You just need a few interaction to get started.

3. To prevent abuse and burnt out, we don't need you to come here everyday, instead, just 1-2 replies per week will be sufficient to gain access. You can talk about anything you like in Otome Corner, help with member's requesting to reupload dead links, providing a couple of mirrors in one of the other forum that you still have access, but most importantly, do not ask AI to do this for you. If the system determine you're an AI bot, it will apply a very harsh penalty against your account. Translation is fine.

4. In order to maintain a good standing, you just need to interact with us consistently. 1-2 replies per month is fine, but please write atleast one or two sentence for each. We have an inactivity timer as well, usually if you don't come back for 1-2 years, your access will be removed, it depends on your account creation and activity history - and yours are new - therefore, it will be 1 year instead of 2 year.

If you still have any question, please let me know.

Thanks for the clarification. I have 0 posts or interactions here so my introverted ass is going to struggle through this one

You will only struggle if you don't give it a try.

Hello, Checkmate. I'm really sorry for bothering you, but may I ask you to check if my profile was classified as a bot? I completely understand if the answer is no and checking every random forum member who asks is a can of worms you would prefer not to open, but, well, it's worth to try asking.
The thing is, based on your posts my account is the prime candidate for bot status - long time of existing with only opening links (in some cases there would be years between by visits, but still 13 years is a long time), using VPN (the site is blocked in my country). And just the fact that some of my post are straight up don't count in the counter (I made 5 posts since the implementation of new limitations, but counter only shows 2 (yeah, one is stupid +1, which I posted before thinking better, but the others are normal ones)
All of these is written because I think maybe I shouldn't even try to get this account to approved status and maybe it's better to start a new one and try on it instead (I quickly checked the rules and didn't find anything about the prohibition on creating the secound account, if there are rules like these, please tell me).
Again, sorry for bothering and thank you.

No, you were qualified. Your account is in good standing. Whatever you're doing is perfectly fine but your activity is low, it may affect future eligibility.

The Rank Maker isn't that stupid and will not classified everyone who use VPN as a bot. Feel free to continue a VPN as desire. However, there's a small risk that we might ban a VPN range if we detected spam and abuses automatically.

Posting +1 or any short message such as thank and thank you does not incur any penalty, and it does count toward your progress, but only 0.1 point instead of a full point. There's also a limit when you have too many short message, it won't do anything else.

The Ranking system is complicated. But if one doesn't abuse, he/she will success. Hope it help.

Thank you very much! I'll spend the coming week visiting Otome Corner every day to post and take part in the discussions—I hadn't even realized that section existed. Should any further questions arise, I would be most grateful for your guidance again.

Yes, because my English is poor, it took a long time to find this post.
I've read all the replies above, I fully understand the community's approach, and I now know what I should do. Thank you all for the replies.
By the way, I also discovered that there are many other members who, like me, have poor English. I think we can hug each other, haha.

I see that both of you are now qualified for access. To maintain good standing, just make sure you interact with us once or twice per month. It's un-necessary to do it everyday unless you wish to do it.

Dear friends, I'd like to speak from the heart about what I've just been through.
Because of the language barrier I'd been lurking for ages—at first I couldn't even find this thread (╥﹏╥). When I finally asked ces for help, she pointed me to the place where we can report problems. I posted my question this Tuesday; two days later it's fixed and my account works perfectly. Such fast, kind support really touched me!

I'm also surprised by how upset some people are about the new entry rules. I first heard of this forum from a friend I met on the biggest, oldest otome site in my country. I'd been sharing Switch games there, she invited me over, and here I am. Otome resources are niche everywhere; they exist only because girls pour their own time and money into uploading them. We also have to fight resellers—people who bundle free shares and sell them to girls who don't know how to search. So my home forum adopted strict measures years ago:
  1. A thoughtful application essay—only sincere, detailed ones are approved.
  2. A small entry fee; the forum is ad-free and runs on yearly donations. Paying up-front gives you a Lv-10 account instantly.
  3. Downloads cost forum currency. Active users earn plenty for free; no real money needed.
  4. VPN users or anyone grabbing masses of resources in a short time may be auto-blocked for a few days.
Harsh? Maybe—but those rules keep the environment safe and reward the people who actually contribute. Even so, translation teams still battle pirates by binding their patches to user accounts so the handmade work can't be resold.

So to me, having a barrier at the door feels normal; perhaps this place was simply too open at the start, which is why the new requirements feel like a shock.

If the system hasn't flagged you as a bot, go and post in Otome Corner—that's what I did, and it solved everything. My English is terrible, yet I managed; I'm sure every one of you can do even better!

Even english is not my mother language too. We can hug each other too (laugh). i'm suck at english grammar but that's on it, as long as what we trying to say is understandable to others then it's fine i guess?

I also lurking for a long time here before decided to contribute some collection that i have here as some gratitude for every contributor/uploader that have been sharing rare games/bonus content they have for over years. Did the forum you mentioned is otomedream? I still remember back around 2015 i manage to make an account there with my limited chinese language (i think it's even worse now since i rarely touch them anymore). Guess what? i don't know how to earn point and stuff so i quit myself only to find out last year that my account there is deleted? and i think almost every chinese forum is like that? need some forum currency or donations? for example TS*M or ti*ba baidu.

It's not just in china, in global too finding something is harder than before, even old content that used to be shared publicly have gone into air like music album, games and other stuff whether they're deleted, expired or dmca'ed. Plus with the recent years trouble of big music, comic, game rom site closed down everyone is worried and gatekeeping stuff.

Anyway, i'm glad that you're manage to enter. I'm not mods or anything but welcome and enjoy your stay in here!

to be honest i can't imagine it lol. That's why i am super grateful with every mods/admin/uploader/contributor that really kind to share their knowledge, games and other stuff as well as helping a lot of member here.

We are trying to make sure that the files we do upload dont get DMCA'd however, The games I have uploaded ALL got taken down in less than 24 hours due to people reporting them.

so even with this gating, people are still trolling.

I am the same, today I opened the forum and found that all the posts have set permissions, I thought I was blacklisted.I'm glad it's not.Look forward to the restoration of function.I hope it can be more useful than before. Sometimes I turn to the posts I am interested in and find that the resources are invalid, which is very annoying.(I used a translator, so the English is a bit unnatural.)

I was wondering why I wasn't able to access now and even I made a new account to see if that was the problem, but seems that I wil just have to be here and interact? Since it is a bit sad not being able to access to the otome content as an otome fan and artist 😭😭😭

All new accounts are treated differently, and is a lot harder than old account, unfortunately.

However, I'll provide more guidance as soon as we upgrade to ASF 2.1.

Unfortunately the only activity in your account is liking threads to reveal downloads..

You need to contribute to discussions and engage with the forum to be considered active. Even if you have to use a translator. Many of our members do already.
